Abstract

The process of interaction in different cultural happening in society. In the process there is an understanding on the role of verbal communication and nonverbal communication, which is based on the belief that people from different cultures can adjust to accommodate other cultures. In the communication accommodation, there is a strategy used to align the communication process is being carried out, such a strategy is the convergence, divergence, and overaccommodation label. This study aims to determine the forms of accommodation such as strategy in the strategy of convergence, divergence and overaccommodation label to the communications made by the Vietnam Ethnic students and the people in Pekanbaru.To uncover these issues thoroughly and deeply, in this study is used descriptive qualitative method possible and the use of symbolic interaction approach. Data collection technique used observation, interview, and documentation. To confirm the validity of the data is done through the extension of participation and triangulation data. Informants in this study were 8 determined by purposive sampling.The results of this study indicate that the forms of convergence strategies undertaken by Vietnam Ethnic students and the people in Pekanbaru is to use Bahasain good and right way, adjust the speed and volume of sound, adjust clothing used when communicating. Forms divergence strategy is to use a different language tothe communicator, creating body movements indicate disinterest, dominating the volume and speed of speech respectively, making distance limitations. Then cause overaccommodation label is due to misunderstanding the intent to use the language of the speaker and also because excessive body movement. Objectives to be obtained in order to create balanced communication between Vietnam Ethnic students and the people in Pekanbaru.Keywords: Accommodation Communications, Student, Ethnic, Pekanbaru

Abstract

The tradition of wages is one of the cultural tondi contained in Mandailing Batak tribe. In tardisi tondi wages, there is a symbolic aspects that have a specific meaning that is represented by a tool or offerings and movements found in the tradition of wages Tondi. The purpose of this study was to determine the meaning of the symbolic situation, meaning the product of social interaction, and interpretation of the meaning of the tradition of wages tondi in Pekanbaru.This study uses a qualitative research approach symbolic interaction. The informants were 8 persons, namely 3 bamou (shamans), using techniques purpusive, and two members of the public who have tribes Pekanbaru city Batak Mandailing and three patients using the technique accidental. Data collected through observation, interview, and documentation.These results indicate that the meaning of the symbolic tradition of wage tondi situation in Pekanbaru city consists of physical objects and object physical sosial .Objek includes offerings or pangupah consisting of one chicken meaningful as expectations, the eggs meaningful wholeness, the tail head curry goat meaningful as a delicacy, liver meaningful as patience, vegetables and serves as the natural balance and the last sticky rice yellow bermakana as filfasat life, social objects include movement bamou in turnover tray itself him above the patient's head and serves as the life of absolute and mantras and chanting spoken by bamou on wages tradition -upah tondi who also have the specific meaning in every part like the implicit hope that people who are sick are given healing, social situations contained in wages tradition -upah tondi also have the special meaning that is meaningful togetherness.Prodak meaning of social interaction TradisiUpah- Wages tondi includes meanings of the bamou or traditional leaders where these traditions have the value of cultural, economic and spiritual while in terms of patients to make sense of this tradition have the value of culture, kepercayaa, spiritual and social values and of the general public have tribes tribes Batak Mandailing interpret this tradition has religious values, culture, and sosial.Makna interpretation TradisiUpah- tondi Wages include action open and closed action covered measures include internal and external motivations and feelings of patients and bamou. Abstract

Based on the data obtained from Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperative and SMEs, there was a lot of MSMEs operating in Meranti Islands with different types of business listed on which managed natural resources in Meranti Island. That necessary for specific guidance in order to MSMEs is able to develop and survive in current global competition. The purpose of the research is to find out communication strategy in determining the audiences, the selection of media, deliver of message, and determine the communicator by Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperative and SMEs in Meranti Islands.The method used is qualitative description narrated descriptively. The informan in this research are Head of Department industry, Trade, Cooperative and SMEs, Head of Cooperative and SMEs, Head of Developments of MSMEs, Owners of coffee business, Owners of Sago business, and owner of weaving business. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation.The result showed that communication strategy in MSMEs development regard to four factors that is the audience, media, message, and communicator. Strategy in determining the audience is to perform data collection of MSMEs then selected accordance the criteria to be include in coacing thedevelopment program. Media used are, media of group, printed media, and online media to communicate the information and knowledge to business owners. Then strategy in determining the communicator is the people who have knowledge of SMEs and selected according to the experienced and expertised.Keywords : Development, MSMEs, Communication Strategy

Abstract

Siak Regency is one of the districts with its capital, Siak Sri Indrapura, in Riau Province. Siak Regency is a developing area and is known for its strong Malay culture, Siak has great potential in improving the tourism sector in its area. This is one of the great assets for the siak government to develop existing tourism in Siak namely through the Siak Brand The Truly Malay which has been echoed by the Siak Regency Tourism Service and even the Truly Malay Tagline has officially become the copyright of Siak Regency. The tagline has been the 'soul' in the development of culture and tourism in the country of the Palace. Therefore the purpose of this research is to find out the process of communication of Malay Culture Tourism of Siak Regency Tourism Office in Forming the Trak Malay Siak Destination Brand.This study used qualitative research methods. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects were 8 people, using a purposive technique chosen from the Siak Regency Tourism Office amounting to 3 people and using accidental techniques from the community or visitors totaling 5 people. Data collection is done through interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques by reducing data, collecting data, presenting data, drawing conclusions and evaluations using the technique of checking the validity of the data, namely the extension of participation and triangulation.The results of this study indicate that the Source or source in forming the Truly Malay Siak Destination Brand is the Tourism Office who has the ability to communicate and knowledge in forming the Truly Malay Siak Destination Brand is certainly owned by people who really work to carry out tourism development Siak, supported by the local government of Siak Regency and the siak community itself. The message or message used is persuasive and informative which is very interesting. Use of channels or media through, online media, social media and print media such as banner newspapers and billboards. Receivers in this case are domestic and foreign tourists.

Abstract

Indonesian slogan namely Bhineka Tunggal Ika (Different But Still One). Humans are required to be able to interact with other humans, even though among them have cultural differences. Like the Malay tribe and the Nias tribe in Pantai Raja Village, Perhentian Raja District, Kampar Regency. At first the Nias tribe had difficulty in using Indonesian and living in groups so that it was difficult to interact with the Malay tribe, now the Nias tribe was able to accommodate the culture of the interlocutors. Each communication accommodation process has three strategies used, namely the strategy of convergence, divergence and excessive accommodation. This study aims to determine the strategy of excessive convergence, divergence and accommodation carried out by the Malay tribe and Nias tribe in Pantai Raja Village, Perhentian Raja District, Kampar Regency. This study uses a qualitative method. Research location in Pantai Raja Village, Perhentian Raja District, Kampar Regency. The subjects of this study were Malay tribes and Nias tribes with 10 people selected purposively. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique of this study uses the Huberman and Miles Interactive analysis model. The results of this study indicate that the convergence strategy carried out by ethnic Malay and Nias tribes in Pantai Raja Village is to adopt the language of the interlocutor, make body movements that indicate attraction, adjust speech and not limit the distance of the interlocutor, use jewelry and clothing that do not reflect differences with his interlocutor. The divergence strategy that is carried out is that there is no attempt to use the language of the interlocutor, do not make gestures that show interest when communicating, use their own culture of speech, limit distance and ignore the distance needs of their interlocutors, use jewelry and perfumes to highlight differences to the interlocutor. The cause of excessive accommodation labeling is too much in telling the experience and knowledge of the speaker and errors in the use of the language of the interlocutor. Abstract

The services carried out by Jasa Raharja which are communicated by some people, they can be used in the community of Pekanbaru City. The purpose of this study was to determine the management of public relations: planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling Jasa Raharja Riau Branch, to find out what media was done to determine the inhibiting factors and supporting factors in improving the positive image for the people of Pekanbaru City.The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method by setting 4 (four) research subjects as informants through purposive techniques and the people who are taking care of claims. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study used the interactive data model of Miles and Huberman. Checking data uses the technique of extending participation and triangulation.The results of this study indicate that the management used by Jasa Raharja Public Relations in improving the image was successful. Even though they still get complaints from some people, they understand and the community thinks the image of Jasa Raharja is good. Some of the things that need to be considered by the Riau Jasa Raharja Public Relations in conducting management in terms of planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling have gone well even though there are few obstacles in the organizing and staffing section because of the limited available HR. Jasa Raharja Riau branch uses a variety of media in improving its corporate image, the media used are print media, electronic media, social media and websites as well as outdoor media. Jasa Raharja Public Relations of Riau Branch has inhibiting factors and supporters carry out public relations activities in order to improve the image of the people of Pekanbaru City. The inhibiting factor is limited human resources, especially the absence of human resources who do have a public education background. The supporting factors are the fulfillment of adequate facilities and infrastructure for public relations in carrying out activities such as DSLR cameras, computers equipped with the internet, and official vehicles that help mobility public relations in activities.Keyword : Management, Public Relations, Positive Image

Abstract

The intercultural marriages of the Malays and Minang tribes in the city of Pekanbaru which are the most common problems in intercultural marriages are personal or individual backgrounds, different ethnic marriage partners with uncomfortable situations often arise, if someone is very dependent on stereotypes rather than dependent in perception which is directly in nature and becomes a problem in choosing prospective child pairs with different tribes. This study aims to determine the motives, meanings and communication experiences that occur in intercultural marriages of the Minang tribes in Pekanbaru City.This study uses qualitative research methods with a phenomenological approach. The research subjects were 3 husband and wife couples who were selected using the snowball technique. Data collection is done through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. To perform data validity, the author uses the technique of extending participation and triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the motive in choosing intercultural marriages of the Malay tribes of Minang in Pekanbaru, namely the motive of the past (because of the motive) is the religion and character of the couple, while the motive comes (in order to motive) that is constant and intact, lasting and happy . The meaning given by partner actors to intercultural marriage is that there is a positive meaning that intercultural marriage teaches mutual respect and mutual understanding on a difference, while the negative meaning of intercultural marriage gives negative perceptual impacts on different tribes so that it involves children in choosing future child partners. And the communication experiences that occur in intercultural marriages of the Minang-Malay ethnic tribe in Pekanbaru City have fun communication experiences that occur in the form of mutual understanding, openness to children in choosing child candidates who are different ethnic groups, love each other, defend each other and each other appreciate. Associated with unpleasant communication experiences, namely negative prejudice towards ethnicity and behavior, and the existence of conflicts between husbands and wives in choosing candidates for different ethnic group.

Abstract

Manggiliang ghompah is a tradition of cooking a mutual to prepare the meal of food in the event of marriage society Sub Cerenti Kuantan Singingi Regency of Riau Province which is currently still being done in the marriage of the local community, the purpose of this research study focuses on sight, enthusiasm as well as a deeper meaning towards the tradition of Manggiliang ghompah in the perspective of social construction.This type of research is qualitative research with approach of Phenomenology. Data collection techniques using observation and in-depth interview with 8 persons specified in Informant purposive sampling accompanied documentation field. To affirm the validity of research data is made through an extension of the participation and the triangulation of the data.The results of this research show the process of externalization of the community in view of the development of the case of the manggiliang tradition Cerenti ghompah who no longer classify the community into the future then as matrilineal tribe, then Manggiliang ghompah tradition that objectification is exposed to a new culture that is cattering, then shift the tool and entertainment that is used on the ghompah manggiliang tradition has changed, as well as the internalization of society Cerenti in interpret the presence of these manggiliang ghompah tradition.Keywords: Social Construction of Reality, Manggiliang Ghompah, Cerenti

Abstract

Thugun mandi tradition is one of the culture that still preserved and do by Riau Community. One of the them is in Pelangko Village Kelayang District Indragiri Hulu still do the thugun mandi tradition that means take a bath for the newborn baby.This research is Qualitative research that use symbolic Interaction approach and ethnograhy communication theory that reviewing the role of language in communicative behavior in society. The informant in this research is the village shaman, indigenous stakeholders, and others public figure. The data collection technique use observation, Interview, and documentation.The result of this research showed that thugun mandi tradition that campulsony do in every newborn babyis done in Parents house and attend by the Father’s and mother’s Family also invite the community. The communicative event of thugun mandi is type event that are regards, petition, pantun and pray mantra that is spaken by shaman baby indigenous stakeholders or older people. The topic of thugun mandi is to Formalize and introduce to the community that the family members increases, to express gratitude to Allah SWT and to tighten the relationship of both familywith other community. The aim and Fungction of thugun mandi is to pray for baby to be blessing in  life and to keep baby from evil spirits. The participants are the family from father, mother, colleague, the community and indigenous stake holders. The type of massage are verbal an nonverbal. The content of massage in thugun mandi event is in every process when the shaman start the event. The sequence of the events is in the begining when the baby is given a bracelet and thanksgiving event. The role of interaction is when the shaman sung the pray advice and mantra for the baby. The norm of this event is couresy norm, gather, appreciate the value and devout. Abstract

Pathway culture in Kuantan Singingi Regency is a cultural tradition that has lasted from colonial times to the present, the tradition is pathway. This track is held annually to commemorate the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day which is usually held in August every year. This pathway tradition is not only included in the Riau Province cultural tourism agenda but has also been included in the National cultural tourism agenda. Pacing this pathway has a cultural meaning contained therein, namely tenacity, cooperation, hard work, agility and sportsmanship. But behind it all without realizing the tradition of Pacu Path is loaded with magical practices or what is called shamanism. The practice of shamanism and forecasting is currently still believed by most of the Kuansing community in various ritual activities. Including lowering the lane, lowering lane in Kuantan singing can not be separated from the intervention of shamans or so-called magical. This magical practice has emerged at the beginning of the planning process and the process of making the path to the path has competed in the Batang Kuantan river arena every year.This study uses qualitative research methods, the technique of gathering informants used in this study is the Snowball technique, interview data collection techniques and documentation.The results of the research The process of lowering the pathway in Kuantan Singingi Regency there are 6 (six) stages, namely: a) Lane handlers install materials / offerings in the lane section. b) Path handlers surround the path. c) Pathers chant mantra / pray. d) Pray with the lane child. e) The lane handler determines the correct time to lane, to avoid the same time lane lane with other lanes, or competitors lane. f) After the time is set, the lane handler gives a signal to all lane children, so that the lane is ready to be lowered.Keywords: Meanings, Symbols, Paths.
