Abstract

A Child-Friendly District is a form of mandatory government affairs that focuses on empowering women and protecting children to ensure every child gets their rights according to the Convention on Children's Rights, as regulated in West Aceh Regent Regulation Number 40 of 2018. This research aims to evaluate the role of the Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Family Planning Service in implementing the Child-Friendly District concept in West Aceh Regency. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. There were six informants for this research. The research results show that implementing the concept of a Child-Friendly District in West Aceh Regency has not been optimal. Based on Biddle and Thomas' theory, the role as a policy has been running optimally, but the role as a strategy and communication tool has not been implemented well. The main obstacles include lacking human resources, facilities, budget, and communication between organizations and activity implementers. Apart from that, the lack of outreach and communication by the Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Family Planning Services means that the public does not fully know the status of the Child-Friendly District in West Aceh Regency. In conclusion, although there are efforts to implement a child-friendly district in West Aceh Regency, improvements are still needed in various aspects to achieve optimal implementation.

Abstract

The integration of generative e-poetry like Taroko Gorge into literary education addresses the growing need to bridge traditional and digital literacy in contemporary learning environments. This study aims to explore how Taroko Gorge enhances students’ engagement and critical thinking, and to identify the possible strategies for its integration into curricula. Using a qualitative approach, this research combines observations, documentation, and interviews with 85 English Literature students at a university in East Java. The findings of this study reveal that Taroko Gorge fosters high levels of engagement and analytical rigor while challenging students to adapt to dynamic textual interpretations. Effective integration strategies include interactive discussions and scaffolded analysis, which align with its generative nature. However, limitations in interdisciplinary applications and sample diversity suggest the need for further research. This study contributes to pedagogical innovation by positioning e-poetry as a transformative tool for modern literary education.

Abstract

Abstract

The Community Service Activity (PkM) is an integral part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which aims to apply academic knowledge for the welfare of society. This PkM was conducted on May 21, 2025, at the Cultural Heritage Site of the National Hero Teuku Umar’s Tomb in West Aceh, as part of the 10th National Sociology Conference attended by sociology lecturers from various universities across Indonesia. The program aimed to preserve the historical site while strengthening the social and ecological values of the surrounding community through environmental revitalization and tree planting activities. The approach used was a problem-solving method with stages of preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed improvements in environmental cleanliness and aesthetics, as well as active community participation in preserving the site. Beyond ecological benefits, the activity fostered social cohesion and collective awareness of cultural heritage preservation. Academically, this PkM serves as tangible evidence of the Tri Dharma implementation and demonstrates sociology’s practical contribution in addressing social challenges and supporting sustainable local development.

Abstract

The phenomenon of job termination (PHK) and promotion failure for pregnant women is a crucial issue reflecting gender inequality in the workplace. Although various studies have addressed gender-based discrimination, research that specifically examines the psychosocial impact of job termination and promotion failure on pregnant women remains limited. This study aims to understand the subjective experiences of pregnant women affected by job termination or promotion failure and to analyze how these conditions influence their emotional and social wellbeing. This research employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with several pregnant women who experienced job termination or promotion failure. Secondary data is collected through a systematic analysis of relevant online news articles. The data analysis process for this study uses thematic analysis to identify patterns of experience and the main contributing factors. The main findings reveal that job termination and promotion failure lead to high emotional distress, financial anxiety, and a sense of lost professional identity. This study contributes conceptually to understanding gender-based discrimination and enriches qualitative research methods through the combination of primary and secondary data. The study’s limitations include a limited number of Informant and the potential bias of secondary data sources. Future research is recommended to expand the number and diversity of Informant, adopt a longitudinal approach, and advocate for gender-based labor protection policies to create a more inclusive and equitable work environment

Abstract

Increasing interest in lectures through outreach activities and providing motivation to students is an important thing to do. This activity is an important part of one of the obligations of lecturers who must carry out community service. The implementation of this activity is very much in line with the national development agenda in improving the quality of human resources through the education sector. The method of implementing this activity begins with observation and surveys to determine the condition of the school and the potential of students at SMAN 1 Woyla Barat, West Aceh District. The team conducted a pre test and post test to measure the accuracy and usefulness of the activity. The presenters explained material about tertiary institutions, selection pathways, scholarship information, inspirational stories, and motivation to increase students' insight and interest in continuing their education to tertiary institutions. The success of this activity was marked by the enthusiasm and positive response of the students who gave very good scores in the evaluation questionnaire. Activities like this need to be carried out in several underdeveloped areas so that students in those areas receive information about tertiary institutions and are motivated to continue their education at tertiary institutions.
