The conclusion of the results of this study shows are as follows: (1) Facilities and infrastructure in tourist areas currently only consist of several types. The existing facilities and infrastructure do not meet tourism quality standards due to lack of attention from the local government; (2) The Tourism Office faces several challenges in developing the tourism sector. This is because tourism is not considered a primary or leading sector in these areas; (3) The development of the tourism sector cannot be separated from the progress of information technology which is increasingly spreading in various regions in Southeast Sulawesi Province. The suggestion from the results of this study is that the Southeast Sulawesi government should hold/collect levies for each district that has tourist attractions to increase PAD.

Abstract

Indonesia’s abundance of minerals places the country in a paradoxical position, caught between the opportunity to build new economic sovereignty and the risk of becoming trapped in technological dependence and global economic power imbalances. This study aims to analyse the role of critical minerals in shaping the global economic geopolitical landscape and its implications for efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s national economic sovereignty. The study employs a qualitative approach with an exploratory-analytical economic geopolitical research design. The findings confirm that the future of Indonesia’s economic sovereignty within the geopolitics of critical minerals is not solely determined by the abundance of natural resources, but by the state’s ability to transform mineral wealth into a foundation of technological, institutional, and economic justice capable of critically navigating the complexities of the global green economy, which simultaneously opens up new opportunities for power and the risk of deeper geopolitical inequalities. The practical implications demand a paradigm shift in policy from mere resource nationalism towards a more radical and inclusive strategy of technological and industrial sovereignty, whilst theoretically opening up space for the development of new energy geopolitical studies that are more sensitive to the dimensions of domestic power and global inequality within the green economy.

Abstract

Spatial planning has been recognized as a critical tool for guiding regional development in alignment with environmental conservation and food security objectives. However, in practice, discrepancies often exist between formal spatial planning and adaptive, locally-based agricultural systems. This gap creates a knowledge divide in understanding how spatial and agroecological aspects can be synergistically integrated to support the sustainability of agricultural areas. This study aims to explore the integration of spatial planning and agroecology practices to enhance the carrying capacity of agricultural zones within rural development areas. The research employs a qualitative approach with a sequential explanatory design, beginning with in-depth interviews with local stakeholders in North Konawe Regency. The findings indicate that strengthening the carrying capacity of agricultural areas requires a more contextual integration between spatial planning policies and community agroecological practices, which, in turn, enhances the effectiveness of regionally-based development planning. These results have theoretical implications for expanding the understanding of the interrelationship between spatial planning and agroecology, as well as practical implications for formulating policies that leverage local potentials to achieve sustainable rural development.

Abstract

Abstract

Social inequality and economic vulnerability remain persistent challenges in contemporary societies despite the expansion of welfare policies and social protection systems. Economic growth has not been evenly distributed, leaving significant segments of the population exposed to income insecurity, precarious employment, and limited access to welfare benefits. This study aims to analyze social inequality and economic vulnerability through a social economic perspective that examines how welfare policy design interacts with labor market structures and social institutions. The research employs a qualitative research design combining policy document analysis, secondary socio-economic data review, and interpretive analysis of welfare policy implementation. The findings reveal that existing welfare policies tend to provide short-term relief while inadequately addressing the structural drivers of vulnerability, particularly informal employment, labor market flexibilization, and institutional exclusion. Economic vulnerability is shown to extend beyond officially defined poverty, affecting near-poor and precariously employed groups who remain insufficiently protected by current welfare frameworks. The study concludes that welfare policy effectiveness depends not only on resource allocation but also on institutional alignment with contemporary economic realities. A social economic approach is essential for understanding inequality as a dynamic and structural phenomenon, and for informing welfare reforms aimed at enhancing inclusivity, resilience, and long-term social protection.

Abstract

The service industry heavily relies on the quality of service provided by employees, with Emotional Quotient (EQ) playing a crucial role in enhancing individual performance and organizational effectiveness. While EI is widely recognized as a key factor in improving workplace interactions and customer satisfaction, many organizations still prioritize technical skills over emotional and interpersonal development. This study examines the role of EQ in the service industry, focusing on its impact on both individual and organizational performance. It explores EQ dimensions, challenges in its development, and strategies for enhancing human resource quality to foster a harmonious and productive work environment. A qualitative descriptive approach is employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with human resource managers, supervisors, customer service employees, academics, and industrial psychologists to analyze the relationship between EQ and employee performance. The findings reveal that EQ not only enhances employees' ability to manage stress and build interpersonal relationships but also plays a strategic role in improving leadership effectiveness and customer service quality. This study underscores the importance of integrating EQ into human resource management policies to cultivate a more adaptive, productive, and sustainable work environment in the service industry.
