Abstract

Air as an environmental component needs to be maintained and improved in quality so that it provides the supporting capacity for living creatures to live optimally. A hospital is a health service institution that provides comprehensive individual health, providing inpatient, outpatient and emergency services. Transmission of nosocomial infections in hospitals occurs through various means, one of which is air. Physical environmental conditions such as humidity, lighting and temperature influence the growth and development of disease-causing germs such as viruses and bacteria which can cause health problems for visitors, patients and health workers in hospitals. This research was descriptive in nature with laboratory examinations, carried out at TK III Reksodiwiryo Hospital, Padang City. The population in this study was the air of the inpatient room at TK III Reksodiwiryo Hospital, Padang City. The research sample was taken based on several researchers' considerations. The samples in this study were the children's inpatient room, the Bung Hatta inpatient room, the ICU room and the OK room. Physical air quality checks consist of temperature, humidity and lighting. The results of checking the temperature of the inpatient room when compared with PMK No. 2 of 2023 concerning Implementing Regulations of Government Regulation Number 66 of 2014 concerning Environmental Health exceed the standards that have been set. Advice that can be given to hospitals is to pay attention to factors that can influence air quality both physically and biologically so that air pollution in hospitals can be overcome

Abstract

Sanitation problems in Indonesia still involve deviant social behavior, namely defecation habits anywhere. According to World Health Organization, around 2.5 billion people worldwide do not have access to proper sanitation facilities. Indonesia itself is ranked second after India, with a high number of people still defecating in the open; this is due to people's habits, which are very difficult to change because they have been inherited. The use of surface water sources, namely river water, with physical water quality that does not meet requirements, the absence of facilities for wastewater disposal, and the absence of household waste management can cause health hazards to the environment. The research aims to know the risky health environment in the sub-district Tabing Banda Gadang, Padang City. Study method This Quantitative nature descriptive analytic with approach Studies Evaluation Risk Health Environment is a participatory study to understand the condition of sanitation and hygiene facilities and community behaviors at the household scale, the results of data processing and analysis that can describe the determination of risk areas from each region to the village/sub-district level. The results of the study found that the risk areas were Water Sources with results of Not enough risk (value 28), Domestic Wastewater with Medium risk (value 68), Medium Risk Waste (value 51), high risk of waterlogging (value 58) and Clean and Healthy Living Behavior is not enough risky (value 32) it can be concluded that the sanitation risk index of Tabing Banda Gadang Village is included in the Current Risk with a value of 237. Tabing Banda Gadang Village is at high risk of waterlogging, so it is recommended that the Village facilitate the construction of drainage by coordinating with the Department of Housing and Public Works to resolve the waterlogging problem.

Abstract

Wood handicraft workers are informal sector workers who belong to the "underserved working population" and have not received maximum health services in an effort to minimize occupational diseases. The purpose of this study was to analyze the risk of dust exposure to woodworking workers at CV. X Padang City in 2020. This research is descriptive in nature by analyzing the risk of dust exposure of woodworking workers. The population is all workers in the production section (cutting/manufacturing and sanding and painting) totaling 18 people. The instruments in this study were the LVAS, thermohygrometer, anemometer, scales and checklists to observe activity patterns. Data analysis uses stages in environmental risk analysis. Respondents smoked while working is 62.5% and 66.7% use personal protective equipment. All pollutants are below the quality standard, while the results of the RQ (life time) value for all exposure materials are > 1 which means that the agent risk exposure is not safe after the employee has worked for 30 years. Management needs to carry out risk management such as reducing the concentration, time of exposure, and frequency of exposure to a safe limit by managing risk through technological approaches, socio-economic approaches, and institutional approaches

Abstract

In the working area of the Andalas Health Center, ARI (Acute Respiratory Infection) ranked first among the ten most common diseases. As of December 2022, 80.43% of houses in this area did not meet health standards. This study aimed to identify factors associated with the incidence of ARI in toddlers in the Andalas Health Center area in 2023. This was an analytical survey using a cross-sectional approach, conducted from March to June 2023. Data were collected through interviews and home environment assessments. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods with the Chi-square test. Results showed that 62.8% of toddlers experienced ARI. Among the assessed homes, 60% had inadequate ventilation, 60% had poor natural lighting, 57.1% had improper room temperature, 68.6% had unsuitable humidity levels, and 54.3% had high occupancy density. Bivariate analysis revealed significant associations between natural lighting (p=0.0001; PR=6.667), room temperature (p=0.0001; PR=4.750), and humidity (p=0.0001; PR=9.625) with ARI incidence. However, no significant relationship was found with ventilation (p=0.353) and occupancy density (p=0.073). It is recommended that sanitarians at the Andalas Health Center increase healthy home education and implement preventive measures, including physical home improvements. Cross-sector collaboration is encouraged to support home renovation programs for low-income families, to create a healthy home environment.
