Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with high blood sugar levels in the blood. DM can cause complications of various diseases because the body can not use blood sugar in the blood cannot be used. The number of DM sufferers, both in the world and in Indonesia, continues to increase from time to time, so this disease is a scourge for everyone. Writing this paper aims to discuss the healthy lifestyle of diabetics to avoid the risk of complications. The most severe disorder of this disease is a chronic metabolic disorder because the pancreas does not produce enough insulin hormone, which has the principal role in regulating and controlling glucose metabolism into energy. Over time, diabetes can interfere with the function of human organs. For example, some organs work improperly, and some should be amputated. One of the most effective efforts to keep blood sugar levels stable is dietary compliance in people with diabetes mellitus has role function. The impact of dietary regulation is maintaining normal-body weight, reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure, lowering blood glucose levels, improving lipid profiles, increasing insulin receptor sensitivity, and improving the blood coagulation system. This disease requires continuous medical care by carrying out independent health management in patients to prevent acute complications and reduce the risk of long-term complications. It is principal to adopt a healthy lifestyle for diabetic patients in a frame to anticipate the risk of complications.

Abstract

The cage is a place used to put experimental animals in experimental studies to study the mechanism of the disease and its response to therapy. Formaldehyde as a carcinogenic compound can increase the occurrence of chronic inflammation which has the potential to increase the growth of cancer cells in experimental animals due to the stress experienced while in the cage. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of large and small cages induced by formaldehyde 30 ppm against nasopharyngeal dysplasia in Wistar rats. This research is an experimental study with a true experimental design with the type of post-test only control group design. This study used 12 male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) which were divided into two groups, namely the group of Wistar rats which were placed in large cages measuring (30 x 24 x 11.5) cm3 of 6 individuals, and in small cages (27 .5 x 21.5 x 9) cm3 of 6 individuals induced by 30 ppm formaldehyde with a span of 6 hours per day for 16 weeks. The rats were terminated and retro-orbital blood samples were taken to measure MDA levels and nasopharyngeal tissue to assess the degree of dysplasia. The results of this study showed that there was a statistically significant difference (p <0.05) between the degrees of nasopharyngeal dysplasia (p=0.003) and MDA levels (p=0.003) in Wistar rats in small cages and large cages. In this study the effectiveness of small cages was greater than large cages in causing dysplasia in the nasopharyngeal tissue of Wistar rats.

Abstract

Pterygium comes from the Greek, namely pteron, which means wing. Pterygium is an abnormal growth of fibrovascular tissue with a triangular shape from the conjunctiva that extends to the cornea. It is a proliferative disorder of the ocular surface, caused by connective tissue remodeling and angiogenesis leading to fibrovascular proliferation. This journal aims to provide information about risk factors and management of pterygium in coastal residents. Work as a farmer/fisherman/labourer had the highest prevalence of pterygium at 15.8%. The most influential pterygium risk factor for coastal communities is their work as a fisherman, and also being in the equatorial area which is an area with high sun exposure, this can trigger pterygium. Work as a fisherman carried out for years and hours, which averages around 7 hours and above for exposure to direct sunlight can also trigger pterygium. Pterygium management that can be done is giving eye drops to reduce complaints, then performing surgery or surgery using excision techniques, namely baresclera, Conjunctival autograft technique, and Amniotic membrane grafting. The high recurrence rate associated with postoperative complications is common thus additional medical management has been included in the surgical treatment of pterygium namely mitomycin C, anti-VEGF, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and loteprednol etabonate.

Abstract

Elementary schools represent a strategic setting for instilling healthy behaviors early in life, as children are in a critical period of habit and character formation. Along with the evolution of educational practices, conventional health education methods have shifted toward more interactive, participatory, and holistic approaches. This study aims to explore and synthesize recent innovations and strategies in implementing health programs in elementary schools. An integrative review design was applied by analyzing 44 selected articles, including quantitative, qualitative, and experimental studies. The reviewed literature focuses on interventions related to physical health, mental health, and dental health among elementary school students. The findings identify four main clusters of program innovation: the use of creative media and gamification to enhance health knowledge, classroom-based mental health interventions such as deep breathing and mindfulness, the integration of physical education to address obesity prevention and character development, and comprehensive school health management that emphasizes the role of teachers and supportive school policies. The review concludes that health programs in elementary schools are shifting from one-way counseling toward more engaging and participatory interventions, with multidimensional approaches demonstrating greater effectiveness in improving student health outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract

Teachers are instrumental in advancing 21st-century education and implementing Indonesia's Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes the integration of cognitive development, mental resilience, and a positive learning environment. However, teachers in Alas District, Sumbawa Regency, continue to face challenges in designing innovative learning that promotes Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and mental health literacy. This community service program aimed to enhance teachers' understanding and practical competencies in implementing innovative learning grounded in mental health literacy. The program was conducted offline through the University of Mataram's Mental Health Literacy Research Product Dissemination Program and involved 60 teachers from early childhood, primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary education levels. The implementation consisted of coordination, training sessions (lectures, discussions, sharing sessions, and a Kahoot-based quiz), and observation-based evaluation. The findings revealed high participant engagement and enthusiasm while fostering a collaborative forum for exchanging best teaching practices to support students' cognitive development, mental well-being, and overall happiness.

Abstract

Introduction: Muscle weakness is an emerging public health concern among older adults worldwide, serving as a visible, primary symptom of sarcopenia. Sarcopenia is a complex geriatric syndrome characterized by progressive and generalized loss of skeletal muscle mass, strength, and physical function. However, awareness and knowledge regarding its prevention and management remain limited. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a community-based education program in improving knowledge and readiness among older adults to address muscle weakness. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design, conducted across six elderly schools in Mataram City and West Lombok, with 120 participants purposively recruited. Participants were divided into an intervention group (n = 60) and a control group (n = 60). The intervention group received two 60-minute multi-component muscle weakness education sessions comprising lectures, booklets, and interactive discussions, while the control group received no intervention. Knowledge and readiness were measured before and one week after the intervention using a validated questionnaire. To account for baseline imbalances and demographic confounding, data were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) with robust standard errors clustered at the school level. Results: At baseline, continuous questionnaire scores did not differ significantly between groups (p > 0.05). One week post-intervention, the intervention group's knowledge score increased from 11.23 ± 2.14 to 16.08 ± 1.45 (mean change: 4.85 ± 1.58; within-group d = 3.07), and readiness scores increased from 22.15 ± 4.12 to 29.43 ± 3.18 (mean change: 7.28 ± 3.35; within-group d = 2.18). The control group also showed increases, with a knowledge change of 2.87 ± 1.27 (d = 2.26) and a readiness change of 4.42 ± 4.46 (d = 0.99). Multivariable ANCOVA confirmed that the intervention was independently associated with significantly higher posttest knowledge (F(1, 115) = 24.32, p < 0.001, ?²p = 0.174) and readiness scores (F(1, 115) = 18.54, p < 0.001, ?²p = 0.139). Conclusion: A structured, multi-modal community-based educational intervention was associated with greater short-term improvement in knowledge and readiness scores compared to a control condition. This immediate questionnaire-based shift does not establish long-term clinical prevention or sustained behavior change. Integrating this program into community health services, such as Posyandu Lansia, represents a potential future direction warranting longitudinal evaluation of operational feasibility, behavioral retention, and objective physical outcomes.
