This includes the integration of instilling students with asense of belonging and purpose in life, development a positive self-image and the ability tobecome productive citizens. As educational leaders, we look forward to building aneducational institution where we could have committed leaders and administrators, well -trained teachers, sophisticated curriculums, and adequate facilities and textbooks.Nevertheless, with all these facilitators, what can we expect from schools as a home foryouth development if those young people grow up in families and community characterizedby poverty, violence, lack of health care, high unemployment rates, low-wages, singleparentfamilies, and crime? Under these circumstances, any devotion to school’simprovement without involving simultaneous efforts to address the problems occurred inthe family and community will likely remain undesirable outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate practices of raising up young athletes from a sociological perspective. In particular, I looked at how parents enacted their capitals within the contexts of youth sport as a social field. This qualitative study involved 6 participants who had experiences of parenting their children in youth sport for at least five years. Data were collected through in-depth interviews. Thematic analysis was employed to facilitate inductive analysis toward the construction of themes from the data. A computer assisted qualitative data analysis software (CAQDAS), namely ATLAS.ti 22, was utilized to help the researcher manage complex data set and achieve trustworthiness criteria. Three themes have been constructed through mainly inductive analysis. These were (1) the contextual practices of youth sport as social field, (2) economic, cultural and social capital at play in parenting practices of youth sport, and (3) capital exchange as practices within and beyond youth sport. The current study concludes that sociological thoughts on social field and capitals are advantageous to understand the social complexity of day-to-day parenting practices of youth sport. However, agenda for further studies would need to explore the field of youth sport utilizing other sociological frameworks.

Abstract

The current research aimed at investigating physical education teachers’ experiences in practicing inclusive physical education and the meaning they attached to those experiences. The study focused on the thematic analysis of participants’ experiences represented in the collected qualitative data. A number of 12 physical education teachers participated in in-depth interviews and photo elicitation interviews. Verbatim transcripts were obtained from all interviews for subsequent analysis. Using the tenets of thematic analysis (Braun Clarke, 2006, 2019, 2021), analysis included familiarization with the data, open coding, theme construction, theme review, theme naming, and report production. The analysis process yielded four themes of teachers’ experiences including (1) the roles of background knowledge and skills, (2) teaching various types of disabilities, (3) inclusive pedagogy approaches, (3) facilitators and barriers to teaching inclusive physical education. The meaning of the experiences were the meaning of inclusion, inclusive physical education, and inclusive physical education teaching. We conclude that experience is important in delivering inclusive PE, especially with regard to teachers’ development in the area of pedagogical knowledge and skills as well as dealing with challenges in their teaching approaches. Along with this experience is the meaning of teaching inclusive PE which reflected in-depth engagement with this caring profession.

Abstract

Islamic education is said to have less relevance with today's social change in society or does not provide an illustration of the sociocultural context, so students do not appreciate religious values as values that exist in everyday life. This phenomenon requires Islamic education teachers to adopt a teaching approach focusing on higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). Unfortunately, not many Islamic education teachers understand such an approach and how to implement it in their classrooms. This article is a library research study using a content analysis approach. The purpose of this article was to review the literature on HOTS and to offer Islamic education teachers the possibilities and pitfalls of employing this approach. The literature review results show that the basic thing that Islamic education teachers need to do in the 21st century is to change the orientation of their learning from Teacher Centered Learning (TCL) to Student Center Learning (SCL). Islamic education teachers need to prepare and pay attention to various aspects of implementing HOTS-based learning, from planning activities to assessment activities, which must be carried out according to the implementation procedure.

Abstract: Research on teachers’ reflection has not only been apparent in educational literature, but it has also attacked by critiques from different perspectives. Abstract

Teacher performance assessment is a system designed to determine teachers' capacity to perform their duties by assessing the competence of skills demonstrated in their performance. Analyzing the madrasah teacher' performance assessment in underdeveloped areas of Indonesia is challenging. This study aimed to decipher the experience of assessing the performance of madrasah teachers in underdeveloped regions of Indonesia. It was a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach conducted in Maluku Province. Purposive sampling was used to select samples, including the head of the Islamic Education Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Regency, the madrasah principals, and teachers assessed for their performance. The data was gathered through interviews and analyzed using an interactive model. The findings revealed five significant problems with the madrasah teacher performances in underdeveloped areas: compliance with teacher performance assessment (TPA) guidelines, implementation, natural conditions, costs, and transportation.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the beliefs among professionals in the field of physical education at the elementary level, more specifically in the context of Thailand. The participants were five exemplary elementary physical education (PE) teachers. All participants signed informed consent prior to data collection. We used semi-structured interviews to gather information on participants' beliefs. Each interview lasted approximately 45 minutes. All interviews were audio recorded and later transcribed for analysis. Data collection occurred in two ways: (1) in-depth semi-structured interviews and (2) semi-structured follow-up interviews. Data were analyzed using a thematic coding procedure to find the significant statements related to research questions. Results showed three themes constructed from data analysis, including trends: (1) to teach the foundation of basic skills that moved beyond sport-oriented PE, (2) to consider physical education for Health and integrated physical education, and (3) to perceive limited time to deliver contemporary physical education. We conclude that the beliefs about the trends in physical education have been aligned with the global trends in physical education. These cover topic areas of skill development and health issues with a strong emphasis on physical education that serves the best interests of the children. Relevant stakeholders should then ensure that physical education will be delivered according to the interest of today's children. Future research should seriously focus on this specific area of study, encompassing policy, program, and practice of physical education.
