Abstract

This study examines the influence of social and demographic characteristics on the availability of clean water and adequate sanitation facilities for households in Indonesia. The focus of the study includes the analysis of variables such as educational background, age range, gender, employment status of the head of the household, level of expenditure, home ownership status, area of residence and geographical location of residence. Methodologically, this study applies a quantitative approach through logistic regression analysis based on Susenas 2020 data with a sample of 334,229 households. The research findings reveal that factors of higher education, productive age, active employment status, adequate economic capacity, and rural location are positively associated with easy access to clean water and sanitation. On the other hand, households with male heads of households, property owners, and those residing in eastern Indonesia actually face limited access. These results identify disparities that require special handling through affirmative policies, especially for disadvantaged areas. Practically, these findings can be a reference in formulating equitable development programs to support the achievement of the SDGs, especially on the sixth goal on clean water and sanitation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyzes the monetary policy transmission mechanism through the expectations channel in influencing inflation in Indonesia, based on the premise that uncontrolled inflation can erode purchasing power, hinder investment, and slow economic growth. The study employs quarterly secondary data for the 2006–2023 period obtained from the Economic and Financial Statistics of Indonesia (SEKI) and the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), covering the policy interest rate (BI-Rate), inflation expectations, exchange rate, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and inflation. The analytical method used is the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), preceded by the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) stationarity test, optimal lag selection, Johansen cointegration test, Granger causality test, and Impulse Response Function (IRF) analysis. The results indicate that all variables are non-stationary at level but become stationary at first difference, and a long-run cointegration relationship exists, validating the application of VECM. In the long run, the BI-Rate, inflation expectations, and exchange rate significantly affect inflation, while GDP is insignificant. In the short run, a bidirectional causal relationship is found between the exchange rate and inflation expectations. The IRF analysis reveals that monetary policy shocks influence inflation with a certain time lag. The study concludes that policy credibility and effective communication are crucial in strengthening the effectiveness of the expectations channel in controlling inflation. It is recommended that Bank Indonesia enhance policy transparency and public economic literacy to strengthen public confidence in achieving inflation targets. Keywords: Monetary Policy Transmission, Inflation Expectations, Exchange Rate, GDP, Inflation, VECM

Abstract

The problem of development inequality is a crucial issue in Indonesia. Development inequality is caused by differences in geographical conditions of a region such as regional characteristics, natural resource potential, human resources and uneven investment levels between regions. North Sumatra and West Sumatra are in one region, namely Sumatra Island, which is in the same national fiscal system but has a contrasting pattern of inequality. This study specifically discusses the comparison of regional inequality levels measured using the Williamson Index between North Sumatra and West Sumatra Provinces based on Regency/City data by looking at the influence and how large the comparison of Regional Expenditure, TPAK, Infrastructure, HDI and Economic Growth of the two regions. This study uses statistical analysis with a difference test (t-Test) using BPS data from 2019-2023. The results show that there are significant differences in Regional Expenditure, TPAK, Infrastructure, HDI and Economic Growth between North Sumatra and West Sumatra and significantly affect development inequality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the determinants of income inequality in Sumatra Island. The variables examined consist of GDP per capita, agricultural sector GDP, agricultural employment, school participation rate, open unemployment rate, and female labor force participation across 10 provinces in Sumatra from 2015 to 2022. This research employs panel data analysis, and based on the model selection tests conducted, the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) was identified as the most appropriate model. The results indicate that GDP per capita has a negative and significant effect on income inequality, implying that higher regional income contributes to reducing inequality in Sumatra. Likewise, the school participation rate and female labor force participation show negative and significant effects, suggesting that better access to education and greater involvement of women in the labor market play an essential role in narrowing the income gap.Meanwhile, agricultural employment has a negative but insignificant effect on income inequality, indicating that the agricultural labor sector has not yet contributed meaningfully to reducing inequality. Furthermore, agricultural GDP and the open unemployment rate have positive but insignificant effects, demonstrating that increases in these variables do not have a substantial impact on income distribution. Overall, the findings highlight the importance of economic growth, education, and female workforce participation in addressing income inequality in Sumatra.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita, poverty rate, and government expenditure on the Human Development Index (HDI) in West Sumatra Province. The study employs panel data from 12 regencies and 7 cities over the period 2020–2024. The analytical method used is panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results indicate that GRDP per capita has a positive and significant effect on HDI, the poverty rate has a negative but insignificant effect on HDI, while government expenditure has a positive and significant effect on HDI. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly influence HDI in West Sumatra. These findings emphasize the importance of increasing community income and enhancing the effectiveness of regional budget management to support human development, as well as the need for strategic policies to mitigate the impact of poverty.

Abstract

Purpose – This study empirically examines the effect of digital marketing on impulse buying with the experience of hedonic shopping values and the income results of SME actors as mediators. Methodology/approach – This study uses Partial Least Square (PLS) to analyze the data. Data were collected from customers who often shop at food and clothing SMEs as the population of this study. The sample is 200 visitors in Bukittinggi City, the result of non-probability sampling using purposive sampling technique. Findings – The findings show that digital marketing affects impulse buying directly and does not directly affect the value of hedonic shopping and income as a mediator. Novelty/value – This study shows a greater awareness of the importance of using digital marketing as a means of selling for business actors so that they can further increase the motivation of consumers' hedonic shopping values which are still low, so that they can affect income results and also trigger consumers to make impulse purchases. Abstract

Sumber daya alam Indonesia memiliki banyak peluang.
