Abstract

The Maritime Santri School (SENTRIMAR) is a pesantren-based environmental education model designed to enhance students’ literacy and awareness of sustainable maritime issues. Implemented at Al-Anwari Superior Islamic Junior High School in Banyuwangi, the program leverages its proximity to Santen Island’s coastline as a natural laboratory for experiential learning. Core activities included environmental socialization, mangrove and sea pandanus planting, beach clean-up, and turtle hatchling release, conducted over five months with participatory methods and intensive mentoring. Program evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure students’ understanding of maritime environmental concepts. The average pre-test score was 56, which significantly increased to 86 in the post-test. This improvement demonstrates the effectiveness of community-based and hands-on educational approaches in fostering ecological awareness among students. SENTRIMAR not only reinforces pesantren values such as discipline and responsibility but also equips participants with relevant conservation knowledge and skills to address contemporary environmental challenges.

Abstract

Abstract

3D printing machines are used to print products that support sports activities, such as shin guards. During sports, shin guards are protective equipment to prevent injury to the lower legs. Filaments that are suitable for making shin guards are thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and polyethylene terephthalate (PETG) because they have impact resistance properties needed to protect the feet during sports. The variation is the level parameter layer height, nozzle temperature, printing speed, and bed temperature. Next, an impact test will be carried out to determine the optimal parameter variation on the 3D printing machine, which is expected to be a reference for printing quality products. This study uses a 3D printer, Ender v3, to print specimens and shin guard products. The material used is TPU+PETG filament. The Taguchi method with the orthogonal matrix L9(3)4 was repeated thrice for each experiment. After that, an analysis of variance was carried out. Parameter variations used in the study were layer height (0.1 mm, 0.2 mm, 0.3 mm), nozzle temperature (220℃, 225℃, 230℃), printing speed (45mm/s, 45mm/s, 50mm/s) and bed temperature. (70℃, 75℃, 80℃). In this study, Charpy impact testing will be carried out. The combination of factors that can produce an optimal impact test is layer height level 2 (0.2 mm), nozzle temperature level 1 (220℃), printing speed level 3 (50 mm/s) and bed temperature level 2 (75℃) with an impact strength value the highest was 27.20 and the lowest was 11.07. The combination of factors that have the most significant effect on the impact test strength values is layer height 63.97%, nozzle temperature 6.19%, printing speed 2.07% and bed temperature 4.74%.

Abstract

The Dharma Kencana V passenger ship is a type of crossing ship owned by a Japanese shipping company which was later acquired by an Indonesia shipping company whose planned shipping route crosses from Surabaya to Makassar. With the transfer of the ship’s shipping route, repairs and the addition of new construction in the deck A area were carried out so that the addition of the new construction increased the load the ship received. This study aims to determine the allowable stress allowed by the Indonesian Classification Bureau (BKI) Rules for Hull 2022 [1] from the stress results due to new construction on the deck. The analysis was carried out using the finite element method with numerical modeling using Ansys Static Structure student version software with a division of elements (meshing) size 200 mm on deck A frame 13 to 85. Based on the results of the element division of deck KM. Dharma Kencana V into 44767 elements at nodes 45384 and the maximum stress at 77.41 MPa. The allowable stress limit based on the BKI standard does not exceed 230 MPa, [1] so a safety factor of 2.97 is obtained so it can be concluded that the strength of the construction of deck A KM. Dharma Kencana V is still a safe category.

Abstract

The use of lightweight structural materials, high mechanical strength, and resistance to corrosive marine conditions is very important for the marine industry. The properties of lightweight, strong, and corrosion-resistant materials can be fulfilled by one of the materials, namely polyurethane sandwich composites. The purpose of this study is to study how sandwich composites function mechanically with various types of reinforcing layers (skins), including Chop Strand Mat (CSM), Woven Roving (WR), and a mixture (CSM + WR) and two types of cores, namely polyurethane sheet and polyurethane foam. This study uses a hand lay-up technique to make sandwich composite specimens. Then, the specimens were tested with flexural and impact tests to measure the mechanical properties of the material. The flexural test results showed that the specimen with WR skin and polyurethane sheet core had the highest flexural strength of 94.78 MPa. On the other hand, the impact test, the WR composition also showed the best value, with an impact value of up to 0.34 J/mm² in the polyurethane foam core configuration. The results showed that the sandwich composite consisting of a WR skin and a polyurethane foam core had the best mechanical performance in terms of flexural strength and impact toughness. Therefore, this composite can be used as an alternative structural material in marine industry applications.
