Abstract

The a low interest in student learning in learning media courses, so it is necessary to apply project-based learning. To describe student interest in learning media courses through project-based learning, descriptive research is used. The learning interest scale is given to mathematics education students for the 2022–2023 academic year of Alkhairaat University. Furthermore, 4 students who have an interest in learning in the high and medium categories were selected as research subjects through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and structured interviews. Data analysis refers to the Miles & Huberman model and data triangulation techniques to see the validity. The findings describe five indicators of student interest in learning in the high and medium categories. The findings also provide an overview, namely (1) project-based learning can develop and increase student interest in learning media courses, (2) problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and communication skills related to student interest in learning can be improved through project-based learning.

Abstract

Internet-based learning is mostly done because of the industrial revolution and COVID-19 so it has an impact on shifting the students’ character. The systematic literature review research purpose was to analyze and provide an overview related to learning based on character and moral education in the student’s character development. Data related to character and moral education (2020-2022) was collected through the Indonesian National Library and Google Scholar for documentation which will then be reviewed. After the screening, 25 articles were selected for analysis using the Miles & Huberman interactive model and thematic analysis to obtain answers to review questions. These findings provided information about various methodologies and research results related to the student’s character and moral education. The results showed that students’ moral character development was influential and related to learning outcomes, self-character, and performance, as well as contributing to students’ mental health. So that efforts can be made in developing and strengthening student character through internal education strategies, such as material content containing character values, local wisdom-based learning, as well as the use of character-based learning models, methods and media, and external strategies in the form of parental support and society.

Abstract

To describe students' mathematical anxiety in the application of learning mathematics to the independent learning curriculum, a qualitative descriptive study was conducted. To measure the level of students' mathematical anxiety, a math anxiety scale was used which was given to class VIIA students at SMP Alkhairaat 1 Palu. Based on the results of the instrument analysis, 3 students with high, medium and low abilities were selected as research subjects. The three subjects were interviewed to obtain further information needed in this study. To obtain answers to the formulation of the research problem, an interactive Miles & Huberman analysis was carried out and triangulation was carried out to obtain data validity. The findings obtained describe the four indicators of mathematical anxiety in class VIIA SMP Alkhairaat 1 Palu. From these findings the results show that 1) students' different math anxiety affects their way of learning, 2) differences in students' math anxiety levels are influenced by somatic aspects, knowledge aspects, affective aspects, and psychomotor aspects, (3) factors that influence level of math anxiety consists of personal factors and environmental factors

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine students' reading interest in numeracy literacy and what factors cause students' low reading interest. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach, namely by distributing questionnaires to a research sample of 59 students, then conducting interviews with several teachers, staff, and students. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that the average reading interest of students in numeracy literacy was in the overall low category with an average score of 2.4, and based on the location of the school, namely in the city area, the average reading interest of students with a score of 2.4 is in the low category, in the village area the average reading interest of students with a score of 2.3 is in the low category, and in the mountainous area the average reading interest of students with a score of 2.4 is in the low category

Abstract

In order to describe the implementation of PjBL in the Mathematics Learning Media course as a learning assessment material, a classroom action research (PTK) was conducted. The research subjects were 3rd semester students of Mathematics Education at Alkhairaat University Palu in the academic year 2023/2024. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, which were then analysed using the Miles & Huberman model. In addition, data triangulation was also carried out to obtain valid and credible data. The results of this study resulted in 7 (seven) evaluation materials, namely the effectiveness of PjBL, challenges of PjBL implementation, students' reactions, students' skills, students' creativity, use of learning media and recommendations for improvement. With these findings, it is hoped that it can be our concern so that we can correct deficiencies and improve the learning process.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the misconceptions made by Unisa Mathematics Education students about the concept of limit.  The research method used was a descriptive qualitative approach or survey design, where data were collected through comprehension tests, interviews, and observations of 16 students. The results showed that students consider limit as something that is not reached, limit is an estimate, limit is a boundary, and a function will always have a limit at a certain point. Other misconceptions are that students consider limit as a substitution process, even though the substitution process causes the denominator to become 0, students still write 0, and they think that when the function has a limit value, the function is defined at a certain point and must be continuous. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more effective learning strategies to overcome misconception in Mathematics Education students and improve their understanding of calculus concepts, especially function limit.       Keywords: limit concept, limits of functions, misconceptions.

Abstract

A deep understanding of prime numbers remains a significant challenge, particularly for pre-service mathematics teachers responsible for conveying this essential knowledge to their students. Prime numbers have an essential role in mathematics, including in factorization, proof, and cryptography. Therefore, this study aims to describe and analyze the representational abilities of prospective mathematics teacher students at Alkhairaat University, regarding the prime numbers in Number Theory. This study uses a descriptive exploratory method with a mixed-methods approach based on a sequential explanatory design. Data collection was carried out through diagnostic tests, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, which were then analyzed using descriptive statistics for quantitative data and the Miles & Huberman model for qualitative data. Triangulation of methods and time was used to ensure the validity of the data. The findings showed that out of 17 students, only 29.41% were able to provide accurate verbal representations related to the prime and composite numbers, and only 5.88% were able to link the two meaningfully. In addition, while students were able to mention definitions, most of them had difficulties applying the prime numbers in the abstract problem context, including examples in algebraic notation. This study concludes that there is still a significant gap in the representation ability of prime number concepts of pre-service mathematics teachers. The implications emphasize the need for integrating multidimensional representation learning strategies into the mathematics education curriculum so that prospective teachers are better prepared to teach prime numbers in a comprehensive and meaningful way.    Keywords: representation, prime numbers, number theory, pre-service mathematics teachers.

Abstract

This research aims to produce the topic of space geometry, specifically Prisms, for eighth-grade on middle school students (SMP/MTs) while meeting the criteria of validity, effectiveness, and practicality. The research method used is the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the Plomp model, which includes several stages, namely preliminary investigation, design, development or construction, as well as testing, evaluation, and revision. Based on expert validation, the developed worksheet obtained an average score of 3.81, which falls into the valid category. The results of the final learning test show a success rate of 81.10%, which falls into the very effective category. Meanwhile, the analysis of the teacher response questionnaire shows a practicality level of 93.05% with a very practical category. The results of the student response questionnaire also showed a practicality level of 91.23% with a very practical category. Thus, it is proven to be valid, effective, and practical, to be used in the learning process
