Abstract

Tofu industry liquid waste, which is still contains high concentration of organic materials, is one of the causes of pollution in environment. On the other hand, clay can be used as adsorbent and easily to be obtained. The aim of this study was to reduce ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite concentration on liquid waste of tofu industry using colected clay from three different locations at laboratory scale. Clay was collected from Kalukubula, Beka and Sibowi villages at Sigi District Central Sulawesi Province. Each clay was activated by 0.1 M HCl, 0.1 M NH4Cl or 0.1 M NaOH. The result showed that clay from Beka village has highest capacity to reduce nitrate, nitrite and ammonia concentration on liquid waste of tofu industry. Clay from Kalukubula village was better as absorbent than clay from Sibowi village.  The strength of activator in increasing clay adsorptive was followed this order: NaOH < NH4Cl < HCl. Clay from Beka Village when activated by HCl 0.1 M, it could reduce 47.52%, 54.00% and 58.89% of amonia, nitrate and nitrite concentration, respectively.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian aplikasi fotokatalis TiO2-Zeolit untuk menurunkan intensitas zat warna Tartrazin secara fotokatalitik.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari kombinasi dosis fotokatalis dan waktu penyinaran terbaik untuk menrunkan intensitas zat warna Tartrazin.KonsentrasiTartrazin 20 ppm sebanyak 100 mL ditambahkan dengan 50; 75; 100; 125 dan 150 mg fotokatalis TiO2-Zeolit dengan penyinaran sinar-UVA (365 nm) selama 40; 80; 120; 160 dan 200 menit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penggunaan dosis fotokatalis TiO2-Zeolit sebanyak 100 mg dengan lama radiasi UV A 200 menit mampu mendegradasi Tartrazin sebesar 77,10 %.

Abstract

An investigation about Mercury metal content in marine sediment around Poboya stream has been done. The sediment samples were collected at 5 points of Poboya stream with 0; 15 and 30 days of time variations. The physical conditions of the water was analyzed i.e pH, temperature and salinity. The result showed that the lowest and the highest Mercury metal content (0,0103 and 0,185 mg/Kg) were found at point E and C respectively. It was found at the second and the first sampling accordingly. There was no significant increase of Mercury accumulation by time. In general, the Mercury metal content in the sediment around Poboya stream was still under government rule.

Abstract

"> Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak kulit ari biji kopi (Coffea sp) berdasarkan tingkat kepolaran pelarut. Penelitian ini diawali dengan melakukan ekstraksi menggunakan pelarut metanol, selanjutnya dilakukan fraksinasi dengan pelarut nheksana, etil asetat dan n-butanol. Ekstrak hasil fraksinasi dengan n-heksana, etil asetat dann-butanol diuji aktivitas antioksidannya dengan metode DPPH. Hasil yang diperoleh untuk aktivitas antioksidan (IC50) pada ekstrak n-heksana, etil asetat, n-butanol dan vitamin C masing ? masing adalah 1182,2 ppm, 823,52 ppm, 556,67 ppm dan 101,85 ppm.
