Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kecernaan BK, BO dan SK pada daun bangun-bangun (Coleus amboinicus L) setelah dilakukan proteksi. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah memproteksi daun bangun-bangun P0 daun bangun-bagun tanpa perlakuan, P1 daun bangun-bangun di proteksi dengan kapsul, P2 daun bangun- bangun di proteksi daun kembang sepatu (saponin), P3 daun bangun-bangun di proteksi batang pisang (tanin). Peubah yang diamati yaitu kecernaan bahan kering (KcBK), kecernaan bahan organik (KcBO), dan kecernaan serat kasar (KcSK). Data diperoleh dianalisis dengan analisis ragam. Jika berpengaruh nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proteksi menggunakan kapsul, saponin dan tanin berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap KcBK, KcBO, dan KcSK daun bngun-bangun lebih lanjut terlihat pada P2 menunjukkan hasil yang baik dibandingkan P0, P1 dan P3. Hasil terbaik dicapai pada P2 yaitu proteksi menggunakan saponin yang di ekstrak dari daun kembang sepatu dengan hasil kecernaan BK (83,56%), BO (83,61%), SK (83,02%) Berdasarkan hasil ini dapat disimpulkan bahan proteksi berupa saponin dapat memproteksi daun bangun-bangun dengan baik.

Abstract

This study was aims to determine the effect of ensilage duration and EM4 bioactivator arasto produce good physical quality and the lowest HCN content in cassava peel silage. The design used was a completely randomized design with a factorial pattern (4×3) with 3 replications. The first factor (A) ensilage duration (A0 = no ensilage, A1 = 7 days, A2 = 14 days and A3 = 21 days) and the second factor (B) EM4 levels (B0 = 0%, B1 = 2% and B2 = 4 %). The observed variables included physical quality in the form of color, texture, odor, pH, percentage of shrinkage, and HCN content of cassava peel silage. The data obtained were analyzed with SAS version 9.1 for parametric data.. Meanwhile, non-parametric data was processed using the Kruskal-Wallis test, if it had a significant effect, it was continued with the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that the ensilage duration had a significant effect (P<0.05) on color, odor, texture, pH, percentage of shrinkage and HCN content. The EM4 arashad a significant effect (P<0.05) on the color, odor, texture and HCN content but no significant effect (P>0.05) on the pH and the percentage of shrinkage. The interaction between ensilage time and EM4 arashad a significant effect (P<0.05) on texture, pH and HCN content, however there are not significant effect (P>0.05) on color, odor and percentage of shrinkage. The study was concluded that ensilage process up to 21 days and inclusion EM4 at 4% arasresulted in good physical quality and lowest HCN content of cassava peel silage.

Abstract

Coleus amboinicus L. leaf (CAL) could reduce the rate of amino acid deamination and protein degradation within the rumen. This phenomenon would hopefully increase the amount of protein that passes through the rumen to the abomasum. Therefore, it might improve the digestibility of the ration and then influence the milk yield and quality. The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effect of extracted CAL within the ration on the ration digestibility, milk yield, and milk quality of Ettawa crossbred (EC) goats. This study used sixteen EC with an average weight of 32.25 ± 3.31 kg and aged 1.5–2.5 years. Experimental goats were fed diets with different CAL extracts: P0, 0% (control); P1, 2% powdered CAL; P2, 2% ethanol-extracted CAL; and P3, 2% water-extracted CAL. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with four replication blocks. All variables were statistically analyzed with ANOVA and significances were followed by Duncan’s test. P3 treatment significantly (p<0.05) increased milk yield and milk quality in comparison with control. Unlike the other treatments, P3 treatment was water-extracted CAL that could affect these variables. P3 treatment showed the best result among the four treatments. In conclusion, P3 treatment, the supplementation of 2% water-extracted CAL within the ration, could improve the milk yield up to 30.24% in comparison with the control ration and also improve milk composition, such as milk protein (4.47%), milk casein (3.99%), milk fat (3.85%), and solid nonfat (SNF) (6.53%). The supplementation of water-extracted CAL within ration could improve the milk yield and milk quality of EC.

Abstract

This study aims to control the gastrointestinal helminth parasite of Peranakan Etawa  (PE) goats through the use of herb and feed supplements.  A total of 20 PE goats with an average body weight of 19.74 ± 4.21 kg were divided into 4 groups. This study used a Completely Randomized Block Design consisting of 4 groups and 4 treatments. The treatment given to goats was P0: without Urea Molasses Mineral Block (UMMB) supplements and anthelmintic, P1: UMMB 100 g (1 day), P2: Albendazole (1 day), P3: UMMB 100 g + Curcuma xanthorrhiza (3 days), P4: UMMB 100 g + Curcuma xanthorrhiza (7 days).  The data collected were prevalence, type of gastrointestinal parasites, and egg count per gram (EPG) of feces. Examination of EPG using the Floatation method.  The results of the study obtained the prevalence of helminth parasites 100%.  The types of helminth parasites found are Strongyloides, Haemonchus,  Bunostomus,  Dicrocoelium,  Avitellina, and Oesophagustomum.  The EPG reduction in UMMB and UMMB+Curcuma xanthorrhiza treatment (3 days) was the highest at around 64.88%.  It was concluded that all goats were infested with helminth parasites with a mild level of infestation (epg < 100).   The types of helminth parasites found are Strongyloides, Haemonchus, Bunostomus, Dicrocoelium, Avitellina, and Oesophagustomum.  The use of feed supplements and herbs can reduce helminth parasites infections in PE goats

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui lama waktu fermentasi dan karakteristik degradasi komponen serat jerami jagung fermentasi secara In sacco. Fermentasi jerami jagung secara padat menggunakan Trichoderma harzianum sebagai stater. Sebanyak 2,5 gram urea, 2,5 gram molases, 2,5 ml sediaan Trichoderma harzianum dicampur dengan air menjadi 20 ml yang kemudian disemprotkan pada 1000 gram jerami jagung segar. Selanjutnya jerami jagung dimasukkan ke dalam toples plastik dan diperam sesuai dengan perlakuan yaitu 4, 8, 12 dan 16 hari. Uji karakteristik degradasi jerami jagung fermentasi dilakukan dengan metode In sacco atau nylon bag technique. Sebanyak 6 gram sampel jerami dimasukkan ke dalam kantong nylon dengan ukuran 140, 80 mm diinkubasi ke dalam rumen sapi dengan interval waktu 6, 12, 24, 48 dan 72. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan perlakuan 4 lama fermentasi dan ulangan 3 untuk tiap perlakuan. Peubah yang diukur adalah karakteristik degradasi meliputi : Nilai fraksi a, nilai fraksi b dan nilai fraksi c dari NDF, ADF dan Hemiselulosa Jerami jagung fermentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa lama fermentasi berpengaruh nyata terhadap nilai fraksi (a) dan nilai fraksi (b) dari NDF, nilai fraksi (c) dari ADF dan Hemiselulosa, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata pada fraksi (a) dan fraksi (b) dari ADF, fraksi (a) dan fraksi (b) dari hemiselulosa, fraksi (c) dari NDF jerami jagung fermentasi. Kesimpulan: Fermentasi jerami jagung dengan Trichoderma harzianum dapat meningkatkan nilai fraksi (a) dari NDF, ADF dan laju degradasi NDF ADF dan Hemiselulosa. Lama fermentasi yang terbaik pada jerami jagung fermentasi diperoleh pada perlakuan 16 hari.

Abstract

The productivity of Etawah crossbreed goats in producing milk and meat is not yet optimal. Milk production can be increased by providing zinc and probiotics. Zinc plays a role in helping the digestive process and increasing growth. Meanwhile, probiotics can increase digestibility and milk production. This research aims to determine the effect of providing the mineral zinc (Zn) and probiotics on the milk production of Etawah Crosbreed goats. This study used 12 first and second lactation Etawah crossbreed goats. A randomized block design was used with three treatments and four replications, namely P0 = control (70% forage + 30% concentrate), P1 = P0 + 2% probiotics, P2 = P1 + Zn 60 g/kg BW. The parameters observed were feed dry matter consumption, protein, fat and crude fiber, milk production, milk quality (specific gravity, protein, fat, lactose and dry matter). The research results showed that probiotics and Zn had no effect on consumption of diet dry matter, crude protein, diet fat (P.0.05). Probiotic and Zn treatment can increase milk production (P<0.05), where P2 is higher than P1 and P0 and P1 are higher than P0. However, it did not affect the quality of milk, namely protein, fat, lactose and dry matter of Etawah Crosbreed goats (P>0.05), except for the specific gravity of the milk. The research conclusion was that the provision of probiotics and Zn minerals did not affect feed consumption and milk quality, but increased milk production.

Abstract

Background: ORF disease is also called Contagious Ecthyma (CE), Contagious Pustular Dermatitis (CPD), Sore Mouth which is caused by viruses from the genus Parapoxvirus which attacks goats and sheep. Orf disease is very easily transmitted to goats and sheep, and is zoonotic. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using turmeric and Kandistatin® for the treatment of ORF disease at BBPTU-HPT Baturaden. Methods: This section should include a concise description of the process by which you conducted your research. Results: Based on the results of the anamnesis, physical examination and clinical symptoms of Saanen goats in cage G at the Balai Besar Pembibitan Ternak Unggul dan Hijauan Pakan Ternak (BBPTU-HPT) Baturraden, there are 3 goats infected with ORF disease with eartag numbers 1861, 1985, and 1986. Saanen goats is + 4 months old. Saanen goats that had ORF infections were treated using grated turmeric mixed with vegetable oil which was applied to the goat's lips and given 1 ml of Kandistatin® twice a day for 7 days, showing the healing process on the third day and the seventh day. The examination results showed healing. Conclusion: The use of turmeric mixed with vegetable oil and the administration of Kandistatin® can be used to treat ORF infections.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Pucuk tebu (Saccharum officinarum L) (PT) merupakan salah satu pakan alternatif yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber pakan bagi ternak ruminansia. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui degradasi in sacco komponen serat PT yang difermentasikan dengan beberapa level Trichoderma harzianum. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan, pengaruh perlakuan terhadap parameter yang diuji menggunakan analisis sidik ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji lanjut Duncan kalau ada perbedaan antar perlakuan. Pucuk tebu difermentasi dengan perlakuan Trichoderma harzianum dengan beberapa level yaitunya 0, 2, 4 dan 6% selama 1 minggu. Pucuk tebu hasil fermentasi digiling untuk dijadikan bubuk dengan ukuran saringan 2 mm kemudian dengan teknik in sacco diinkubasi ke dalam rumen sapi berfistula selama 72 jam. Peubah yang diukur adalah degradasi NDF, ADF dan hemiselulosa dari PT yang telah difermentasi sesuai dengan perlakuan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa level T. Harzianum berpengaruh tidak nyata (P 0.05) terhadap degradasi NDF dan ADF dari PT fermentasi tetapi berpengaruh sangat nyata (P 0.01) terhadap degradasi hemiselulosa. Kesimpulan penelitian adalah degradasi NDF, ADF dan hemiselulosa dari PT fermentasi terbaik dicapai pada perlakuan dengan menggunakan 4% T. harzianum dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya.(The fermentation of Saccharum officinarum L. shoot using Trichoderma harzianum: in sacco degradation of fiber component)ABSTRACT. Sugar can (Saccharum officinarum L) shoot (SCS) is one of an alternative feed that could be use as a source of feed for ruminant. The aim of this study was to reveal the in sacco degradation of SCS fermented with some level of Trichoderma harzianum. The design of this experiment was Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The statistical analysis used in this experiment was Analysis of Variance and followed by Duncan Tets. Sugar can shoot was fermented with T. harzianum in some levels of 0, 2, 4 dan 6% for one week. The fermented SCS was dried, grounded in 2 mm mash and kept store until incubated. To evaluate the in sacco degradation, fermented SCS was incubated for 72 h. Parameters measured were the degradation of NDF, ADF dan hemiselulosa of treated SCS. Results showed that the level of T. harzianum did not significantly (P 0.05) affect on the degradation of NDF and ADF but it siginficantly (P 0.01) affected on the degradation of hemiselulosa. It could be concluded that the level of 4 % of T. harzianum in fermenting SCS showed the best in sacco degradation of NDF, ADF dan hemiselulosa among all treatments.

Abstract

Corn straw has the potential as a ruminant feed, but is constrained by low crude protein so it must be combined with Indigofera zollingeriana legumes which have high crude protein. The addition of Indigofera zollingeriana at different levels is expected to increase the crude protein of corn straw silage (Zea mays) and is expected to produce good silage quality. This study aims to determine the physical quality of corn straw silage (Zea mays) and Indigofera zollingeriana in different proportions. The variables observed in this study were the percentage of shrinkage, pH value, percentage of moldy silage, fleigh value, and physical quality (color, aroma, and texture). This experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and each treatment was repeated 6 times, so there were 18 experimental units, namely P1 = 80% Corn straw + 15% Indigofera zollingeriana + 4% bran + 1% mineral mixture; P2 = 70% Corn straw + 25% Indigofera zollingeriana + 4% bran + 1% mineral mixture; P3 = 60% Corn straw + 35% Indigofera zollingeriana + 4% bran + 1% mineral mixture. The results of the analysis of variance test showed that corn straw silage (Zea mays) with a mixture of Indigofera zollingeriana had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the percentage of moldy silage, fleigh value, and physical quality (color, aroma, texture) but had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the percentage of shrinkage and pH of silage. Based on this study, it can be concluded that the best silage proportion was obtained in the P2 treatment with 70% corn straw + 25% Indigofera zollingeriana + 4% fine bran + 1% mineral mixture, resulting in good quality silage.
