Abstract

The "Arrahman" partner is located in Kerten, Krincing Village, Secang District, Magelang manages around 200 to 300 goats. The process of preparing cattle fodder such as elephant grass and corn stalks is done manually using a knife. It causes the feed preparation process take longer considering the large number of goats being managed. The aim of this activity is to contrive and manufacture a chopper to help the process of cutting grass feed more effectively and efficiently. Because it is able to produce more feed capacity in a shorter time with a finer size. Activities are carried out in several stages. The first step is data accumulation and coordination together with partner. Continuing to the next step, the development of solving partner problems through chopper design. The method for measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of cutting cattle fodder is done by quantifying the capacity and quality of cattle fodder produced and quantifying the amount of rising in insight and knowledge of residents which is carried out by looking at before and after the application of the chopper. The primary result is a chopper with a capacity of 100 kg/hour with a 5.5 hp gasoline engine. Chopper parts can be disassembled and assembled, making it easier for partners to maintain and repair. The chopper increases the capacity of cutting animal feed to 100 kg/hour. The activity is able to increase residents' understanding and insight by up to 90%. It is because through design and construction activities, residents are able to understand and gain new insight into the process of making chopper machines.

Abstract

Renewable Energy Sources (NRE) must be used properly, as an effort to reduce the energy crisis and the impact of pollution. One of them is by developing Micro Hydro Power Plants (PLTMH). The type of turbine that has the potential to make PLTMH on rivers in Indonesia is a screw turbine. The purpose of this study is to find out the performance of PLTMH with a screw turbine using variations in pulley diameter ratios, namely 1:1, 3:2, 2:1, and 3:1. The results of this study show that the ratio of pulley diameter affects the performance of PLTMH in generating electrical power. The results obtained by the diameter ratio of 2:1 get maximum performance on each load on the generator with the generator power produced. The lowest results were obtained at a 1:1 diameter ratio variation on each load on the generator.

Abstract

Teknologi pengelasan logam digunakan sat ini sudah dapat menyambungkan dua jenis logam yang berbeda. Pengelasan tersebut masih sering dijumpai cacat las, permasalahan yang sering dihadapi adalah perbedaan titik lebur, koefisien muai, sifat fisis dan mekanis. Maka dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi jenis elektroda antara baja karbon rendah ASTM 106 gr B terhadap sifat mekanis dan fisisnya. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan eksperimental, pengelasan SMAW variasi jenis elektroda E7016 dan E7018. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jenis elektroda berpengaruh terhadap kekuatan tarik, kekerasan, dan strüktur mikro. Kekuatan tarik tertinggi sebesar 561,5 MPa dengan regangan 16,67 % dan modulus elastisitasnya 3387 Mpa. Hasil uji penetran menunjukkan spesimen dengan variasi elektroda E7016 memiliki cacat las yang lebih kecil. Hasil uji struktur mikro menunjukkan unsur fasa yang terbentuk pada E7018 yaitu ferrite dan perlite yang lebih merata.

Abstract

Turbine damage can be caused by several causes, including damage to the turbine due to cavitation on the surface of its blades. Miscalculation of the position or location of the turbine can occur and will result in this cavitation. The Thoma cavitation factor is used to determine whether the turbine operation is safe from cavitation. This research was conducted at the Wadaslintang Hydroelectric Power Plant. The research used a quantitative descriptive research method. This study aims to determine the level of cavitation that occurs in the Francis turbine at an actual reservoir elevation of 169.23 meters above sea level with maximum guide vane openings to minimum guide vane openings. At variations in guide vane openings of 100% and 80% cavitation occurs, while at guide vane openings of 76%, 60%, 40%, and 20% cavitation does not occur. The larger the guide vane opening, the cavitation level is in a more dangerous condition because the difference between the cavitation factor and the critical cavitation factor is smaller, with the difference values ​​of 1.285073, 1.023435, 0.970782, 0.763080, 0.506127, and 0.253081, respectively. The smaller the guide vane opening, the smaller the risk of cavitation, but the power generated is also smaller. Safe operating conditions from cavitation with the greatest power are found at a guide vane opening of 76%-80%. Keywords: francis turbine, guide vane, cavitation, thoma cavitation factor.

Abstract

Motor bakar adalah motor yang memanfaatkan prinsip penyesuaian panas untuk diubah menjadi energi mekanik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan bahan bakar motor bakar bensin yang dipasang pada Honda Supra 100cc. statistiknya adalah minus dengan sepeda motor pada rasio gigi dan kecepatan yang berbeda dengan jarak tempuh 3 kilometer. Pengujian dilakukan dengan rasio roda gigi 2, 3 dan 4 dengan kecepatan 20, 25, 30, 35 dan 40 kilometer/jam. Pengamatan dan perhitungan pada tiang pancang membuktikan bahwa penggunaan bahan bakar dengan rasio roda gigi 2 secara berurutan adalah 359.2, 410.9, 439.0, 545.9, dan 648.9 G/Jam. Dengan rasio kecepatan 3, masing-masing 296,9, 295,8, 408,6, 494,4, dan 624,5 G/jam. Dengan rasio rodá gìgì 4 masing-masing 201.9, 249.4, 419.0, 330.8 dan 538.0 G/Jam. Konsul mulai mengamati bahwa semakin besar akselerasi motor, maka semakin besar pula tingkat konsumsi bahan bakarnya. Berawal dari pengamatan tersebut, diketahui bahwa percobaan dilakukan dengan putaran mesin 2136 mencapai 6128 RPM. Reaksi tersebut membuktikan bahwa sebenarnya dengan akselerasi 20 kilometer/jam mencapai 40 kilometer/jam lebih efektif bekerja pada gèar rasio 4.

Abstract

A motorbike is one of the secondary needs of society, therefore the performance of the machine must also be considered, especially when choosing one of the components of the machine to be repaired or replaced. To get good motor performance, it must be balanced with a good ignition system too, so that the electricity supply is sufficient to do maximum work on the engine. The purpose of this study was to determine engine performance by comparing the ignition system between the use of standard coils and standard spark plugs with racing coils and racing spark plugs with Pertamax 98 fuel. The research was carried out using experimental methods or testing with the help of a dyno. From a comparative study of standard and racing ignition components on a Yamaha RX King 132cc motorbike, by replacing the spark plugs and coils that have been done, the results show that the highest power and torque values are obtained by replacing the racing coil and spark plugs. This is because the combustion in the cylinder chamber is better by replacing the racing ignition components.

Abstract

In this modern era, transportation is something that is needed by the general public, especially motorized vehicles, as evidenced by the presence of various new motorized vehicle products. However, the use of motorbikes that have been used daily for more than 5 years will experience a significant decrease in performance, this makes motorcycle owners want to improve the performance of the motorbikes they have. One step that can be taken to improve the performance of a motorcycle engine is to optimize the performance of the camshaft, so motorcycle owners do not need to change the cubic centimeter (cc) of their motorcycle but can optimize engine performance. In this study, the addition of camshaft lift variations of 1.5 mm using experimental methods to find the results of the effect of modifying the camshaft lift which will be adjusted to the engine capacity. The results of this study show an increase in torque and power which is quite significant with the highest torque results achieved on the modified camshaft addition of 1.5 mm lift of 8.6 Nm at 8000 rpm and power of 8.5 hp at 8000 rpm, this is due to the higher suction valve opening the greater the volume of air and fuel mixture entering the combustion chamber, resulting in an increase in torque and power.

Abstract

UD Barokah, produces traditional food “pothil”, is located in Mejing Village, Candimulyo District, Magelang Regency, is approximately 7 km from Tidar University. It produces pothil up to 50 kg/day with a selling price of IDR 70,000/kg. The pothil production process, from preparing ingredients to packaging, is still done manually. The processes that are still done manually are the process of draining the oil and the packaging process which still uses large clear plastic about 5 kg. The packaging also did not include a product label. The aim of this activity is to aid the Mejing Village community in the process of preserving and packaging pothil products.  Through this assistance, it is hoped that it will be able to increase the sales reach of pothil products to the general public in areas outside the Magelang Regency. The activity was carried out in two stages, the first stage was observation with discussion with partners and the second stage, problem solving by assisting in the process of preserving and packaging pothil products. The output of this activity is to improve the quality and sales capacity of Mejing Village pothil products and expand the marketing reach of pothil products.

Abstract

Tumbuhan kelapa memiliki banyak manfaat dan juga memiliki nilai jual yang cukup tinggi. Seiring perkembangan zaman, banyak alat-alat inovasi yang berfungsi untuk mempermudah kerja manusia. Penelitian ini akan merancang sebuah mesin pemarut kelapa dengan pengaman sistem tuas mekanis. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode permodelan menggunakan software solidworks 2020 dan melakukan perhitungan yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil perhitungan rancangan. Penelitian ini menghasilkan sebuah desain alat pemarut kelapa dengan hasil rangka mesin pemarut kelapa memiliki dimensi ukuran panjang 400 mm, lebar 300 mm, dan tinggi 610 mm. Pisau parut dengan ukuran diameter 76 mm dan memiliki jarak 6 mm pada masing-masing mata parut. Alat ini menggunakan motor listrik dengan daya 0,5 hp. Alat ini menggunakan puli penggerak 2 inch dan puli yang digerakkan 4 inch dengan putaran output 700 rpm. Material yang digunakan pada rangka mesin pemarut kelapa ini menggunakan besi siku sama sisi dengan profil ukuran 30 x 30 x 3 mm yang diberikan pembebanan sebesar 324 N. Dari hasil simulasi mendapatkan nilai von mises stress maksimum sebesar 165,19 MPa, deformasi sebesar 0,963 mm dan nilai safety factor sebesar 1,5.

Abstract

Pada proses pembuatan kentang goreng biasanya dikerjakan secara manual, hal tersebutlah yang menjadi kendala produksi jika kapasitasnya menjadi banyak dan membutuhkan waktu yang lebih lama. Dari permasalahan tersebut memerlukan mesin pemotong kentang secara otomatis agar proses pemotongan lebih maksimal. Pada mesin pemotong kentang, rangka merupakan komponen utama maka dari itu rangka harus memiliki kriteria yang baik, dari permasalahan tersebut perlunya analisis pada rangka agar mesin pemotong kentang bekerja secara baik. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui nilai dari analisis statis dan analisis dinamis dari rangka mesin pemotong kentang. Jenis besi yang digunakan yaitu baja profil L 30 x 30 mm dan tebal 2 mm dengan jenis material ASTM A36. Dengan pemberian beban total yang diberikan sebesar 13.601 Newton diharapkan mampu menopang kinerja mesin selama penggunaan. Hasil simulasi menggunakan software Ansys Workbench yaitu menghasilkan nilai displacement sebesar 7.0621e-003 mm, simulasi regangan menghasilkan nilai maksimal sebesar 7.0875e-006 mm/mm, safety factor pada rangka mesin pemotong kentang nilainya masih dalam range nilai aman, von mises stress menghasilkan nilai sebesar 1.2273 MPa dan nilainya masih dibawah nilai yield strength sebesar 250 Mpa, artinya ini aman digunakan selama penggunaan. Simulasi modal yang penghitungan frekuensi manual yang menghasilkan nilai 11.66 Hz, hal ini dinilai aman dikarenakan nilai tersebut jauh dari nilai pada simulasi yang menghasilkan minimal 230.23 Hz dan maksimal 431.4 Hz. Hasil dari simulasi respon harmoni menghasilkan amplitude paling besar 3.0516e-005 dan paling kecil 0.4976 mm. Dari hasil simulasi tersebut, maka rangka dinyatakan aman dan dapat digunakan.
