Abstract

The problem of this research is that fifth grade students lack the ability to solve math problems,  this happens because students do not understand the stages in solving a problem. This study aims to describe and examine the effect and examine significant differences in the application of the PBL model to students' problem-solving abilities. This type of research is quantitative with experimental methods. There were 75 students as the population in this study, and 51 of them were used as samples. In this study, the t-test and direct regression test were used for data analysis. This study found that the use of the PBL model had a significant effect on students' ability to solve mathematical problems and there were significant differences in the application of this PBL model. Testing the first hypothesis with a simple regression test obtained the results Fcount = 7.72 ≥ Ftable = 4.24 which indicates that the application of the PBL model has a significant effect on the mathematical problem solving abilities of fifth grade students. The acquisition of the t-test is tcount = 2.737 > ttable = 2.021 shows that there is a significant difference in the application of the PBL model to students' mathematical problem solving abilities. Keywords: mathematics; problem based learning; problem solving  AbstrakMasalah penelitian ini yaitu bahwa peserta didik kelas lima kurang memiliki kemampuan untuk memecahkan masalah matematika, hal tersebut terjadi karena peserta didik belum memahami tahapan dalam memecahkan suatu masalah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menguji pengaruh serta menguji perbedaan yang signifikan dalam penerapan model PBL terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen. Terdapat 75 orang peserta didik sebagai populasi dalam penelitian ini, dan 51 dari mereka dijadikan sampel. Dalam penelitian ini, uji-t dan uji regresi langsung digunakan untuk analisis data. Studi ini menemukan bahwa penggunaan model PBL memiliki pengruh yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan peserta didik dalam memecahkan masalah matematika dan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dalam penerapan model PBL ini. Uji hipotesis pertama dengan uji regresi sederhana diperoleh hasil Fhitung = 7,72 ≥ Ftabel = 4,24 yang menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika peserta didik kelas V. Perolehan uji-t yaitu thitung = 2,737 > ttabel = 2,021 menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan penerapan model PBL terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika peserta didik.   Kata Kunci: matematika; pemecahan masalah; problem based learning  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/mtk/v11i3.pp204-215

Abstract

The research purpose was to implement of the STEM 4.0 approach in improving student CT. This study used a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest - posttest design. The learning integrated 4 STEM components to improve students’ CT. Participants were elementary school teacher education students at state universities in Lampung Province. The test instrument is at the cognitive level C4 and C6 which refers to Bloom's Taxonomy. Based on research data, it is stated that in learning with the STEM 4.0 approach, there are activities to understand the concept of learning material (Science) by integrating everyday life phenomena (Mathematics) and supported by learning media (Technology). Furthermore, there are learning activities in the form of practice activities in solving a problem in groups and making simple products by applying the concepts contained in the learning materials.
