Abstract

Abstract

The distribution of subsidized fuel for fishermen is largely determined by government regulations and policies. A well-implemented distribution institution ensures that subsidized fuel reaches fishermen appropriately. This study aims to analyze the institutionalization of subsidized fuel for fishermen in Kangkung Village, Bumi Waras District, Bandar Lampung City. The approach used is a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection through in-depth interviews, participatory observation and documentation studies. Data processing is carried out to analyze the institutionalization of subsidized fuel distribution for fishermen. The results of the study indicate that fishermen who use diesel fuel obtain subsidized diesel fuel at fishermen's fuel station according to the provisions set by the Downstream Regulatory Agency Committee Oil and Fuel. Not all fishermen can meet the required provisions. This causes there are still fishermen who cannot access subsidized diesel fuel for their business needs. Fishermen who use Pertalite also cannot freely access subsidized pertalite at the fuel station due to less supportive institutional governance. Thus, it is still necessary for the government to improve regulations so that distribution is more effective and controlled, so that subsidized fuel can be accessed evenly by small fishermen.

Abstract

The low sustainability of participation in the Fishermen’s Insurance Premium Assistance program shows that there is an Institution issue. The research intents to analyze the institution of the fishermen’s insurance program in Bandar Lampung City. This study used the case study method as a qualitative approach. Data were obtained by in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Analysis is used to describe institutions based on situation, structure, behavior, and performance. The results of the study show that the efforts of the insurance program in Bandar Lampung City to protect fishermen have not been achieved in the second year. This occurred because the insurance participants did not pay the premium independently or at personal expense. The fishermen are not interested in participating in insurance, in spite of the premium cost being economical. Institutions are included in the BPAN program, which plays an important role in determining the continuation of fishermen’s insurance participation. The government should consider the punishment and agreements that must be submissive by fishermen to become effective regulation. In addition, the Social Security Administrator for Employment, as an insurance provider, must accommodate the simple insurance premium payments for fishermen.

Abstract

The Fishermen's Joint Business Group is a local institution that plays a vital role in sustainable blue swimming crab fishing practices. This study aims to analyze the institution structure of the Joint Business Group in supporting sustainable blue swimming crab fishing efforts in Kuala Teladas Village, Tulang Bawang Regency. This research is a qualitative study whose data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation study. Data were analyzed to examine the institution and organization structure of the group. The study results show that the Joint Business Group is vital as a collective forum for fishermen to discuss, share information, and access crab resources. The group's simple organization structure with clear rights, obligations, and sanctions in the Articles of Association/Bylaws encourages active participation by members. The implementation of blue swimming crab management policies has brought positive changes to fishermen's behaviour, especially in the use of environmentally friendly fishing gear. However, significant challenges include economic pressures during the lean season, lack of alternative livelihoods, and weak supervision. Increasing the institution capacity of Joint Business Groups is carried out through collaboration between non-governmental organizations, fisheries extension, and the government. This is implemented through socialization, training, and mentoring in organization management, leadership, and business diversification. Grant assistance and alternative business training for fishermen have strengthened the economic position of fishermen. Increasing institution capacity through collaboration with various stakeholders is key to supporting the socio-economic sustainability of fishermen and sustainable blue swimming crab fishing efforts.

Abstract

Vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is one of Indonesia's leading cultivation commodities in the fisheries sector. The success of the vaname shrimp cultivation business cannot be separated from the water quality parameters, which play a role in supporting their growth and survival rate. Salinity is a water quality variable that plays a very important role in the growth and survival of Vannamei shrimp. The aim of this research was to study the growth and survival rate of vaname shrimp reared at low salinity. The research design used was a completely randomized design consisting of three treatments and four replications. These treatments had media salinities of 1 ppt, 3 ppt, and 5 ppt. Shrimp rearing is carried out in a 40-liter volume container with a stocking density of 40 fish per container, or 1 PL/L. Shrimp farming is carried out for 35 days. The observation parameters carried out during this research were Specific Growth Rate (SGR), Growth Rate (GR), Survival Rate (SR), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), Total Vibrio Count (TVC), and water quality in the maintenance media. The research results showed that media salinity of 3 and 5 ppt was the best treatment for increasing the growth and survival rate of vaname shrimp.

Abstract

Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) cultivation in Indonesia has been carried out since the early 2000s with satisfactory results. This shrimp is able to replace the previously cultivated black tiger (Penaeus monodon), which experienced cultivation failure due to disease attacks. The pond construction used includes an earthen pond, a lining pond, and a concrete pond, which are equipped with paddlewheels as a source of dissolved oxygen. Pacific white shrimp are mostly cultivated using semi-intensive, intensive, and super-intensive systems, depending on technological input and stocking density. Semi-intensive stocking density is around 50 PL/m2, intensive 100 PL/m2, and super-intensive 500 PL/m2, with productivity of 10 tons/ha, 15 tons/ha, and 42 tons/ha, respectively. There are two types of harvests carried out by farmers in Indonesia, namely partial harvests and total harvests. The main aim of partial harvest is to reduce excessive shrimp biomass, as indicated by a decrease in dissolved oxygen content. Problems that often arise during the cultivation process are disease attacks such as white spots and infectious myonecrosis (IMN) caused by viruses, White Feces Syndrome (WFS)  and Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHPND) caused by Vibrio parahaemolitycus and Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP). To increase the productivity of whiteleg shrimp cultivation, the advice given is to minimize disease attacks, namely by installing several biosecurity devices, such as bird scaring devices (BSD), crab protection devices (CPD), and water filtration. In addition, the application of a recirculation aquaculture system, biofloc technology, aquamimicry and whiteleg shrimp cultivation at low salinity (inland) can be an alternative cultivation in the future.

Abstract

Excessive interdialytic weight gain in End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients may reduce their quality of life well-being. High self-efficacy (belief in one's own ability) can increase the patient's readiness to live a better quality of life. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) and self-efficacy relate to each other in patients with end-stage renal disease. This study uses a correlational quantitative design type with a cross-sectional method approach. The sampling method used purposive sampling with a total of 107 respondents. Univariate data analysis test to determine the characteristics of respondents. The Spearman Rank correlation test is used in bivariate analysis to determine the relationship between two variables, while the cross sectional design is to analyze the relationship between variables that have been collected at one time simultaneously. The results of this study were 69 patients (64.5%) had low self-efficacy and a moderate IDWG category of 56 patients (52.3%). The Rank-Spearman test results obtained a p-value of 0.000 and a positive Spearman correlation value (r) of 0.565. The conclusion that can be drawn is that there is a strong and significant relationship between self-efficacy and IDWG in patients with end stage renal disease. The suggestion from this study is that hospital managers consider making policies related to the service and care of ESRD patients by providing regular education related to fluid restriction compliance by applying media in the form of educational videos or leaflets or posters in the waiting room.
