Abstract

Investment is one of the essential factors in regional development because it can increase the attractiveness of a location for doing business and encourage economic growth. Increased investment is needed to encourage regional development in Indonesia, including the border area of West Kalimantan. This study aims to analyze the level of inequality in development investment in the border and non-border areas of West Kalimantan and examine more deeply the level of inequality within the region and between regions in the border area of West Kalimantan. The inequality analysis method used in this study is the Williamson Index and Theil Entropy Index. The analysis results show that the per capita investment inequality in non-border areas is higher than in border areas. Inequality in per capita investment in border areas is in the moderate category, but this inequality has tended to increase in the last five years. The investment disparity between the five regencies in the border area is higher when compared to the level of investment disparity between the border and non-border herd.

Abstract

Rata-rata kepentingan (4,4) melebihi rata-rata kinerja (3,7), menandakan kesenjangan pelayanan.

Abstract

Education is a fundamental element of human life; however, many communities still do not receive adequate educational services, including in Gunungkidul Regency. Based on data from Badan Pusat Statistik, Gunungkidul has the lowest average years of schooling in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province, at 7.32 years during the 2021–2023 period. Improving educational outcomes requires adequate educational facilities. Therefore, this study examines the availability and accessibility of Senior High School (SMA) facilities in Gunungkidul. The data used in this study include the spatial distribution of SMA locations, population distribution data, and road network data. Buffer analysis and Nearest Neighbor Analysis were applied in this research. The data sources were obtained from BPS, the Indonesia Geospatial Portal, Google Earth, and the Badan Informasi Geospasial, integrating multiple sources for comprehensive analysis. The results show that out of 24 SMA in Gunungkidul, 15 are located in the central region, 5 in the northern region, and 4 in the southern part. SMA facilities are largely concentrated in the central or urban core area, indicating that their availability is unevenly distributed. Accessibility to SMA facilities is also relatively unequal, with considerable distances between schools in several districts, particularly in four southern districts.

Abstract

According to the Regulation of the Minister of ATR/BPN of the Republic of Indonesia No. 14 of 2022 concerning the Provision and Utilization of Green Open Space, an area must have at least 30% Green Open Space of its total area with details of 20% as Public Green Open Space and 10% as Private Green Open Space. The availability of Public Green Open Space in Pangkalpinang City is ± 1,486 ha or ± 14% of the total area, less than 6% of the applicable provisions. The purpose of writing this scientific article is to determine the potential distribution of Public Green Open Space in Pangkalpinang City as an effort to fulfill the availability of Green Open Space in the area. The variables or data used are open land by considering residential / non-residential areas, building density, distance from roads and distance from rivers, as well as land ownership or control status, content in the Spatial Plan, and Green Open Space typology. This study uses overlay analysis techniques to determine the distribution of potential Public Green Open Space in the Pangkalpinang Region. The results of the study indicate that there is still a distribution of potential land that can be developed into public green open space including green open space areas/zones in the form of road borders and other areas/zones in the form of areas that provide protection to the area below, spring borders, underpasses, beaches, and rivers. The distribution of potential public green open space can be used as a consideration in fulfilling the availability of public green open space in the Pangkalpinang area of 20% of its area. The fulfillment of Public Green Open Space can provide ecological and social functions for the surrounding environment.

Abstract

Hydroponic cultivation has emerged as a strategic approach in community empowerment initiatives, particularly in contexts characterized by limited land availability, declining soil fertility, and constrained access to conventional agricultural practices. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a hydroponic training program in enhancing participants’ knowledge and readiness to adopt soilless cultivation techniques. A pretest and posttest design was employed to assess ten indicators encompassing fundamental hydroponic concepts, system typologies, nutrient management, and critical plant growth parameters. The findings revealed substantial improvements in participants’ knowledge, as evidenced by markedly higher post-test scores across all indicators. Significant gains were observed in participants’ understanding of suitable crop selection, optimal pH regulation, nutrient solution management, and the appropriate use of measurement instruments. Importantly, these enhanced competencies were translated into practical implementation, with participants, particularly members of the PKK group, successfully establishing hydroponic systems, conducting harvesting activities, and commercializing their produce through local bazaars. This outcome underscores the program’s tangible contribution to small-scale food production and the generation of supplementary household income. Taken together, the study demonstrates that structured and practice-oriented hydroponic training effectively strengthens technical capacity while fostering community empowerment and sustainable livelihood development

Abstract

Law No. 6/2014 concerning villages mandates that each village form a Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) to realize village independence. The existence of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) as economic assets in villages, with complete community management, has yet to be utilized to support the community's economy. The number of BUMDes in Indonesia continues to increase each year, but not all can achieve independence in practice. Malaka Regency is located in the border area, making it a strategic area where BUMDes can improve village economies, thereby impacting development in Malaka Regency. This research aims to analyze the characteristics of BUMDES in Malaka Regency. This research uses quantitative and qualitative approaches. The data collection method involved collecting secondary and primary data: primary data in the form of BUMDes condition data, and data obtained through interviews and questionnaires with the village government and BUMDes administrators. The secondary data was obtained from the Malaka Regency Community and Village Empowerment Service and the Central Statistics Agency. The results of the analysis show that the development of BUMDES characteristics in Malaka Regency tends to be homogeneous, as indicated by several indicators, namely contribution to superior products, length of business, number of employees, number and type of businesses, capital, turnover, profit, and PADes donations. Of the 86 Bumdes in Malaka Regency, most were established in 2018; the majority have gone bankrupt or are not running, so they are currently being revitalized.

Abstract

The Regional Regulation of West Kalimantan Province prohibits new land opening in the peat ecosystem area until zoning for the area's protection and cultivation functions has been determined for specific plants. Based on the 2022 satellite image maps overlaid with the boundaries of the Ambawang Village Forest, it is known that 309.7 hectares of land have been cleared, thereby reducing the area's primary function. This research aims to determine when land cover changes occur in the peat ecosystem of the Ambawang Village Forest. The required data are field survey data, satellite imagery maps from 2004, 2009, 2016, and 2022, a map of the West Kalimantan terrain, an indicative map of production forest utilization directions for 2021, and the boundaries of the Ambawang Village Forest map. The analytical method used is a descriptive analysis with a spatial approach. The result indicates that between 2004 and 2016, there was a change in land cover from medium-density secondary swamp/peat forest to non-forest (deforestation) covering an area of 309.7 hectares. Between 2009 and 2016, forest land continued to be cleared to make way for natural/semi-natural open areas, shrublands, and oil palm plantations. From 2016 to 2022, forest clearing ceased, the area of oil palm plantations remained constant, and shrubland increased. It shows there is no violation of the West Kalimantan Province Regional Regulation number 8 of 2021, as the forest land was cleared before this regulation was enacted.
