Abstract

Nowadays, the Internet is undoubtedly indispensable and has become a part in almost everyone’s life and there are 175.4 million internet users in Indonesia based on data from survey conducted by an organization which called We Are Social in 2020 (Krishnapatria, 2020). Therefore, one of the utilizations of the internet is the development of online learning and one of massive implementation of online learning occurred during pandemic. Thus, This research was aimed to reveal students’ perception towards English online learning in their school during pandemic time. This research applied survey research design and the data that have been collected then analyzed by applying Descriptive Statistics in the form of percentage and nonparametric Wilcoxon signed rank. It found out that students’ perception towards English online learning tend to be not better compared with face-to-face learning.

Abstract

This research was aimed at improving the eighth-grade students’ reading achievement and their participation during teaching-learning process using the Question-Answer Relationship (QAR) Strategy. This research applied Classroom Action Research (CAR) design with grade eight students of secondary school at junior high school as the research participants. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to know the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension achievement and the students’ participation after being taught reading using QAR strategy. This research was conducted in 1 cycle consisted of five meetings. The result of this research showed that the use of QAR Strategy could improve the students’ reading comprehension achievement and the students’ participation during the teaching and learning of reading.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to improve the junior high school students' reading comprehension by using Number Head Together technique at Patsan Witaya Mulinti School. The design of this research was Classroom Action Research. Patan Wittaya foundation school was chosen purposively as the research area because the students on this school still had difficulties in learning reading comprehension. Based on the observation, the findings showed that the students who could fulfil the indicators on the observation checklist of the active therefore participation increased from 25 (78.12 %) students in Meeting 1 to 26 (84.37%) students in Meeting 2 because some students were having difficulties in understanding the reading text. Meanwhile, the reading comprehension test results in Cycle 1 fulfilled the research’s target score. Based on the findings, it can be seen that students’ average score in the reading comprehension was 83.96. After conducting the actions, the results of this current study indicated that Numbered Heads Together technique is an effective technique to improve the students’ active participation and reading comprehension achievement. It could be concluded that the use of the number heads technique could improve the junior high school students' reading comprehension.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate how religious tolerance portrayed in ELT textbook for senior high school students for grade 10. The present study applied critical discourse analysis (CDA), framed in fairclough’s 3D model approaches in analyzing visual and textual artifact materials that represents the religious tolerance in the textbook. The findings showed that religious tolerance has very rare found in the textbook, which is represented 6 times through different images and oral text. The visual and textual data of religious tolerance contained in each textbook unit have been identified using the categories of fairness (F), respect (R1), and reasonableness (R2). The findings showed that there is still a lack of visual and verbal representation of religious tolerance in the textbook.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the role of the Pinggir Sawah Literacy House in the Sempu Banyuwangi area in terms of forming environmental awareness. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The technique used was in-depth interviews by digging up information from data sources from the Pinggir Sawah administrators and the community who came to the place. The research results illustrate that the role of the Pinggir Sawah literacy house is able to raise awareness of love for the environment. Some activities include utilizing waste, planting plants using organic media. The role of the Pinggir Sawah literacy house is to try to create environmental awareness by reducing waste and utilizing it to create a clean and healthy environment. Activities carried out include outreach and training in waste utilization skills

Abstract

Environmental literacy is a form of public awareness of caring for the environment. This not only discusses environmental issues, but also sets the framework for environmental literacy. Environmental literacy is divided into several parts, namely knowledge, awareness, and ethics. This research is included in a qualitative approach. The research location is in the Sempu Banyuwangi area. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis uses the theory of Miles and Huberman namely reduction, presentation, and verification or conclusion. The results of the study as a whole the level of understanding of the environmental literacy of the Sempu community is quite good regarding awareness of the surrounding environment, knowledge, attitudes and behavior. The role of students in this case acts as a companion and motivator in efforts to increase environmental literacy with training activities. Apart from that, it still shows the need for a companion role in providing environmental literacy to the Sempu community to increase knowledge and awareness about the environment

Abstract

Teaching has been recognized as one of stressful occupations. In Indonesia, EFL teachers also perceive stress at work due to abundant responsibilities that they carry out. The use of coping strategies is essential to help them deal with stress at work. Therefore, this study aims to explore EFL teachers' experiences, especially the sources of their stress, the coping strategies used by EFL teachers, and the advantages and challenges of using those coping strategies. Using a narrative-based approach to explore their experiences, the findings show that there were 8 sources of EFL teacher’s stress at work. The coping strategies varied from five areas of: work demands, boredom, personal conflict, interpersonal conflict, and emotion. Those coping strategies were helpful to lessen the feeling of stress and resolve teachers’ problems at work. Despite those advantages, the teachers also mentioned that lack of me-time can be a challenge for the optimum use of the coping strategies. Meanwhile, social support from family and friends can contribute to help the teachers deal with their stress at work.

Abstract

Usaha peternakan domba merupakan salah satu sektor usaha peternakan yang memiliki potensi besar untuk dikembangkan di masa yang akan datang. Salah satu usaha ternak domba yang ada di Kecamatan Bangsalsari yaitu Najah Farm. Usaha ini memiliki permasalahan dalam kegiatan operasionalnya. Usaha peternakan domba merupakan salah satu sektor usaha peternakan yang memiliki potensi besar untuk dikembangkan di masa yang akan datang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui bagaimana strategi pengembangan yang dapat dilakukan oleh Najah Farm. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Responden dalam penelitian ini yakni pengelola peternakan domba Najah Farm di Kecamatan Bangsalsari Kabupaten Jember. Metode yang digunakan adalah Business Model Canvas (BMC). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Najah Farm bermitra dengan petani dan peternak. Kemudian memiliki aktivitas kunci berupa operasional, pemasaran dan manajemen keuangan. Nilai bisnis yang ditawarkan sistem kandang terkoleksi, tabungan qurban, pemasok domba, penjualan pupuk. Najah Farm menjalin hubungan dengan pelanggan melalui pemberian pelayanan terbaik dan menyediakan fasilitas tabungan qurban. Pelanggan Najah farm yaitu distributor daging domba, lembaga aqiqah, instansi, Masyarakat umum, petani dan rumah makan. Sumber daya yang dimiliki oleh Najah farm yaitu sumber daya manusia yang merupakan para petani, serta sumber daya alam yang berupa lingkungan alam. Biaya yang diperlukan untuk mengelola Najah Farm meliputi biaya pengadaan kandang, biaya pengadaan kambing, pakan, kendaraan, dan mesin pendukung. Sumber pendapatan Najah Farm berasal dari penjualan produk.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how English teachers can effectively motivate low-achieving students through various strategies identified during classroom observations. The research highlights that teachers establish foundational motivational conditions by starting lessons enthusiastically and fostering personal connections with students, which encourages them to try harder and believe in their abilities. Additionally, by emphasizing the importance of learning English and offering bonus scores, teachers generate initial motivation that can improve low-achieving students' grades. To maintain this motivation, teachers provide opportunities for students to present their learning outcomes, enhancing their engagement and confidence. Furthermore, helping low-achieving students improve their pronunciation encourages positive self-evaluation, making them feel valued and motivated to continue learning. The findings suggest that it is essential for teachers to implement effective motivational strategies in order to facilitate better understanding and learning among their students. Therefore, an English teacher must possess both effective strategies and enthusiasm to motivate students and ensure their comprehension of the lesson.
