Based on data obtained in the Working Area of the Kapasa Health Center, Tamalanrea District, Makassar City, hypertension is the second highest disease of the 10 highest diseases in the region. While Kapasa Raya sub-district Patients with hypertension predominantly experienced by the elderly usually have no complaints and only experience mild symptoms such as neck headaches, dizziness, irregular heartbeat, or often tired. This activity aims to determine the level of knowledge about hypertension in Kapasaraya District, Makassar City and the effectiveness of progressive muscle relaxation in the treatment and prevention of hypertension complications. The activity, which will be held on September 30, 2023, targets 20 people with high blood pressure in Kapasa Raya Village, Tamaranea District, Makassar City. There are two activities carried out are the provision of hypertension education materials and training on progressive muscle relaxation techniques. The provision of educational materials on hypertension topics is carried out with lecture and discussion techniques. Training in progressive muscle relaxation techniques is carried out directly.  The media used are PowerPoint slides and brochures on the LCD screen. The results of this activity provide information on the level of knowledge before carrying out hypertension education: less (75%), sufficient (25%). After the training there was a very significant increase in knowledge between less knowledge (20%) and sufficient knowledge (80%). The measurement results showed that progressive muscle relaxation exercises produced changes in systolic and diastolic blood pressure before and after exercise. Average systolic blood pressure 160.81 mmHg and diastolic 105.35 mmHg, as well as systolic blood pressure after exercise 153.32 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure 92.36 mmHg. The conclusion of this activity was that the level of knowledge of respondents increased after training and the decrease in blood pressure both systolic and diastolic changed after progressive muscle relaxation therapy.  The implication of this activity is that respondents and their families routinely perform progressive muscle relaxation exercises to reduce hypertension and prevent complications of hypertension

Abstract

Background: Anemia is a symptom of a lack of red blood cells due to low hemoglobin levels. Based on the performance assessment report of the Tuban Regency Senori Community Health Center  East Java Indonesia in 2022, it was found that 36.65% of pregnant women experienced anemia. This shows that there are still many pregnant women who experience anemia and need treatment. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of spinach consumption on increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. Method: quasi experiment with One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sample in this study was 16 pregnant women with anemia in the Senori Community Health Center Tuban Regency East Java Indonesia, who met the inclusion criteria. The research instrument used an observation sheet to determine hemoglobin levels in the blood before and after consuming green spinach, an easy touch Hb level check tool. Data were analyzed using paired T-test. Result : The average Hb level of pregnant women before the intervention was 10.20 gr% and after the intervention was 11.18 gr%, the results of the paired t-test showed a significance value = 0.000, so the significance value (2-tailed) < α (0 .05) which shows that there is an effect of spinach consumption on increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. Conclusion : There is an effect of spinach consumption on increasing Hb levels in pregnant women. Integrated ANC activities are expected to be carried out routinely so that pregnant women who experience anemia can be detected early and health workers can provide explanations to pregnant women about the dangers of anemia during pregnancy and the consumption of spinach and its benefits.

However, 25% of the participants show that its effectiveness depends on the quality of materials given. These findings highlight the importance of designing high quality of material to maximize the benefits of flipped classrooms for diverse learners. Future research can explore ways to optimize flipped classroom materials for students woith limited time. For addition, educators need to address technological and accessibility challenges to ensure inclusivity.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn Indonesia, including in Makassar City, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) continues to increase. To control diabetes mellitus (DM), an integrated approach must be implemented, which includes health education and early screening. The purpose of this community service program is to increase public awareness about diabetes mellitus, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and identify individuals who are at risk of diabetes mellitus in the work area of the Pampang Health Center. Health counseling, blood sugar checks, and training on healthy food and exercise are all part of the program. The methods used in this program include interactive lectures, group discussions, and individual health screenings. The target audience of the program is the vulnerable population, including individuals with a family history of DM and those with a sedentary lifestyle. The results show an increase in participants' understanding of DM risk factors and prevention measures. In addition, blood glucose testing helps identify individuals who need further referral for diagnosis and treatment. This program has a positive impact on raising community awareness of the importance of early detection and DM control through behavioral changes. It is expected that this activity can continue and become a model for community-based DM control in other regions. Collaboration between educational institutions, healthcare professionals, and the community is key to the success of this program in reducing the incidence of DM at Pampang Community Health Center, Makassar City.Edukasi dan Pemeriksaan Dini: Upaya Pengendalian Diabetes Mellitus di Puskesmas Pampang Kota MakassarABSTRAKDi Indonesia, termasuk di Kota Makassar, prevalensi diabetes mellitus (DM) terus meningkat. Abstract

This study explores students' perceptions of podcast-based reading tasks in enhancing reading skills among fourth-semester English Department students at a private university in Malang. Using a qualitative case study approach, twelve intermediate-level students participated in podcast-based reading activities, followed by semi-structured interviews. The collected data were transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns in students’ experiences. The findings reveal that students experienced improved reading comprehension when listening to podcasts before reading transcripts, particularly in initial text understanding, word recognition, attention to textual details, and active engagement with intentionally gapped transcripts. Despite minor challenges related to speech clarity, students reported increased reading confidence and expressed interest in continued use of this method. The integration of listening and reading through podcasts demonstrates potential for enhancing EFL students’ reading development and engagement with English texts.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the leading health problems with high incidence and mortality rates among women in Indonesia. Early detection through breast self-examination (BSE) is a simple, inexpensive, and effective method to reduce the risk of late diagnosis. However, awareness and practice of BSE among women of reproductive age remain low, including in the working area of Mangasa Primary Health Center, Makassar. This community service aimed to improve women’s knowledge and skills regarding BSE through health education. The method used was counseling with slide and video media involving 20 participants, accompanied by evaluation using pretest and posttest questionnaires. The results showed that before education, most participants (90%) had poor knowledge, 10% had fair knowledge, and none had good knowledge. After education, 95% of participants had good knowledge and 5% had fair knowledge, with none remaining in the poor category. This program also improved participants’ ability to perform BSE correctly. These findings indicate that health education is effective in enhancing knowledge and skills of women regarding BSE. Continuous education programs at primary health centers are essential as a preventive effort against breast cancer

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of diction, cohesion, and coherence in the text of President Jokowi's speech on the commemoration of World Anti-Corruption Day 2023 through the perspective of Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis. Data collection was carried out using the Listen and Record technique. Then, the data was analyzed using the critical discourse analysis theory of the Norman Fairclough model which only focuses on the dimension of the text through the selection of diction, cohesion, and coherence in the speech text to understand the message about anti-corruption conveyed and its impact on public perception. The results of the analysis show that although the speech has a good structure and careful use of language, there are contradictions in the delivery that can cast doubt on the government's commitment to eradicating corruption. This study emphasizes the need for concrete actions that accompany speeches to achieve the goal of effective corruption eradication.
