Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve the learning outcomes of fourth grade students of SD Negeri 4 Lahat Selatan in the subject of Social Studies on the material "Various Jobs" through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. The subjects of the study were 15 students. The study was conducted in three stages, namely initial learning (pre-cycle), cycle I, and cycle II. In the initial learning, only 40% of students achieved the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) ≥ 65, while the other 60% had not completed it. After improvements were made to learning in cycle I, the percentage of completion increased to 67%, but had not reached the target for learning success. Further improvements were made in cycle II, by correcting deficiencies in cycle I, such as adding learning media. As a result, all students (100%) achieved scores above the KKM. The results of the study indicate that the application of the right Problem Based Learning learning model can effectively improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of the Karo community regarding gender equality in Jandi Meriah Village, Tiganderket District, Karo Regency. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and observations. Participants consisted of religious leaders, educators, and a diverse group of community members. The findings indicate that the majority of the community still views men as family leaders, while women are positioned as homemakers. Although formal education and religious teachings have begun to introduce the values of equality, their application in daily life remains limited by traditional norms. The younger generation demonstrates more egalitarian views; however, strong cultural influences continue to hinder the achievement of true gender equality. This study concludes that while progress has been made in understanding gender equality, greater efforts are needed to change entrenched practices and norms within the Karo community.

Abstract

The Audiolingual Method is a language teaching approach that emphasizes habit formation through repeated practice and positive reinforcement. The main aim of this service activity is to assist and introduce teachers to the audio-lingual method which can form students' correct language habits through intensive repetition of language patterns. In practice, teaching with this method begins with listening and speaking exercises before reading and writing. Applying this method requires students to memorize dialogue, imitate intonation and pronunciation correctly, and respond automatically to verbal stimuli. Correction of errors is carried out directly to prevent the formation of wrong habits. The use of the mother tongue is minimized, even avoided, so that students get used to thinking in English. The result of this activity is that the teachers are very enthusiastic in learning and applying the audiolingual method. Moreover, this activity is strengthened by participants and practical application directly to students. Overall, the Audiolingual method is effective in the early stages of language learning, especially to build basic oral skills. However, it needs to be combined with other approaches so that language mastery becomes more balanced and communicative.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the integration of religious values within Sasak traditions as a form of ethnopedagogical education in the Lombok community. Using a qualitative approach, this research analyzes how Islamic values are combined with local traditions in the daily life of the Sasak people. The study finds that religious and cultural leaders play a central role in conveying religious values through cultural ceremonies, sermons, and informal learning related to Sasak culture. Furthermore, this tradition-based education proves effective in shaping the religious and social character of the younger generation, by connecting religious teachings with relevant cultural practices. The findings of this study are expected to provide new insights into the importance of utilizing local traditions in religious and character education in multicultural societies.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of social interaction in the character development of preschool children in Sembalun Village, Lombok. The main focus of this research is to identify the impact of interactions with family, early childhood education (PAUD) institutions, and peers on children's character development. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used, involving direct observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the family plays a fundamental role in instilling core character values such as honesty, responsibility, and discipline. Additionally, PAUD institutions in Sembalun support character development through culturally-based approaches and group activities that promote empathy, tolerance, and cooperation. Interaction with peers also significantly contributes to social learning, where children learn to manage conflicts, share, and appreciate differences. This study emphasizes the importance of collaboration between families, educational institutions, and communities in supporting the early character development of children. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of early childhood education policies, particularly in rural areas with strong local cultural traditions.

Abstract

Lombok is a region characterized by cultural, ethnic, and social diversity, which necessitates the implementation of multicultural values in education. Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) play a strategic role as religious-based educational institutions in fostering tolerance among students. This study aims to describe the implementation of multicultural education in Islamic boarding schools in Lombok and its contribution to the development of students’ tolerance attitudes. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with pesantren leaders, teachers, and students, as well as document analysis of learning activities and pesantren culture. The findings indicate that multicultural education in Lombok’s Islamic boarding schools is implemented through the integration of tolerance values in classroom learning, educators’ role modeling, religious and social activities, and daily habituation of living together in a diverse pesantren environment. These practices contribute to the development of mutual respect, openness, and acceptance of differences among students. The study concludes that Islamic boarding schools have significant potential as strategic spaces for the development of multicultural education oriented toward strengthening students’ tolerance attitudes.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PkM) aims to strengthen students’ literary literacy through training in the appreciation of local folklore to foster students’ character development at SMPN 2 Selong. This program was motivated by several issues, including students’ low level of literary literacy, literature instruction that remains focused on memorization, and the limited integration of character education in Indonesian language learning. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of planning, implementation of literary appreciation training, mentoring, and evaluation stages. The training materials emphasized understanding the intrinsic elements of folklore, interpreting moral values, and reflecting on character values relevant to students’ daily lives. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ literary literacy, particularly in their ability to comprehend story content, identify literary elements, interpret moral messages, and express ideas both orally and in written form. In addition, the program contributed to the strengthening of character values such as honesty, responsibility, cooperation, and social awareness. Folklore-based literary learning also enhanced students’ motivation, participation, and active engagement in the learning process. These findings demonstrate that the appreciation of local folklore can serve as an effective and contextual alternative strategy for literary learning. Therefore, this program has the potential to be implemented sustainably to support the development of literary literacy and character education in secondary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of internalizing the environmental care character through science learning in elementary schools in East Lombok, covering its planning, implementation, and the supporting and inhibiting factors. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Informants comprised classroom teachers, principals, and fifth-grade students selected purposively. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, using observation guides, interview guides, and documentation checklists as instruments. Data were analysed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation and member checking. The findings reveal that internalization occurred through three interrelated stages—moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action—actualised in habituation, direct environmental observation, and project-based activities, and reinforced by Sasak local wisdom. Environmental care was manifested in waste sorting, plant care, and water conservation. Teacher role-modelling and the school green culture were the primary supporting factors, whereas limited facilities and inconsistent habituation were the main inhibiting factors. The study concludes that contextual and culturally grounded science learning effectively internalizes the environmental care character.
