Abstract

Background: The high mortality rate in COVID-19 patients is associated with demographic factors and comorbid conditions. This is supported by research which shows that a history of comorbidities causes 88% of deaths in SARS-CoV-2 positive patients.Consequently, it is important to identify factors associated with poor outcomes among COVID-19 patients. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the main factors that cause COVID-19 mortality in Indonesia. Methods: The research design used a retrospective cohort. The population of this study was all Covid-19 patients treated at the 'Aisiyah Ponorogo General Hospital from March to December 2021, totalling 881. The data was arrangedbased on the completeness of the medical records, and seven respondents had to be excluded due to incomplete data. Therefore, the total number of samples used was 874 patients. Data was analyzed using logistic regression.Result: The multivariate analysis showed that patients aged 46-65 years were 1.45 times greater potential to die than than patients who were 0-25 years old.  The risk factors for comorbidities had an effect on the mortality of patients with confirmed cases of COVID-19.The variables that had a significant effect on the mortality of COVID-19 included Diabetes mellitus (OR=1.36), Hypertension (OR = 1.78) and heart disease (OR = 1.4).Conclusion: The most common causes of mortality in Covid-19 patients are age and comorbidities diseases, there are diabetes mellitus, hypertension and heart disease

Abstract

The chronic hyperglycemia of diabetes is associated with long-term damage, dysfunction, and failure of different organs. Physical activity is one of the factors that affect glycemic management. This case study aims to maintain the stability of blood sugar levels in DM patients by applying leg exercises. The design of this research is a case report with a nursing process approach carried out on Diabetes Mellitus patients with nursing problems of unstable blood sugar levels. Nursing care was carried out for seven days at the Muhammadiyah Ponorogo General Hospital. The intervention implemented is foot exercises. The results of the case study are presented in the form of nursing documentation. The case study results showed that the patient's blood sugar levels tended to be stable starting on the second day of the intervention.Exercise-induced glycemic control is mostly explained by an increase in whole-body insulin sensitivity. The long-term advantages of frequent exercise on glycemic control appear to be related to the cumulative effect of transitory gains in insulin sensitivity and glycemic control after each bout of exercise, rather than structural changes in insulin sensitivity. Keywords: blood sugar level; diabetes mellitus; foot exercise

Abstract

Abstract

Controlling blood sugar levels is the key to the treatment program by reducing weight, diet, and exercise. Physical activity is one factor affecting glycemic management for Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients. This case study aims to maintain the stability of blood sugar levels in DM patients by applying walking exercises. The design of this research is a case report with a nursing process approach carried out on Diabetes Mellitus patients with nursing problems of unstable blood sugar levels. The Bendo Community Health Center carried out nursing care for seven days. The intervention implemented is walking exercises. The case study results are presented in the form of nursing documentation. The case study results showed that the patient's blood sugar levels tended to be stable starting on the second day of the intervention. An increase in whole-body insulin sensitivity mostly explains exercise-induced glycemic control. Abstract

Impaired physical mobility is a result of blocked blood vessels due to stroke. Functions lost due to motor disorders in stroke patients result in extremity dysfunction, there by reducing muscle strength. A form of management to restore muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients is Range of Motion (ROM) Cyindrical Grip which is useful for improving the ability to move joints normally to increase muscle mass. Nursing care for Mrs. R with nursing problems with physical mobility disorders is carried out in the KH. Ahmad Dahlan Room RSU Muhammadiyah of Ponorogo for 6 days from 28 July to 02 August 2023. The method used is a case study with a nursing process approach. The results of the assessment showed that the client experienced weakness in the left limb and a history of hypertension. The nursing action taken to overcome the problem is by implementing the ROM Cylindrical Grip exercise. It can be concluded that the ROM Cylindrical Grip can increase the muscle strength of the upper extremities in non-hemorrhagic stroke sufferers. After doing 2 x 10 minutes of exercise for 5 days, the muscle strength of the upper extremities in non-hemorrhagic stroke sufferers increased from 0 to 1. The results of this study, if the ROM Cylindrical Grip was carried out periodically and continuously, resulted in gripping muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke sufferers increase.Keyword: Impaired Physical Mobility, Muscle Strength, ROM Cylindrical Grip, Non Hemorrhagic Stroke
