Abstract

Physics is a science that is often considered difficult by students and causes low physics learning achievement. One of the causes of low learning achievement is internal factors that arise from within the students, so a strategy with a self-regulated approach is needed such as the Self-Regulated Approach to Strategic Learning (SRSL) APICPEM (Analyse, Plan, Implement, Comprehend, Problem-Solve, Evaluate, Modify) so that students can carry out learning according to their needs and characteristics. This study aims to determine the application of Self-Regulated Approach to Strategic Learning (SRSL) APICPEM on students’ learning achievement in sound wave material. This research was conducted at a high school in Bandung with a sample of 72 students. The research method used is a mixed method with an unbalanced mixed design (concurrent embedded design). Quantitative data were collected through nonequivalent (posttest only) control group design using the posttest instrument for learning achievement in sound waves. Then qualitative data as a support was collected through narrative qualitative using a SRSL APICPEM mixed questionnaire instrument. The results showed that the implementation of APICPEM SRSL in the experimental group went very good (average score is 80%), with the selection of various student learning strategies according to the characteristics and various other factors, both internal and external factors of students. As well as there is a significant influence from the implementation of SRSL APICPEM on learning achievement with the effectiveness of its influence is evident from the effect size test, which resulted in a value of 0.622, classified as very high. Therefore, this study was able to prove that the application of SRSL APICPEM was able to improve student learning achievement in the topic of sound waves. Keywords: self-regulated, self-regulated approach to strategic learning, learning achievement, sound waves

Abstract

Students regard physics as challenging due to the difficulty of integrating knowledge learned before and after the lesson, which causes misconceptions. One such misconception pertains to the subject of temperature and heat. The objective of this study is to develop a four-tier diagnostic test instrument that can be used to identify concepts regarding heat and temperature. This study employed Rasch analysis as a mixed method. The unidimensionality of the instrument is very good at 50.3%, with a person measure of -0.39 and an Alpha Cronbach of 0.82, which suggests a strong interaction between the person and the details of the question as a whole. The consistency of the responses from students is adequate, as indicated by a person reliability of 0.80 and an item reliability of 0.99. However, the items' quality and the instrument's reliability are exceptional. The Outfit MNSQ Person and Item of 0.99 and the Outfit ZSTD with a value of 0.02 suggest that the quality is improving. The instrument includes ten questions that can be employed to identify students' conceptions. The utilization of this instrument has the potential to yield more comprehensive measurement results regarding students' misconceptions.

Abstract

Rapid advancements in science and technology have made critical thinking skills increasingly essential. 21st-century education focuses not only on knowledge transfer but also on developing crucial skills to meet future challenges. This study examines the enhancement of students' critical thinking skills by implementing the Learning cycle of the 9E model, which integrates real and virtual practicums on dynamic fluid materials. The research used a pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach involving 27 grade XI students selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected using a critical thinking skills test with 19 two-level multiple-choice questions and analyzed with Rasch modeling techniques. Results showed that the Learning cycle of the 9E model, combining real and virtual practicums, improved students' critical thinking skills by 5.74 logits, indicating a medium level of improvement. The racking technique revealed that initially, difficult questions became easier post-intervention, highlighting a positive impact on learning. Thus, the Learning cycle of the 9E model with real-virtual practicums effectively enhances students' critical thinking skills in dynamic fluid materials. These findings have significant theoretical and practical implications, supporting classroom learning and educational policies. The stacking and racking techniques provide deeper and more accurate analysis results.

Abstract

The students' learning motivation in high school is still relatively low to participate in physics learning. This research aims to enhance students' learning motivation using Augmented Reality (AR)-based interactive E-Modules in physics learning on global warming materials. The method used is pre-experimental, with the design of one pretest-posttest group and analysis techniques using the Rasch stacking model. The research sample comprised 36 students in class X at Sukabumi City High School. The data collection instrument is in the form of a learning motivation questionnaire that three lecturers have validated. The analysis showed that all students experienced increased positive learning motivation. The use of AR-based interactive E-Module was able to increase the learning motivation of students in the medium category by 64% (23 students), the high category by 11% (4 students), and the low category by 25% (9 students). These findings show that AR technology in physics learning can significantly increase students' motivation to learn and increase their engagement and understanding of physics subjects. Thus, AR technology has the potential to be an effective tool in more interesting future learning methods, especially in complex subjects such as physics.

Abstract

The students' disinterest and low ability to understand and translate physics concepts are challenges in physics learning. One of the solutions in this field is to implement a learning approach that can enhance students' interest and deepen their understanding and ability to translate abstract concepts of physics. This study aims to investigate the effect of implementing multi-representation-based physics learning on students’ representation translation abilities in linear motion. This study employs a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest. This study involved 62 students from two eleventh-grade classes at senior high schools in Bandung, which were selected using purposive sampling. The experimental group received Lesh-Janvier multi-representation-based learning treatment, while the control group received conventional teacher-centered learning treatment. These research instruments include tests for representation translation ability and student response questionnaires. The results indicate that the representation translation ability of the experimental group shows a significant improvement, with an n-gain value of 0.74. Students’ responses to the learning process were also positive. Hypothesis testing using IBM SPSS shows a significant result (Asymp. Sig. < 0.001) for the experimental group, indicating a significant difference. Thus, multi-representation-based learning positively affects students' representation translation abilities.      Keywords: multi representations, representation translation ability, linear motion.

Abstract

This research aims to determine students' problem-solving skills after using tournament-based online truth or dare media (New Todame). The effectiveness was measured at the implementation stage using a One-Group pretest-posttest design on 52 eleventh-grade IPA (Natural Science) students in one of the public high schools in Bandung City. The sampling technique employed was the purposive sampling technique. The testing techniques used were the normality test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov), the non-parametric Wilcoxon test, and the N-Gain test. Data collection was done by interview, preliminary study questionnaire, validation sheet, feasibility questionnaire, and pretest & posttest sheets. The results showed that the New Todame media was effective in improving students’ problem-solving skills on Newton's law material. The normality test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov) showed Sig. Value of less than 0.05, so that the Wilcoxon test was needed. The Wicoxon test results showed a significant difference in the average pretest and posttest, indicated by five aspects of problem-solving skills having an Asym.Sig value of 0.000. In addition, the increase in problem-solving skills on Newton's law material after students use New Todame media shows an N-Gain of 0.455 in the medium category
