Abstract

Continuous consumption of fossil fuels can cause fuel prices to rise and potentially cause shortages. One alternative renewable energy that can replace fossil fuels is biomass pellets. The use of manual biomass pellet stoves has constraints in controlling the amount of biomass burned, the amount of heat released by the stove, combustion efficiency, safety, and wasteful use of pellets. The purpose of this study was to develop a biomass stove using an automatic control system as a substitute for gas or electric stoves. This stove has the same principle and working method as gas stoves in general, but the pellet fuel is solid. This technology controls the temperature through the integration of temperature sensors, fan blowers, screw feeders, and heat insulators automatically. The results showed that the stove temperature value with the coefficient of determination value from sensor calibration 1 was R2 = 0.9945, sensor calibration 2 obtained the value R2 = 0.9956, the R2 value in sensor calibration 3 was 0.9946, and sensor calibration 4 obtained the value R2 = 0.9927. In the system response test, the device was able to reach a temperature of 300°C in 450 to 780 seconds. Stability testing for setting points 100°C, 200°C, and 300°C were 0.98, 0.82, and 0.53, respectively. The accuracy of the device was 92%. In the execution speed test, it took 2.5 to 4 seconds for the pellets to enter the fuel furnace.

Abstract

Pekon Suka Banjar di Kecamatan Kota Agung Timur, Kabupaten Tanggamus, memiliki potensi hasil laut yang melimpah, salah satunya udang rebon yang diolah menjadi terasi oleh Kelompok Pengolahan dan Pemasar Ikan (POKLAHSAR) Hasil Laut Suka Banjar. Namun, proses produksi yang masih tradisional menyebabkan mutu dan kebersihan produk belum optimal. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan daya saing produk terasi melalui inovasi alat pengering portable serta pembuatan desain label dan kemasan yang menarik. Metode yang digunakan meliputi edukasi, pendampingan, pembuatan alat pengering, pelatihan pengemasan, serta evaluasi kegiatan. Hasilnya, alat pengering portable berhasil dibuat dan digunakan secara efektif, desain label dan kemasan baru diterapkan, serta peserta menunjukkan pemahaman yang baik terhadap pentingnya menjaga mutu produk. Evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan alat pengering dan kemasan yang tepat dinilai sangat penting untuk meningkatkan kualitas, keamanan, dan nilai jual produk terasi. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong kemandirian ekonomi keluarga nelayan melalui produk olahan hasil laut yang lebih higienis dan kompetitif.

Abstract

Kepuasan pasien adalah tingkat kepuasan yang dirasakan oleh pasien setelah menggunakan layanan kesehatan dan membandingkannya dengan harapan minimal yang diinginkan. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui gambaran tingkat kepuasan pasien dalam pelayanan makanan lunak di Rumah Sakit Islam Ar-Rasyid Palembang. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Januari - Mei 2024, dengan sampel sebanyak 38 orang diambil dengan cara accidental sampling. Metode penelitian Deskriptif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dengan hasil data univariat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketepatan waktu penyajian makanan sudah tepat sebesar 100%, responden menyatakan cita rasa makanan sudah baik sebesar 77,12%, sikap pramusaji sudah ramah sebesar 100%, penampilan pramusaji yang rapih 100%, kebersihan alat 100% sudah bersih dan kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan makanan sebesar 97,4%, hal ini membuktikan bahwa pelayanan makanan di Rumah Sakit Islam Ar-Rasyid Palembang sudah baik dan memberikan kepuasan pada pasien.

Abstract

Kabupaten Tanggamus merupakan sentra kedua perkebunan kakao Lampung setelah Kabupaten Pesawaran dimana kakao dibudidayakan di semua kecamatan dengan sentra pertanaman di kecamatan wilayah pesisir Teluk Semangka antara lain Kecamatan Bulok. Sekitar 43% kebun kakao di wilayah ini berumur tua yaitu di atas 15 tahun sehingga perlu direhabilitasi atau ditanam ulang.Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota kelompok tani dalam pembibitan, rehabilitasi dan tanam ulang kebun kakao. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah dan tatap muka, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), dan pendampingan (field coaching) kegiatan praktek dan pembuatan demplot. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Kelompok Tani Fortuna (Desa Pematang Nebak), Kelompok Tani Harapan Jaya (Desa Tanjung Sari) dan Kelompok Tani Sido Rukun (Suka Agung Barat). Dari kegiatan ini disimpulkan bahwa pengabdian masyarakat penerapan agrotekno kakao melalui rehabilitasi dan tanam ulang di Kabupaten Tanggamus dapat berjalan dengan baik dengan metode penyuluhan dan FGD serta metode pendampingan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan tingkat partisipasi yang berkategori baik dengan skor rata-rata 4.  Evaluasi hasil dari penyuluhan dan diskusi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dari skor awal rata-rata 2,66 menjadi 4,16. Hasil evaluasi keterampilan pada kegiatan pendampingan menunjukkan efektivitas tinggi dari skor awal rata-rata 2,85 menjadi 4,37.Kata Kunci: Ceklist, kakao, pendampingan, rehabilitasi, sambung samping, sambung pucuk

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan keamanan produksi nata de coco melalui implementasi Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) di komunitas petani dan produsen lokal. Nata de coco merupakan produk berbasis kelapa yang banyak diminati, namun sering kali kualitasnya bervariasi akibat kurangnya standar produksi. Dengan menerapkan GMP, diharapkan dapat dicapai peningkatan mutu produk yang konsisten dan aman untuk dikonsumsi.Program ini melibatkan pelatihan dan pendampingan kepada produsen nata de coco di Kabupaten Lampung Selatan. Materi pelatihan mencakup aspek kebersihan dan sanitasi, kontrol proses produksi, dokumentasi, serta pengawasan mutu. Evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam hal kebersihan fasilitas, konsistensi produk, dan penerapan praktik produksi yang baik.Hasil implementasi menunjukkan bahwa penerapan GMP berhasil mengurangi risiko kontaminasi dan meningkatkan ketebalan serta tekstur nata de coco. Selain itu, peningkatan sistem dokumentasi dan pelacakan memudahkan pengawasan proses produksi dan penanganan masalah. Kesadaran produsen mengenai pentingnya GMP juga meningkat, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan daya saing produk di pasar.

Abstract

Biodegradable pots made from biomass waste offer an environmentally friendly alternative to replace plastic polybags in plant cultivation. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different raw materials used in making biodegradable pots on the vegetative growth of chili pepper plants. Two treatments were applied: pots made from Kepok banana stem fibers (B1) and pots made from rice straw (B2), each with four replications. The observed parameters included root length, plant height, stem diameter, and number of leaves over 27 days after planting. The results showed that pots made from rice straw produced better growth in all parameters compared to those made from banana stem fibers. The longest root length was found in treatment B2U1 (19 cm), the tallest plants in B2U2 (23.6 cm), and the largest stem diameter also in B2U2 (0.37 cm). These differences are attributed to the physical characteristics of the raw materials: rice straw pots have lower density and a porous structure that facilitates root penetration and growth, while banana stem pots have higher density and fiber mass, resulting in a denser structure that restricts root development. Therefore, it can be concluded that biodegradable pots made from rice straw are more effective in supporting the vegetative growth of chili pepper plants than those made from banana stem fibers. Keywords: Banana Stem, Biodegradable Pot, Densities, Kepok Banana Stem, Rice Straw, Vegetative Phase.

Abstract

Continuous tillage using hand tractors requires high physical strength and involves non-ergonomic body postures. Work involving heavy physical activity, especially with improper working postures can cause musculoskeletal injuries or musculoskeletal disorders/ MSDs). This study aims to identify the level of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) of hand tractor operators in tillage using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) method. The study was conducted in Banjar Agung Village, East Lampung, involving operators aged 30–40 years and operators aged 40–50 years. Data were obtained through interviews to fill out the NBM questionnaire. The results of the NBM analysis showed that tillage activities using two-wheeled tractors by operators aged 30–40 years did not require immediate treatment with a Likert scale of 1 (light risk level) and that by operators aged 40–50 years required immediate treatment with a Likert scale of 2 (high risk level). Keywords:  Hand Tractor, Nordic Body Map (NBM), Musculoskeletal Disorders (Msds), Soil Tillage.

Abstract

This study aims to study the effect of shell color and duck egg size on salting results. The method used in this study is a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatment levels and 3 replications. The first factor is egg size and the second factor is duck egg shell color. The parameters observed were thickness, weight changes, texture, NaCl, and organoleptics such as aroma, color, texture, saltiness and preference. Data from the observation results will be analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the HSN (Honest Significant Difference) test if there is a significant effect. The results showed that the treatment of duck egg shell size had a significant effect (Fhit>Ftab) on the thickness of texture, NaCl, aroma organoleptic and texture of mash. Then the interaction of treatments had a significant effect (Fhit>Ftab) on organoleptic mash. While the color treatment did not have a significant effect (Fhit<Ftab) on all parameters. The conclusion obtained in this study is that the larger the egg size, the higher the thickness, texture, organoleptic aroma and flavor values of salted duck eggs, while the NaCl content is lower.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the peanut drying process by utilizing waste heat from an air conditioner (AC) condenser, using two types of drying systems: horizontal and vertical heat flow. The results showed that the vertical heat flow dryer was more effective, achieving a consistent final moisture content of below 6% (in accordance with SNI 01-3921-1995) within 18 hours, with stable temperatures ranging from 38–40°C and RH below 50%. In contrast, the horizontal heat flow dryer resulted in uneven moisture content (3–14%) with less stable temperature and RH conditions. The drying rate constant (k) was higher in the vertical dryer, indicating a faster rate of water evaporation. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that waste heat from an AC condenser can be utilized as an alternative energy source. The vertical heat flow dryer is more efficient in reducing the moisture content of peanuts to meet storage quality standards.

Abstract

Greenhouses with natural ventilation face challenges in maintaining a stable microclimate, particularly in managing air temperature and humidity, which affect the Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD). This study aimed to monitor and analyze VPD levels inside a naturally ventilated greenhouse using misting (fogging) treatments at different heights, in order to determine the most effective strategy for VPD control. The research was conducted at the Department of Agricultural Engineering, University of Lampung, using three treatments: no fogging (T1F0), fogging at 50 cm (T2F50), and fogging at 100 cm (T3F100) above the plant canopy. Temperature and humidity data were collected using DHT22 sensors and a hygrometer, and used to calculate VPD values. The results showed that the 50 cm fogging treatment (T2F50) effectively reduced VPD to an average of 0.97 kPa, which is within the optimal range (0.5–1.2 kPa) for plant growth. In contrast, the no-fogging treatment produced the highest VPD value (2.17 kPa), which could cause plant stress. Statistical analysis (ANOVA and LSD test) indicated that fogging height significantly influenced VPD values, especially under hot weather conditions. Therefore, fogging at 50 cm is recommended as the most effective treatment for maintaining optimal VPD in naturally ventilated greenhouses.
