Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: This community service initiative aims to support educational institutions in fostering the social and emotional development of adolescents by promoting awareness of saving, enhancing understanding of personal finance concepts, and equipping adolescents with essential financial skills to navigate future financial challenges. Methodology: The methodology employed in this initiative involved simulations and role-playing activities structured as a training program. The training focuses on the "Gerakan SMART" (Simpan, Mengurutkan kebutuhan, Atur pengeluaran, Realisasikan, dan Tercatat), a framework designed to assist individuals in creating, managing, and effectively utilizing personal finances. Results: A total of 97 junior high school students participated in this study. Evaluation based on three key indicators revealed that the community service activity was successful in achieving its objectives. The "Gerakan SMART" game improved the participants’ knowledge of financial management. Conclusion: Financial management is a crucial skill for adolescents, preparing them to face future financial challenges and ensuring their well-being. Training programs focused on financial management for young people are expected to cultivate future leaders equipped to thrive in competitive workplace environments that demand these skills, thereby contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Limitations: Owing to time and resource limitations, the program had difficulty ensuring that participants fully understood the material and assessing the training’s long-term effects. Contribution: By promoting the "Gerakan SMART" framework, the program equips young generations with the tools to navigate future financial challenges and prepares them to be leaders in the future.

Descriptive analysis was performed on the data collected. The results of the community service activity showed that more than 96% of the participants who attended found the activity relevant to their conditions. Additionally, 62% of the participants experienced an increase in knowledge regarding the concept of financial management, and all participants committed to taking concrete actions to improve their family's financial conditions, including avoiding debt, making financial records, using an application to simplify financial management, and setting a budget (financial prioritization).

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates how young adults manage their finances. It examines the impact of three factors: allowance (pocket money), financial habits (lifestyle), and access to financial services (inclusion). Methods: The study population comprised college students in Bandung, Indonesia. A sample of 159 college students was selected to understand their financial management practices and related factors. Results: The study found that Allowance and financial inclusion significantly influenced how young adults managed their finances. These factors were found to have a significant impact, with p-values less than 0.05. Students who manage their income exhibit better budgeting and spending habits. Access to financial services positively affects students' financial management skills and encourages safer savings methods. However, lifestyle factors did not significantly impact financial management, contrary to the findings of previous research. This suggests that other factors might be more crucial for financial discipline. Conclusions: This study finds that pocket money and financial inclusion significantly enhance financial management skills among university students, while lifestyle has little impact, highlighting the need for education that fosters saving, investing, and responsible financial behavior. Limitations: This study focused on a specific student population in Bandung, Indonesia. Further research is required to determine whether these findings apply to broader demographic groups.   Contribution: This study underscores the role of schools and families in enhancing students’ financial literacy through education, allowances, and financial inclusion. Novelty: This study reveals that lifestyle habits have a limited impact on financial management among tech-savvy youth, suggesting the need to reconsider financial education strategies, particularly in trend-driven contexts such as Bandung.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the direct and indirect impact of transformational leadership and quality of work life on organizational citizenship behavior OCB, with work motivation as a mediator. An explanatory method was adopted to examine the relationship between antecedent, mediator, and consequences, with seven hypotheses being tested. A total of 216 employees from the St. Regis Hotel in Bali were selected as the participants using a simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS, which included conducting validity and reliability tests through algorithm methods, followed by hypothesis testing using bootstrapping. The results of the analysis showed that transformational leadership directly impacted OCB. When work motivation acts as a mediator, transformational leadership significantly affects OCB. While QWL did not directly affect increasing OCB, its relationship with OCB became significant when work motivation was introduced as a mediator.
