Abstract

The prevailing paradigm today emphasizes economic growth measured through human development rather than solely through per capita income. Enhancing welfare and improving the quality of life for communities are the ultimate goals of economic development. Achieving these objectives requires substantial efforts that avoid bias related to gender, ethnicity, race, religion, and class. However, in practice, these efforts often overlook issues of equality and justice, reflected in the differing roles of men and women as both agents and beneficiaries of development. This study aims to investigate the impact of average years of schooling, average wages, and labor force participation rates on the Gender Development Index across 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2013 to 2022. The analysis methods employed include model fit testing, classical assumption testing, panel data linear regression, partial (t-test) and simultaneous (F-test) hypothesis testing, as well as coefficient determination using Eviews. The findings reveal that average years of schooling and average wages have a positive and significant effect on the Gender Development Index, while labor force participation rates do not significantly impact the Gender Development Index.

Abstract

Purpose:The purpose of this research is to know the effect of the divided government and the incumbent government on the economic growth in regions and cities in Indonesia. Methodology:This research uses 157 regions and cities which had run the regional election in June till August in 2005 as the sample. This is due to the perception of how the regional election had just begun in 2005 while the next and the upcoming election were held in 2010. By far, the data is taken until the end of 2010 to picture the progress of the governmental performance during the period of the leadership of the incumbent leader. Main Findings:As a result, it is found that the incumbent leader has a negative effect on economic growth. This can be seen on the differences between the area with the new leader and the incumbent leader. There are several causes that lead to these results. First, it shows that the voters have not yet evaluated the performance during the leadership period. Second, because the incumbent leader is in the last period of their leadership, they tend to maximize their personal and their group interest, as well as their party, which is resulted to the ignorance of economic growth. Another key finding is that divided government has no effect on economic growth. In Indonesia, the regional leader anticipates the issue of the divided government by doing accommodative politics for the representative member of the regional house (DPRD). Instead of only becoming the checker and balancing power, this action is taken to support all the actions of the regional leader. Thus, it is confirmed that there is no difference between the divided or unified government.

Abstract

The lack of knowledge regarding organic waste management poses a significant challenge in various regions, including Pekon Panutan and Pagelaran District. Improper waste management can lead to negative impacts such as environmental pollution and health issues. One viable solution is to utilize organic waste as a valuable product through maggot cultivation. Maggots are the larvae of the Black Soldier Fly (BSF), which can decompose organic waste into high-quality compost (kasgot) used as animal feed. BUMDes Arthomoro in Pekon Panutan has the potential to enhance the economic value of waste through maggot utilization, which is supported by abundant organic waste, sufficient human resources, and community support. This community service aims to raise awareness and encourage community participation in maggot utilization. The results indicate increased residents' understanding of managing organic waste and active participation in the maggot cultivation program. The methods used include socialization and practical maggot farming training. The program received positive feedback and appreciation from community members, successfully improving participants' understanding of maggot farming as a solution for organic waste management and an opportunity to enhance economic income. This success was vital to good initial coordination, participant enthusiasm, and support from the Pekon Head and relevant stakeholders.

Abstract

Coffee farming commodities are one of Indonesia's leading export commodities to various coffee-importing countries in the world and contribute to the country's foreign exchange. Indonesia is the fourth largest coffee producer in the world after Brazil, Vietnam and Colombia. The five countries that are the main export destinations for Indonesian coffee beans (HS code 090111) are the United States, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Malaysia, however, the average export of Indonesian coffee to Germany and Japan shows an expected decline due to the low competitiveness of Indonesian coffee exports. The purpose of the study was to analyze Indonesian coffee exports to Germany and Japan. The data used by the value panel (US Dollar) is from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Trade MAP and UN Comtrade for the 2014-2023 period. The analysis method uses Revealed Competitive Advantage (RCA) which has a value of > 1 and the method is refined with Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage (RSCA) which has < values of 0 and > 0. The results of the study found that Indonesian coffee exports in Germany and Japan have strong competitiveness in the German market, but compared to Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, Guatemala, Indonesia's RSCA value in the German and Japanese markets is far behind. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the volume of coffee exports to the German and Japanese markets in a sustainable manner

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that has a serious impact on the quality of human resources (HR) and long-term economic growth. Mesuji Regency is one of the areas with a relatively high stunting prevalence rate in Lampung Province. This study aims to analyze the role of the Office of Population Control and Family Planning (PPKB) in the implementation of stunting prevention policies in Mesuji Regency, evaluate its implementation, and identify program success indicators. The research method used is qualitative with a policy evaluation approach using the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, Product). The results show that the PPKB Office has a strategic role as a cross-sector coordinator in the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS), an implementer of educational programs such as Bina Keluarga Balita (BKB), and regional innovations such as the Community Movement Against Stunting (GEBERMAS). Evaluation of the implementation indicated good achievements in the context and input aspects, marked by regulatory support, leadership commitment, and adequate budget allocation. However, challenges remain, including limited human resources, unequal basic facilities, and suboptimal coordination among government agencies. The decrease in the number of stunted children from 1,456 in 2022 to 1,083 in 2023 demonstrates the positive impact of the implemented policies. Strengthening cross-sector coordination, improving the availability of supporting facilities, and increasing community participation and awareness are essential to ensure the sustainability of stunting prevention programs.

Abstract

Indonesia, an archipelago with a diverse and growing population of 278.69 million as of mid-2023, faces both advantages and challenges in its pursuit of becoming a developed country. The key challenge lies in the unequal distribution of infrastructure development, especially in remote areas. Economic growth, driven by increased goods and services, is closely tied to infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and water distribution. This study analyzes the impact of these infrastructural elements and labor force participation on economic growth, measured by Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), across 34 provinces from 2017 to 2021. Using panel data regression, the results reveal that road length, electricity distribution, and clean water distribution have significant positive effects on GRDP. However, labor force participation shows an insignificant impact. Together, these variables explain 57% of GRDP growth. The findings highlight the critical role of infrastructure in economic development, with provinces like Jakarta leading the growth while regions like North Maluku lag behind. Improving infrastructure and addressing regional disparities are essential to enhancing Indonesia’s overall economic performance.

Abstract

Euphoria to decentralization and regional autonomy in 2000 seemingly causes the decision makers to provide more priority to allocation and transfer, such as public allocation funds and revenue sharing which provides broad discretion for regional governments to manage the use. The role of specific allocation funds which are able to be a trusted stimulus for reaching the national development target and prioritize externalization from regional public service which is ignored. The allocation of balancing funds has a strategic and primary purpose which is the encouragement of a relatively high economic growth and does not cause inequality. The source of funds of the new autonomous regions other than from locally generated revenue are also from transferred funds from the central government in the form of public allocation funds, specific allocation funds and revenue sharing. Those sources of funding contribute to the creation of regional economy development inequality. Research results show that in the last three years the inequality of economic development in new autonomous regions has narrowed. That condition is sustained by the willingness of public allocation funds, specific allocation funds, and while revenue sharing does not significantly influence economic development inequality in the regions. Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this community service activity is to assist in the reporting of tax returns (SPT) using electronic forms (e-Forms) and to provide a comprehensive understanding of the community and business actors. It is expected to empower and enhance the understanding of annual tax reporting for residents and business actors in Purworejo Village, Negeri Katon District, and the Pesawaran Regency. Methodology: The implementation of this community service uses the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method, a technique that enables the community to participate in making real action plans and monitoring and evaluating policies that affect their lives. Results: Through the training and socialization organized in this community service, business actors in the village became more aware of their tax obligations. Consequently, they are more diligent in recording their business transactions and income, enabling them to complete the e-Form SPT more accurately. Limitation: The results of this research may be difficult to announce because conditions in Purworejo Village may differ significantly from other villages or areas, making it difficult to generalize the findings. Contribution: By using digital technology and e-Form SPT, MSMEs can be more effective in fulfilling their tax reporting obligations and managing their administration. This activity encourages MSMEs to adopt modern technology, increase tax compliance, and reduce administrative burden.
