Abstract

This program is designed to provide hands-on training, resources, and long-term support to individuals and families, especially women and youth, in rural areas. By equipping participants with the knowledge and tools necessary for successful goat rearing, the program not only creates opportunities for additional income but also strengthens food resilience and self-sufficiency at the grassroots level. This community service program employs a participatory and sustainable development approach to implement goat farming as a tool for empowerment and livelihood improvement. The methodology consists of five main phases: community assessment, participant selection, training and capacity-building, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation. The Micro-Livestock and Macro-Impact program demonstrated that small-scale goat farming can serve as a powerful tool for community empowerment, particularly in rural areas with limited income sources. Through training, resource provision, and cooperative support, participants significantly improved their knowledge, increased their household income, and began to experience the benefits of sustainable livestock management. The success of this program highlights the potential of micro-livestock farming to serve as a replicable and scalable model for rural development. It shows that even small agricultural interventions, when paired with training and community engagement, can lead to measurable improvements in food security, income generation, and social empowerment.

Abstract

One of reinforcement bar treatment during delivery transportation is to bend up or buckle in the middle of the bar. This treatment will undermine the strength of the reinforcement bar on buckle region due to its mechanical properties have been changed and no longer within specification. An important point of this study is to knowing the rate of change of mechanical properties, especially strength. Concrete reinforcing steels are bent with nine variations of the bending angle starting from the angle (a) of 20°, 40°, 60°, 80°, 100°, 120°, 140° 160°, and 180°. The data obtained indicated that the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength increases and decreasing the ductility. The increasing percentage of the yield strength is 14% and the tensile strength is 7%. The maximum decreased elongation is 13.42% (a = 180º) from 24.67% (a = 0º) and the reduction of area is decreasing 1.93 %.

Abstract

Kontes Kapal Cepat Tak Berawak Nasional (KKCTBN) held by Pusat Prestasi Nasional (Puspresnas) Kemendikbudristek RI aims to encourage innovation in the design and performance of shipping-maritime technology prototypes. The selection of the right material for the catamaran hull is very important because it affects the strength and weight of the ship. Materials such as fiber reinforced polymer, which uses glass fiber, are often used due to their good mechanical strength. However, natural fibers such as pineapple leaf fiber also have potential as composite reinforcement. The combination of natural and synthetic fibers, such as pineapple leaf fiber and glass fiber, in hybrid composites can improve the mechanical properties of the material. The purpose of this study was to investigate tensile and impact properties of pineapple leaf fiber-glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) hybrid composites. Fiber preparation was carried out by separating pineapple leaf to produce fibers, alkaline treatment using 10% NaOH with a soaking time of 24 hours, and oven drying at 100?C for 60 minutes. Polymer as the matrix used was 50% while the percentage variations of pineapple leaf fiber and glass fiber were sequentially as follows 5%:45%, 10%:40% and 15%:35%. It was found that the tensile strength of the 10% pineapple leaf fiber composite was about 114 MPa and impact strength 49.96 J/mm², density 1.19 g/cm3. The results of this study indicate that the resulting composite can be used as an alternative material in the prototype hull of a catamaran type unmanned speedboat.

Abstract

Alignment is a process that aligns two shaft axes that are not straight to centric (between the driving shaft and the driving shaft axis). Correct alignment is needed so that checks are completed on the correct clutch, so that offset misalignment and angle misalignment do not occur again which results in damage to machine components which is detrimental to the industry. Misalignment is a condition where there is a deviation at the point between two connected axes (two axes are not located on the same axis). If misalignment occurs in the clutch, it will accelerate damage to the clutch, bearings and other components, and cause excessive vibration. The purpose of writing this report is to find out the basic theory of alignment and find out the alignment method using the laser method.

Abstract

The tensile strength and tear resistance properties of pineapple leaf fiber can be improved as a new woven fabric product. This paper aims to experimentally investigate the effect of variations in alkali treatment using sodium hydroxide on the tensile strength of single fibers and tear strength of pineapple leaf fiber woven fabrics.  Alkaline treatment was carried out with variations in sodium hydroxide concentration of 2%, 4%, 8%, 10% and non-alkaline. Alkali treatment on single pineapple leaf fibers affected the tensile strength. The results showed that single pineapple leaf fibers non-alkali treatment had a tensile strength value of 80 N/mm2 and the alkali treatment with a percentage of 8% had the highest tensile strength of 108.57 N/mm2. Alkali treatment on pineapple leaf fibers affects the tear force of woven fabrics made from pineapple leaf fibers. The results showed that non-alkali-treated woven fabrics had a tear force of 47.40 N and the alkali treatment with a percentage of 8% experienced the highest force of 53.98 N. Single pineapple leaf fibers with 8% alkali treatment contained 87.78% cellulose. This shows that the effect of alkali on pineapple leaf fibers can increase the percentage of cellulose, resulting in higher mechanical properties of the fiber. At an alkali percentage of 10%, mechanical properties decreased.

Abstract

The bolts used to retainer and fasten the shaft of the screw conveyor, which functions to transport wood chips to the cooking process in paper manufacturing, have experienced failure. The failure occurred in the form of a perpendicular fracture on the threaded section of the bolt. This damage significantly disrupts wood processing operations, making it important to investigate the causes. The causes of bolt fracture and its short service life were analyzed by studying the effect of thread pitch variations of 2.5 mm and 2 mm. The material tested was Valmet (VME), which is equivalent to AISI 4140. The fatigue test was conducted using a cantilever rotating bending method with the test specimens according to ASTM E466M standards. The results showed that to achieve infinite life, the stress level must be below 95 MPa. Thread pitch has a significant effect: VME bolts with a thread pitch of 2 mm showed a 17% longer endurance than bolts pitch of 2.5 mm.
