Abstract

Abstract

Langusei (Ficus minahassae (Teysm.et.Vr.) Miq) is one of the endemic flora of Sulawesi which existence is increasingly threatened. Attempts to maintain the existence of Ficus minahassae species by understanding the cultivation techniques of the langusei species, especially regarding the appropriate germination techniques, need to be addressed. This study aims to determine the level of fruit maturity and the appropriate extraction treatment for the germination of langusei seeds. The experimental design used in this study was a complete randomization design which is arranged in a factorial pattern. The first factor is the classification of the level of seed maturity based on fruit color categories: 1) Orange-brown fruit, 2) Orange-reddish fruit, 3) Red fruit, and 4) Red-black fruit, while the second factor is the fruit extraction treatment which consists of: 1) Extraction with dry wind treatment for 24 hours, 2) Extraction with drying treatment for 12 hours, and 3) Extraction with water treatment for 24 hours. The results showed that the fruit maturity level and the appropriate extraction treatment to produce optimal langusei seed germination were in the orange-brown and orange-reddish fruit (mature fruits prior to ripening) which was soaked in water for 24 hours.

Abstract

Sensitivity is one of the parameters of the vulnerability in a disaster. Gunungpati Sub-district is one of the sub-districts that had a high-intensity landslide in Semarang city. Assessment of the sensitivity index to disasters is necessary to reduce vulnerabilities and to become a consideration for policy-taking factors in the emergence of disasters. The sensitivity index uses the population density, building density, sex ratio, dependency ratio, poverty rate, and education level. The method used is a weighted scoring method for each sensitivity variable. The sensitivity index of the Gunungpati Sub-district on landslide ranges from 2.6 - 2.8. Sensitivity levels of the Gunungpati Sub-district are classified into three classes there are little sensitive, moderately sensitive, and sensitive classes. Five villages have high sensitivity values. Special attention from the government is needed to increase the capacity of the population in terms of social and economic aspects to reduce the high sensitivity value in the area. Mitigation that can be done by the government related to the sensitivity of this area can be through policies such as capital assistance and training for vulnerable groups, equalization of employment, making policies, and strict control of development permits in areas at risk of landslides.

Abstract

Understanding disputing styles is very important for solving a problem. The purpose of this research is to examine descriptively the problems in the Kasinan protected forest and to identify the conflicting styles of each party so that an appropriate resolution of the problems can be developed. This research was conducted in the protected forest of Kasinan, precisely in Pesanggrahan Village, Batu City. Data collection was carried out qualitatively, namely through interviews, observation, and documentation. The analysis used adapts the Disputing Style Analysis (AGATA). The results of the research show that the problems in the Kasinan protected forest stem from the use of the forest for tourism by relying on water sources from the Kasinan protected forest. The impact was a decrease in the discharge of water flowing into the rice fields and residents' homes, resulting in protests from residents. Actors involved in the problem include residents of Pesanggrahan village, HIPPA-HIPPAM, Pesanggrahan Village Government, Sadar Alas community, Perhutani KPH Malang, BKPH Pujon, and Walhi. Each party has various problems, including environmental beauty, reducing water discharge, and tourism interests. Communities are the most disadvantaged because they feel the impact directly. Each side has a different style of conflict. However, especially for residents of the Sadar Alas community, they have a competitive dispute style. So, in an accommodation style, the village government formed a team of Kasinan Forest Utilization Problem Resolution Facilities and held meetings including villagers, HIPPA-HIPPAM, Alas Awareness Community, Perhutani, and the Mayor of Batu City to negotiate and facilitate the proposal for zoning based on local policies so that the environment is beautiful. and the tour continues. So support from parties who have full authority, such as the Mayor of Batu City, is needed in order to realize a resolution to the conflict.

Abstract

With the increasing global population, providing enough food to meet the increasing demand has become a major challenge for the food-producing sectors. Shrimp is a leading commodity in Indonesia, and their production plays an important role in the aquaculture industry. However, shrimp farming causes various types of pollution that damage the environment and aquatic biodiversity, the related impacts must be mitigated to ensure the sustainability of shrimp production. BBPBAP Jepara as an aquaculture technology developer and reviewer institution conducts environmental studies on the technology being developed. This study conducted a life cycle assessment (LCA) on shrimp farming under the Milenila Shrimps Farming system in the Jepara BBPBAB pond area. Midpoint environmental impacts including acidification potential (AP), eutrophication potential (EP) and global warming potential (GWP) were determined. Feed production was identified as the main contributor to AP and GWP for the MSF system, regardless of feed formula. While the environmental performance of feed production is highly dependent on feed conversion ratio, feed ingredients are another determining factor in which animal protein sources, including poultry by-products and fish meal, show a high contribution to AP and GWP. The use of shrimp feed is the largest contributing component of the three impacts, especially with the highest EP. Feed is the highest potential source of impact because the material used has a fish meal component which is the result of marine exploitation which has been quite large so far. In addition, other feed components are agricultural products imported from other countries which are cultivated intensively, one of which is soybean and wheat raw materials, which in their cultivation system still use chemicals and fertilizers intensively.
