Abstract

Cases of domestic violence that have occurred lately have always claimed victims from the women's side, this is due to the patriarchal culture that considers women as inferior and subordinated. This domestic violence case data uses primary data from Instagram comments on the @medantalk account as many as 17 comments. Speech act theory is a sub-field of pragmatics. This field of study is concerned with the ways in which words can be used not only to present information but also to carry out actions. This theory considers three levels or components of speech: locutionary acts (making a meaningful statement, saying something the listener understands), illocutionary acts (saying something with a purpose, such as to inform), and perlocutionary acts (saying something to cause someone to act). Based on these data, the speech act theory analysis tool proposed by John L. Austin (1962) was used. This theory describes 2 types of utterances, namely constative and performative utterances. The forms of domestic violence found were physical, psychological, and physical violence. From these problems victims of domestic violence experience a long process of trauma or psychological recovery and become survivors of domestic violence. Based on the commentary data after being analyzed using Austin's speech act theory, the results of the analysis were found to be two types of responses, both positive and negative, with the meaning of perlocutionary acts varied greatly. Positive responses are in the form of (1) appreciation, (2) support and (3) expectations of government policies and activities, while negative responses contain (1) disappointment, (2) anger, (3) annoyance, (4) questions of lack of trust in government policy in dealing with domestic violence in Indonesia.

Abstract

The study aimed to analyze Darren Hobson’s poetry “Laugh You Nutter” from the view of stylistic analysis. It seen through the aspects of morphological level which about the word forms appeared in the poetry based on the kinds of morphology stylistics such unbound (free morphemes), bound (inflectional and derivational morphemes), base and cranberry morphemes. The poet exhibits a madness experience that could encourage the readers’ feeling. This research used descriptive qualitative approach. This paper is useful in revealing the words style of language and the meaning of the poem. Based on them, it implies that the students could learn English linguistics and literature widely by absorbing the subject about stylistic and poetry.

Abstract

Podcasts have recently been popular among celebrities and community leaders making podcasts or online conversations or interviews/dialogues with various groups that are currently viral. Figures that are considered viral are used as interview subjects so that the things that become viral are thoroughly and openly discussed by the hosts. The data used as an object on Deddy Combuzer's YouTube podcast, namely Habib Jafar, was used as the topic which was used as primary data for 1 hour 25 minutes of dialogue. After transcribing as many as 20 comments. This analysis is entitled Implicature YouTube Cianjur Dibilang Doom Sama Netizen, Habib Jafar Stress: In this study, the author uses a descriptive method which analyzes based on Grace's theory (2010) there are two types of implicatures. The results of the study concluded, the data used in this study are in the form of comments contained in the comments, the data is analyzed by steps (1) reading the comments contained on the YouTube social media, (2) marking each word or sentence that contains an implicature form (3) classifying based on types of implicature (4) conclude the data that has been presented carefully.

Abstract

Politeness in language between parents and children in the family environment is highly prioritized even by using WA social media. The primary data used is the WAG of the Dahlan Family as much as 9 Scrennshot data consisting of 52 WA dialogue dialogues. Meanwhile, secondary data consists of books, journals, and other social media sources. To analyze the data, pragmatic theory was used which was put forward which focused on language politeness by Leech (1983:16). There are six types of politeness principles, namely: a) Tact maxim, b) Generosity maxim, c) Appreciation maxim, d) Simplicity maxim, e) Maxim of agreement, f) Maxim of sympathy. As for analyzing the data is done with the following steps. (1) Reading and viewing the contents of conversations on whatsapp social media, (2) Mark each conversation or sentence that contains forms of politeness, (3) Classify based on the types of politeness and politeness principles, (4) Summarize the data that has been presented carefully. Based on these data, after analyzing the results, there are six types of language politeness, namely: wisdom maxim found 10, generosity maxim found 7, appreciation maxim, modesty maxim, consensus maxim and sympathy maxim.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze what educational values are contained in the folklore of the Origin of Maninjau Lake, Pariman, West Sumatra. The place of research is only focused on texts or fairy tale books so the place of research is in the library to find reference books from research results. As for facilitating the process of conducting research, starting from August 2022 to October 2022. The source of research data used in this research is from secondary data, namely from story books and relevant supporting journals. As for the method of data analysis in this study using a network analysis model, namely by suggesting the analysis process with the three components of the analysis are intertwined and carried out continuously. Based on the analysis of research data in the previous chapter, it can be concluded that in this study educational values were found in the story of the Origin of Lake Maninjau including educational values, religious values, moral values, social values and cultural values. The value of education in the form of religious values is more prevalent in the story of the Origin of Lake Maninjau, around 40%.

Abstract

Reporting on the Kompas TV Youtube channel always provides interesting and up-to-date information so that it becomes a public discussion, one of which is the Ferdy Sambo case which has become a hot topic of conversation since July 2022. This writing aims to find out politeness in language and flouting of maxims on the Kompas TV Youtube channel entitled " Legal Counsel Ask Ferdy Sambo about Elizer's future responsibilities to the CCTV issue!”. The form of speech in this paper is a form of speech that adheres to the politeness principle and is translated into the maxims put forward by Leech in a pragmatic study. Collecting data using observing and note techniques then analyzed. As a result of writing, the Kompas TV Youtube channel adheres to the politeness principles (maxims), namely: the maxim of wisdom, the maxim of generosity, the maxim of appreciation, the maxim of modesty, the maxim of modesty, the maxim of agreement, the maxim of sympathy. Apart from that, there were also violations of the maxims, namely: a) the maxim of wisdom, b) the maxim of modesty, c) the maxim of sympathy.

Abstract

This research discusses about the moral values of the characters in the “Little Mom” movie. The purpose of this research is to identify the types of moral values in the “Little Mom” movie. The research was conducted by applying descriptive qualitative research. The data sources are taken from the entire “Little Mom” movie and the transcript of the “Little Mom” movie which focuses on the use of moral values and types of moral values. The findings of moral value used Linda and Richard Eyre theory this research, in the “Little Mom” movie are; honesty, bravery, peace ability, confidence, self-discipline, pureness, hard work, respect, love and affection, sensitive and unselfishness, friendly, smart, creative, and gratitude. Then, the most dominant type of moral value found in this movie is self-confidence. From this research, the researcher hopes that after reading this research, the reader can understand about moral values.

Abstract

Politeness is basically the speaker's way of communicating so that the speech partner does not feel pressured, cornered, or offended. Communication is a process that occurs in social life. At this time, almost all Indonesian people use social media and the biggest user is YouTube social media. Youtube is a social media that is watched by all people and all ages. Youtube contains various types of content, one of which is Boy William's YouTube channel entitled Boy William's National Examination (UNBW). This series discusses Youtube content for Boy William's National Examination (UNBW) with actresses Ayu Ting-Ting and Anwar. Politeness in language on Youtube social media functions to fence off Youtube users as polite loudspeakers. Conversations during UNBW will be the object of language politeness analysis with a review based on Leech's theory. The politeness theory put forward by Leech (1983: 132) is known as maxims which describe the realization of linguistic politeness, and further elaborates the linguistic politeness strategy into 6 maxims namely: 1) tact maxim, 2) generosity maxim , 3) approbation maxim, 4) modesty maxim, 5) agreement maxim, and 6) sympathy maxim. After reviewing the data, I pointed out that the conversation on UNBW's Youtube content for the Ayu vs Anwar series contains language that is impolite for other people to watch but is still considered polite if this conversation is only for Boy William, Ayu Ting-Ting, and just Anwar.

Abstract

Social media is part of communication media. Instagram is one of the social media that is being loved by many people. Its use is also very diverse, ranging from children to the elderly. Social media, which focuses on photo and video sharing platforms, has skyrocketed in popularity, but it is undeniable that the various impacts that can be caused are due to responses from each netizen as a social media user, for example the emergence of the use of impolite language which causes a violation of the principle of politeness speak. The results of this analysis indicate that there is impoliteness in the language of netizens in the comments column of the @medantalk Instragram account, causing a violation of the principle of politeness in language put forward by Leech. The politeness principle put forward by Leech consists of six maxims, namely the maxim of wisdom, the maxim of generosity, the maxim of appreciation, the maxim of modesty, the maxim of agreement and the maxim of sympathy.

Abstract

Dalam penelitian ini terdapat rumusan masalah yaitu bagaimana pengaruh metode eksperimen yang dilakukan dalam kemampuan menulis teks puisi dengan melihat perbandingan nilai pretest dan posttest. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran model project based learning berbatuan media gambar terhadap kemampuan menulis teks puisi pada Siswa kelas X SMK YWKA Medan Tahun Pembelajaran 2022/2023. Populasi adalah seluruh siswa kelas X X SMK YWKA Medan yang berjumlah 15 siswa dan dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok. Sedangkan sampel diambil sebanyak dua kali penilaian, yaitu pretest post test. Berdasarkan analisis data yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa dalam penelitian “ada pengaruh pembelajaran model project based learning berbatuan media gambar terhadap kemampuan menulis teks puisi”. Pelaksanaan penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan metode eksperimen untuk melihat ada pengaruh perbedaan antara pre test dan post test. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah berupa tes yaitu pretest dan posttest. Sedangkan teknik analisis data one group pretest-posttest design.Berdasarkan hasil analisis uji statistik penelitian ini telah menjawab hipotesis yakni: memperoleh nilai rata-rata perbedaan antara pretest dan posttest yang dilakukan dengan rata-rata pretest 71,67, dengan nilai rata rata posttest sebesar 94,67 dan diperoleh Asym.Sig. (2-tailed) bernilai 0,000, karena nilai 0,000 lebih kecil 0,05 (P<0,05) dari maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa “Hipotesis diterima” artinya ada pembelajaran model project based learning berbatuan media gambar terhadap kemampuan menulis teks puisi pada Siswa kelas X SMK YWKA Medan
