Abstract

The good education tools and infrastructure becomes one of the important components in supporting the improvement of national education system. Furniture is one of the supporting tools. Furniture is designed to support the user’s activities in this case, they are children. It means that if their physicsgrow in accordance to their ages, consequently, the table and the chair must be suitable to their size. When it is ignored, it will influence their physical growing and decreases relieve their concentration in the learning process because of the uncomfortablefurniture and it even can influence their health. This research aims to get a description of furniture design in the early children’s study room in PAUD/ TK AL KHOIR Surakarta based on the erghonomy and anthropometry. The children table, chair, and shelf become the research focus because the furniture directly in touch with the children when they have learning process in class. The research uses the method of descriptive with qualitative and quantitative approach or namely the multiple strategy of research. It means that it uses various methods in solving the research problems.Quantitative approach is meant to use numeric data resulted from the field measurement observation, then it is compared with the referred reference and analyzed based onresearcher’s interpretation sourced from field analysis. The result of this research shows that during this time, anthropometry size used in furniture making has commonly been suitable with the children size of 6 to 7 years. Otherwise, there is still a note that is the table width needs to be increased, the hip seat and the backrest need to be adapted to the form of children hip bone and backbone or it can be given foam in order to make comfortable when the children sit for a long time. The shelf size has been suitable with the children’s reach. Keywords: Anthropometry, furniture, PAUD (pre elementary school)

Abstract

Abstract Parks are important parts that cannot be left out in the design of urban landscape, architecture and interior design. Its existence is able to provide a fresh and comfortable atmosphere so that the quality of human life will be better. In its development, the availability of an ideal park in an urban environment is felt to be lack due to the increasingly limited land such as the narrow yard of the house or even no more area to make the park. Another challenge is how to utilize limited areas for in-door parks in both residential and public buildings that are more practical and efficient. This applied research aims to address this problem by offering a garden design with a hydroponic planting system which is now commonly used in agriculture or plantations to be applied to in-door garden designs. The research carried out in Surakarta is the process through identification, design experiments and design trials. The data in the form of artifacts, literature, and informants is carried out through observation, study of literature, interviews, and documentation. Design experiments are carried out using a design and aesthetic approach strengthened by an evocative, educative, psychological and socio-cultural approach. The SWOT analysis model is used in designing in-door garden designs. Design trials is executed through the activities of realizing design (experimental products) and their application (design implementation), evaluation, refinement of design concepts and formulation of recommendations. Keywords: in-door garden, hydroponic, narrow land, Surakarta. Keywords: taman in-door, hydroponic, lahan sempit, Surakarta.

Abstract

Abstract Restroom is as a supporting facility in a public building functioning to be a room for such activities as washing hand, washing face, urinating, and defecating. This room is equipped with a variety of toilet sets including washtafel (was basin), and some forms of closet, bidet and urinoir and other room facilities such as tissue paper and rubbish basket. Surakarta as a cultural, business, and trading business have many public buildings. Attention should be paid to how those buildings can have supporting facilities such as restroom with good sanitation, comfortable, and cultured as the form of good public service to children, adult, and disabled. This applied research aims to answer the problem related to the function of sanitation and restroom form existing in Surakarta and to give design-related solution based on field and literature data. The research procedure included identification, design experiment, and design trial. To explore data of artifact, literature, and informant, observation, literature study, interview, and documentation techniques were used. Design experiment was conducted using design approach and confirmed with evocative, educative, psychological, and social-cultural approaches. SWOT analysis model was used to formulate the restroom design. Design trial was conducted through such activities as design realization (experiment product) and its implementation (design implementation), evaluation, design concept perfecting, and recommendation formulation. Keywords: optimization, restroom design, public building, Surakarta
