Abstract

Work engagement telah menjadi topik hangat dalam beberapa tahun terakhir di perusahaan-perusahaan konsultasi dan dalam dunia bisnis (Saks, 2006). Penting bagi perusahaan  untuk memperhatikan  engagement para karyawannya  karena  sangat  berkaitan  erat  dengan  outcome  bisnis,   seperti:  produktivitas,   keuntungan,  loyalitas  dan  kenyamanan  pelanggan (Markos & Sandhya, 2010). PT. X merupakan usaha kecil menengah (UKM) yang sedang berkembang. Permasalahan yang dihadapi PT. X berkaitan adalah kurang optimalnya kinerja para karyawan. Penting bagi perusahaan tersebut untuk meningkatkan work engagement karyawan terutama untuk memastikan keberlangsungan usaha dan membuat karyawan memiliki kinerja yang optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat efektifitas program management by objectives (MBO) pada tingkat work engagement karyawan di PT. X. Program MBO merupakan salah satu metode penetapan tujuan dengan melibatkan karyawan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain penelitian the before and after study. Sebanyak 12 responden dari perusahaan Usaha Kecil Menengah yang bergerak di bidang beverage terlibat dalam Program MBO yang dilakukan selama 2 bulan. Pengukuran work engagement menggunakan skala UWES (Utrecht Work Engagement Scale) yang dikembangkan oleh Schaufeli dan Bakker (2004). Dengan menggunakan analisis data wilcoxon ditemukan perbedaan yang signifikan sebelum dan sesudah dilakukannnya program MBO dengan nilai Z= -2.135  dan signifikansi  0,03 (P<0,05). Sementara sumbangan efektif program MBO terhadap peningkatan work engagement karyawan PT. X adalah 31,33%.  Kata Kunci : management by objectives, work engagementWork engagement has become a hot topic in recent years in consulting firms and in the business world (Saks, 2006). It is important for companies to pay attention to the engagement of its employees because it is closely linked to business outcomes, such as: productivity, profitability, loyalty and customer convenience (Markos & Sandhya, 2010). PT. X is the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are being developed. Problems faced by PT. X relates is less than optimal performance of employees. It is important for these companies to increase employee engagement work is mainly to ensure business continuity and to make employees have optimal performance. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of program management by objectives (MBO) at the level of work engagement of employees at PT. X. MBO program is one method of goal setting by involving employees. This research used experimental methods to study the design of the before and after study. A total of 12 respondents from companies small and medium enterprises engaged in the beverage involved in the MBO program conducted over two months. Measurement of work engagement using a scale Uwes (Utrecht Work Engagement Scale) developed by Schaufeli and Bakker (2004). By using the Wilcoxon data analysis found a significant difference before and after the perpetration of the MBO program to the value of Z = -2,135 and significance of 0.03 (P <0.05). While MBO program effective contribution to the improvement of work engagement of employees of PT. X is 31.33%.Keywords: management by objectives, work engagement

Abstract

Two business models differ significantly between an established company and a startup in the industrial world. There are notable distinctions between the two business models in several areas that, upon closer examination, can offer entrepreneurs, practitioners, researchers, and the government guidance in devising the most appropriate business model approach. The subsequent goal of this research is to conduct a more thorough analysis of the organizational behavior variations between startups and larger businesses. Because numerous research sources have been completed but have yet to be more thoroughly consolidated, this study uses a literature review approach to address the research issues posed. This approach is also capable of identifying variations from the given context. According to the study, established businesses and startups differ in three ways. The study's findings, to be more precise, revealed variations in the two business models' definitions and life cycles. Second, the social relations system and structure derived from these two company models differ. Finally, these two categories of businesses must deal with varying degrees of uncertainty in the workplace. This research suggests that by examining the distinctions between large and small companies which are just starting, business actors can benefit from this research and use it as a guide to improve organizational performance.

Abstract

People, in general, would have a career preference to become an employee in a big and established company. This career preference is natural, considering many benefits obtained when a person becomes an employee. However, this does not apply to some individuals who choose freelancers. Even though the stigma of being a freelancer exists, it was not an obstacle for people who choose a freelancer in choosing this career. This study's purpose was to understand the reason and the meaning of the career choices of freelancers. This research employed a qualitative approach with the phenomenological method. The data were collected by interviewing six freelancers that have been full-time freelancers for at least two years in the information technology field. The result showed that freedom, flexibility, learning opportunity, financial security, family time, progressive career, and life fulfillment motivate individuals to become full-time freelancers. The essence of the motivational dynamics of a freelance career was to achieve life fulfillment.

Abstract

The pandemic of COVID-19 has influenced business in general. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, most companies or organizations have been implementing work from home (WFH). For working mothers who have children, this WFH policy creates a more stressful situation since they simultaneously have to deal with work and family in the same place. This study investigated the role of work-life balance and perceived organizational support in the level of burnout tendency among working mothers. Two hundred thirty-seven working mothers who work from home participated in this study. Questionnaires were distributed to the working mothers to measure work-life balance, perceived organizational support, and burnout tendency. Multiple linear regression was used to test the hypothesis. The results show work-life balance and perceived organizational support simultaneously predict burnout tendency. However, perceived organization support, especially a concern for employee welfare, contributes more to reducing burnout.  Therefore, human resource management may develop a policy to reduce burnout among women employees by concerning employee welfare in terms of compensation and benefit and creating a conducive working environment

Abstract

A quarter-life crisis during emerging adulthood is triggered by various worries in the future regarding careers, romantic, and social relationships. This study aims to test the role of anchor personality dimensions in predicting a quarter-life crisis in emerging adulthood. The participants of this study were 279 people in the 18-25 year age group. This study was conducted with the quantitative approach using a survey method through social media. The instruments used were the Quarter Life Crisis Scale and Anchor Personality Inventory. The results of the analysis using the multiple linear regression method showed that anchor virtues have a significant negative relationship in predicting quarter-life crises. However, anchor materials and others show a significant positive relationship in predicting the quarter-life crisis. The implications of this research empirically show the importance of emerging adulthood to be oriented towards virtues to prevent quarter-life crisis and achieve optimal psychological functioning.

Abstract

The metaverse is a 3-dimensional (3D) digital ecosystem that allows individuals to conduct communication and social interactions, financial transactions, and various other interactions using digital technology. Entering this metaverse era, many new behaviors are formed and old cultures are abandoned. This change in the way humans live to fulfill their various needs has made the dynamics of social life change from direct real interaction to digital. This of course provides convenience as well as challenges in human civilization. This research discusses the challenges and opportunities of the metaverse for Indonesian society. The research method used is a literature study by collecting library data, reading and recording, and managing research materials with the literature design used is a narrative review. The results showed that the emergence of the metaverse in the last two decades has changed human behavior, including the rise of online learning in the education sector, the disappearance of various types of manual work and replaced with new digital-based jobs, massive digital-based financial transaction activities. The toughest challenge in this era is the decline in human critical thinking power, the collapse of moral nobility and the shift in social ethics in community life. The metaverse era is an inevitable condition, and requires careful preparation by society to deal with it. In addition to the demands of the stockholder's ability to provide the necessary equipment, human resources must also be equipped with qualified abilities to control various sophisticated equipment in this era. On the other hand, the strengthening of noble values both from Religion, Culture, and Nationality should be strengthened so that humans are not trapped in a culture of sensation known as sensing culture.

Abstract

Tujuan peneIitian ini adaIah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara Iingkungan teman sebaya dan kuaIitas tidur dengan prestasi akademik mahasiswa S-1 PsikoIogi angkatan 2019 Universitas Ahmad DahIan Yogyakarta. SampeI peneIitian ini adaIah mahasiswa S-1 PsikoIogi angkatan 2019 Universitas Ahmad DahIan Yogyakarta. JumIah pupuIasi 320 dengan sampeI yang diambiI pada peneIitian ini sebanyak 147 mahasiswa. PeneIitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan aIat ukur berupa skaIa Iingkungan teman sebaya, skaIa kuaIitas tidur dan skaIa prestasi akademik. AnaIisis data peneIitian ini menggunakan teknik anaIisis regresi berganda dengan bantuan SPSS versi 25. Berdasarkan hasiI anaIisis data antara Iingkungan teman sebaya dengan prestasi akademik mendapat niIai koefisien R= 0,499 dan P= 0,000 (p<0,05). Dengan demikian hipotesis peneIitian diterima, artinya terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara Iingkungan teman sebaya dan kuaIitas tidur dengan prestasi akademik mahasiswa S-1 PsikoIogi angkatan 2019 Universitas Ahmad DahIan Yogyakarta. Dari hasiI anaIisis ini diperoIeh bahwa Iingkungan teman sebaya dan kuaIitas tidur memberikan kontribusi sebesar 24,9% terhadap prestasi akademik dan sisanya 75,1% dipengaruhi oIeh faktor Iain diIuar peneIitian ini. Berdasarkan hasiI peneIitian ini dapat disimpuIkan bahwa semakin tinggi Iingkungan sosiaI teman sebaya dan kuaIitas tidur, maka semakin tinggi puIa prestasi akademik mahasiswa. SebaIiknya, semakin rendah Iingkungan teman sebaya dan kuaIitas tidur, maka semakin rendah puIa pretasi akademik mahasiswa.

Abstract

Leadership is crucial element in the pursuit of organizational objectives. The examination of the characteristics of a proficient leader remains a compelling area of research, given its perceived capability to address diverse challenges, particularly those related to the organizational systems and human resources. This research used a convergent parallel mix-method to reveal type and profile of organizational management style that are effectively applied in business organizations in Indonesia today. Quantitative results revealed that the majority of managers in Indonesia apply a basic leadership separation (separated) style because of the lack of task orientation and relationships, which when affective produce a managerial style bereaucrate and when ineffective apply a deserter style. Temporary results qualitatively showed that at least four dimensions assessed must be owned by one person's leader: capacity to think strategically (strategic thinking), skilled management of tasks (task management), professional, and capable manage people or teams (people management). Integration results found convergent data because there are suitability dimensions between quantitative data and qualitative data related to management tasks and human management. Furthermore, it also obtained the results of the expansion from qualitative data was the emergence of the theme of strategic and professional thinking as a dimension that must be possessed by an effective leader in business organizations. Implications obtained based on the integration of quantitative and qualitative data analysis are perceptions that the profile ideal and effective leader can differ from what an individual applies inside the organization. As a result, even if the manager recognizes what capacities a leader should have, in practice, he may apply different styles and approaches.

Abstract

Some of the problems that are frequently found in villages are unemployment and urbanization among rural youth. This study aimed to (1) Identify the factors that cause unemployment and urbanization among the youth in Tamansari Village, Karangmoncol Subdistrict, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java Province, (2) Analyze the causes of unemployment and urbanization among the youth in Tamansari Village, Karangmoncol Subdistrict, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java Province. This was a qualitative descriptive study. The informants in this study were the young people in Tamansari Village, and the Head of Tamansari Village. The data were collected through interview, observation, documentation, and online data search techniques. The analysis in this study was carried out using descriptive qualitative analysis and comparative analysis. The results of the study showed that (1) There are some factors that cause unemployment and urbanization among the youth in Tamansari Village, Karangmoncol Subdistrict, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java Province, (2) Several causes of unemployment and urbanization among the youth in Tamansari Village, Karangmoncol Subdistrict, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java Province were revealed.
