Abstract

Academic stress is a common problem experienced by junior high school (SMP) students due to the increasing demands of learning and the dynamics of early adolescent development. If not managed adaptively, academic stress can reduce students' learning motivation and psychological well-being. This study aims to test the effectiveness of mindfulness-based group counseling, delivered through a mindfulness group counseling guidebook, in reducing academic stress among junior high school students. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental intact-group comparison design. The study subjects were 12 eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 24 Banjarmasin who were in the high academic stress category and were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The research instrument was an academic stress questionnaire that had undergone validity and reliability testing, with a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.889. The intervention was delivered through four group counseling sessions using breathing-in and breathing-out techniques, the 'know your emotion' exercise, body-scan meditation, and 'thank you'. Data analysis used an independent samples t-test. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05), with the experimental group showing a greater reduction in academic stress. These findings indicate that mindfulness-based group counseling is effective in reducing academic stress in junior high school students and has the potential to be developed as a preventive and responsive intervention in guidance and counseling services in schools.

Abstract

Bullying behavior in elementary schools is a problem that affects and disrupts most learning environments in schools. Bullying behavior also hinders students' personal, social, and learning development, requiring action from the school and guidance and counseling services. This study aims to analyze and describe bullying behavior among fifth-grade students at SDN Berangas Timur 1, including its forms, the factors behind it, and its impacts. In addition, it aims to examine its relationship with Albert Bandura's social learning theory and guidance and counseling in elementary schools. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach. The research subjects were 48 students in grades VA and VB at SDN Berangas Timur 1. The data collection technique used a bullying behavior questionnaire that has passed validity and reliability tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, presented as percentages and score categories. The study found that bullying behavior at SDN Berangas Timur 1 was relatively low, though it still occurred frequently. The dominant forms of bullying were physical, verbal, and relational bullying. The dominant influencing factor for bullying was personal factors (self-confidence), and the perceived impact encompassed all aspects (physical, psychological, academic, and social).

Abstract

Kesadaran sosial menjadi hal yang penting dalam perkembangan siswa, karena tanpa kesadaran yang kuat, sulit bagi seseorang untuk memahami, berinteraksi dan berempati dalam kehidupan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan tingkat kesadaran sosial siswa pada permainan Round of Dragon Snake Rainbow dan metode ceramah di SMP Negeri 30 Banjarmasin. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis komparatif. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 30 siswa di kelas VII E pada tahun ajaran 2025/2026 yang ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket kesadaran sosial dengan empat aspek, yaitu empati primal, penyesuaian, akurasi empati, dan kognisi sosial. Data dianalisis melalui uji prasyarat dan uji hipotesis menggunakan paired sampel t-test. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai Sig sebesar 0,004, dengan demikian hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kesadaran sosial siswa antara permainan Round of Dragon Snake Rainbow dan metode ceramah. Penelitian ini memberikan kesempatan kepada peneliti selanjutnya untuk mengembangkan penelitian dengan cakupan sampel yang lebih luas.
