Abstract

Indonesia is a pluralistic country that is faced with a challenge in social life. One of the social problems that often occurs in Indonesia is the conflict between individuals or groups on behalf of community organizations, ethnic groups, and cultures, one of which is caused by intolerance. Thus, an educational approach is needed that aims to prevent conflict early on. Multicultural education is an educational approach that is oriented towards developing the human potential to develop an attitude of respect for various kinds of diversity. This study is a literature review that aims to produce an analytical description of multicultural education in terms of concept, internalization of multicultural education in elementary schools, and the role of multicultural education in early conflict prevention efforts in elementary schools. Data collection was done by searching for articles according to the topic using the Publish or Perish application. The results of this study are that the concept of multicultural education is the process of teaching an attitude of acceptance of diversity; multicultural education in schools can be done by integration in all types of subjects; multicultural education plays a role in early conflict prevention efforts that can be realized in appreciating differences and diversity of learner backgrounds, social status, beliefs, and ethnicity, culture.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop a Flipped Classroom-Based e-LKPD (Electronic Student Worksheet) oriented towards the literacy of elementary school students. The Flipped Classroom-Based e-LKPD is developed to facilitate learning both at home and at school, thereby maximizing students’ literacy training. The research uses the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model of research and development. Data were collected using student literacy test instruments, questionnaires, and interview sheets with a research sample of 150 students. The results showed that the Flipped Classroom-Based e-LKPD oriented towards literacy is valid and can be used. The validation score percentages from material, media, language experts, and practitioners averaged 97%, categorized as “very valid.” The increase in students’ literacy skills also improved with an average N-Gain score of 0.65. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Flipped Classroom-Based e-LKPD oriented towards the literacy of elementary school students can be used and is effective in training the literacy skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

Education is one of the needs that must be met in developing one's potential to have religious spiritual strength, self-control, personality, intelligence, noble character, and the skills needed by oneself, society, nation and country. However, based on the problems in the field, it is known that there is no learning media used in the learning process. The purpose of this research and development is to improve student learning outcomes through pop-up book media and to see the differences before and after the use of pop-up book media. The research method used in this research is Research and Development. The sampling technique used in this study used a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis in this study used a paired sample t-test with the help of SPSS 25.0 software. Based on the results of the study, there are differences in pop-up book media before and after the use of pop-up book media and there is an increase in student learning outcomes after using pop-up book media.

Abstract

Critical thinking is important to be honed and improved. The purpose of this study is to measure the influence of the learning model of Team Games Tournaments (TGT) assisted by media question cards on the improvement of critical thinking skills of fourth grade elementary school students. This research method uses a quantitative approach with a quasi experiment method which is a non-equivalent control group design. This research involves a control class and an experimental class. The control class consisted of 21 students and the experimental class consisted of 31 students. The data collection technique in this study is in the form of a test with a test question instrument. The data analysis used is the Mann Whitney test. The results of the analysis obtained a significance value of 0.00 which is smaller than the probability of 0.05 so that there is a difference between the control class and the experimental class. From the comparison of pretest and posttest results, the difference in pretest and posttest scores in the experimental class was higher than in the control class. In conclusion, there is a significant influence in the use of the Team Games Tournaments learning model assisted by question cards on improving the critical thinking skills of fourth grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Writing is one of the important language abilities for students in universities. However, previous studies indicate that students' writing ability remains low, primarily due to their inadequate basic writing skills. This research is aimed to describe the students’ writing ability of national insight-based text genre in university. A qualitative approach with descriptive method was used in this research. The research subjects consisted of 30 students in a university located in Bekasi, Indonesia. The research data collection techniques consisted of writing tests of national insight-based text genres and interviews. Research data were analyzed through the data reduction, presentation, and verification. The results showed that generally the average of students’ writing ability of national insight-based text genres was still under the minimum standard of passing grade in writing standard of Indonesian language learning in universities. In descriptive and exposition texts, the most difficulties were found in the aspects of content organization, grammar, style (choice of structure and vocabulary), and spelling and grammar. In the procedure text, the difficulties were found in the five indicators of writing ability. Moreover, the content of national insight on the three types of texts have not been fully internalized in the text. This research provides an opportunity for further research regarding the development of national insight-based of Indonesian language teaching materials for students in universities. This study adds new information regarding sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Abstract

Literasi sains adalah kemampuan yang dibutuhkan untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan yang dihadapi manusia di zaman modern yang berkaitan dengan ilmu pengetahuan serta teknologi. Berdasarkan observasi dan wawancara diketahui bahwa tingkat literasi sains peserta didik kelas IV tergolong rendah, hal ini ditandai dengan mengalami kesulitan dalam mengidentifikasi permasalahan terkait sains, memberikan penjelasan terkait fenomena ilmiah, dan membuat kesimpulan dari data yang disajikan. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan maka dibutuhan adanya pengembangan suatu media pembelajaran yang ditujukan untuk meningkatkan literasi sains. Metode penelitian, yaitu RnD dengan model pengembangan ADDIE. Menggunakan teknik purposive sampling sejumlah 60 peserta didik kelas IV dari SDN 1 Wonorejo, SDN 2 Sukorejo, SDN 2 Ngrayung, dan SDN 4 Sukorejo. Hasil validasi ahli materi adalah 87,14% dengan kategori “Sangat Sesuai”, validasi ahli media adalah 86,25% dengan kategori “Sangat Sesuai”, validasi ahli bahasa adalah 76% dengan kategori “Baik”, dan validasi ahli praktisi adalah 90% dengan kategori “Sangat Praktis”. Hasil uji skala lapangan menunjukkan kenaikan nilai sebesar 58,30%, serta persentase angket respons dari peserta didik mencapai rata-rata 91,82% dan dari pendidik mencapai rata-rata 83%. Hasil uji efektifitan menggunakan uji N-Gain menunjukkan nilai rata-rata 57,87% termasuk dalam kriteria “Cukup Efektif”.
