Abstract

This study explores the lived experiences of tahfiz teachers in fostering students’ motivation through the implementation of the 3T method (Taḥsīn, Takrīr, and Tasmī‘) at Pondok Pesantren Madrasatul Qur’ān Wahab Hasbullah. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research involved three tahfiz teachers and five students as primary informants to uncover the essential meanings underlying teachers’ pedagogical, emotional, and spiritual practices in sustaining students’ engagement in Qur’ānic memorization. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, and then analyzed using thematic reduction to identify core experiential structures. The findings reveal that students’ motivation is constructed through a meaning-oriented spiritual framework rather than merely quantitative memorization targets. Teachers initiate motivational assessment to distinguish between intrinsic and extrinsic orientations, then facilitate a gradual internalization process through spiritual reflection, affective guidance, and positive reinforcement. Within this framework, the 3T method is implemented through pedagogical differentiation, where Taḥsīn strengthens foundational recitation quality and psychological readiness, Takrīr regulates cognitive load through structured repetition, and Tasmī‘ functions as a supportive evaluative space that minimizes performance anxiety. Over time, reinforcement strategies are redirected toward fostering self-regulated learning, leading to the transformation of motivation from externally driven compliance to internally sustained commitment. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that motivational transformation is inseparable from the formation of a Qur’ānic habitus characterized by cognitive mastery, emotional attachment, and sustained behavioral commitment. Ultimately, the integration of spiritual guidance and psychological support cultivates resilience, enabling students to maintain consistency despite challenges. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic education by proposing a holistic motivational model in tahfiz learning that integrates pedagogical differentiation, emotional-humanistic relationships, and spiritual internalization as a unified framework for sustainable Qur’ānic memorization.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the construction of internal motivation in memorizing the Qur'an among students participating in the Tahfidz Program at Madrasah Aliyah Unggulan KH. Abd. Wahab Hasbullah, Tambakberas, Jombang. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was employed to explore the participants' lived experiences in developing their motivation for Qur'an memorization throughout the Tahfidz program. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving Tahfidz students, the program coordinator, and Qur'an teachers as research participants. Data were analyzed interactively using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, encompassing data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal that internal motivation is constructed through four interrelated dimensions: a conducive learning environment, perseverance in coping with academic demands, future orientation, and an intrinsic need to continuously engage with the Qur'an. These dimensions are fostered through a structured Tahfidz program characterized by continuous mentoring, reflective evaluation, and the habituation of Qur'anic practices. The study concludes that the effectiveness of Tahfidz education depends not only on memorization methods but also on the institution's capacity to establish a supportive learning ecosystem that sustains students' internal motivation and enhances the overall quality of Tahfidz education. Abstract

ABSTRACT This community service project aims to develop the interest and skills of junior high school students in Kedungbogo Village in the field of technology, particularly in creating and managing running text. The program includes comprehensive training that introduces the participants to the basics of running text technology, including practical skills in designing and implementing it effectively. The training outcome shows an increase in students' technical abilities and their interest in further exploring the field of information technology. Although post-training surveys have not yet been conducted, initial indications show a positive response, with participants beginning to apply the technology for various purposes. This training is expected to enhance the students' capabilities and motivate them to continue exploring technology in their future endeavors. Abstract

Pesantren exist to reproduce ulama, yet the formalization of madrasah education has raised a real worry that this founding mission may erode once a national curriculum enters the classroom. This study asks whether a formal madrasah can still form ulama, and how. Using a qualitative multi-site case study, it examined two pesantren-based madrasahs with strong classical traditions. Data came from in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document review, and were validated through source and method triangulation, then analyzed through single-site and cross-site analysis. Three findings emerged. Curriculum orientation is deliberately directed at preserving the pesantren's intellectual tradition, its values, and the social competence of religious guidance. Implementation keeps the pesantren curriculum dominant while absorbing the national curriculum selectively, with progress gated by rigorous, tiered evaluation centered on classical texts. The outcomes are stronger student academic quality, deep community trust in graduates, and institutional growth. The study proposes a conceptual model of the ulama-cadre madrasah curriculum. Its implication is that ulama reproduction can be managed as a planned curricular outcome, offering formal madrasahs a workable path to meet national standards without surrendering the substance of pesantren education.
