Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mathematical communication skills through the application of the Discovery Learning learning model combined with Gallery Walk and the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach to class IX A students of SMPN 1 Madiun. The study was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method in two cycles, which included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection was carried out through observation and mathematical communication skills tests. The results of the study showed a significant increase in students' mathematical communication skills. The average score of students increased from 63.69 in the pre-cycle, to 75.72 in cycle I, and 86.75 in cycle II. The percentage of students who achieved the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) also increased, from 31.25% in the pre-cycle, to 59.38% in cycle I, and 84.38% in cycle II. Several obstacles, such as limited classroom space and the scope of integrated cultures, were successfully overcome by learning outside the classroom and expanding the cultural context. This study proves that the Discovery Learning learning model based on Gallery Walk with the CRT approach is effective in improving students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

The growing emphasis on Computational Thinking (CT) skills among elementary school teachers highlights its importance in improving learning quality in the digital era. Despite the extensive focus on CT applications for students, research on the role of teachers in developing CT skills remains limited. This study aims to analyze publication trends, researcher collaboration, and dominant keywords in CT-related research focusing on elementary school teachers from 2015 to 2024. A bibliometric analysis method was employed using data retrieved from Dimensions.ai, which was further analyzed with VOSviewer software. The analysis included mapping author collaboration networks, keyword co-occurrence, and inter-country relationships using bibliographic coupling techniques. The findings show a significant increase in CT-related publications among elementary school teachers, especially after 2018, with a peak in 2023. Key contributors such as Nasri, Hermita Neni, and Fendrik Muhammad emerged as central figures in advancing CT teaching resources. Keyword analysis revealed that discussions around teacher roles, CT skills, and challenges in implementation dominate the literature. Globally, the United States, Germany, and China are leading in CT research, while Indonesia has made substantial strides in international collaboration. These findings indicate an expanding interest in CT research among elementary school educators and highlight the critical need for more studies focusing on enhancing teachers' CT skills through professional training and resource development. This study provides valuable insights into the evolving landscape of CT-related research and its implications for improving teacher competencies in digital learning environments.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan kognitif mahasiswa dalam pemecahan masalah pada  mata kuliah matematika SMP berdasarkan kecerdasan logis-matematis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif jenis studi kasus. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester III Universitas PGRI Madiun. Teknik analisis datanya terdiri dari tiga alur yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan, serta teknik keabsahan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan kognitif dalam pemecahan masalah (1) mahasiswa dengan kecerdasan logis-matematis tinggi memiliki kemampuan mengingat, memahami, menerapkan, menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan mencipta dengan baik. (2) mahasiswa dengan kecerdasan logis-matematis sedang memiliki kemampuan mengingat, memahami, menerapkan, menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan mencipta dengan cukup baik (3) mahasiswa dengan kecerdasan logis-matematis kategori rendah memiliki kemampuan mengingat, memahami, menerapkan, menganalisis kurang baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar matematika pada materi eksponen di kelas X BD 1 SMKN 5 Madiun melalui penerapan problem based learning berbantuan liveworksheet. Adapun jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari dua siklus yaitu siklus I dan siklus II. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara, dan tes. Sementara metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah mixed-methods. Dari penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan diperoleh persentase ketuntasan belajar peserta didik pada siklus I sebesar 64% yang termasuk kriteria cukup. Lebih lanjut, pada siklus II persentase ketuntasan belajar peserta didik mencapai 79% yang termasuk ke dalam kriteria baik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran problem based learning berbantuan liveworksheet mampu meningkatkan prestasi belajar matematika peserta didik kelas X BD 1 SMKN 5 Madiun.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students' numeracy literacy skills by implementing the Problem-Based Learning model with the Teaching at The Right Level approach. The study was conducted in Class X DPIB 1 SMKN 1 Kota Madiun, Kartoharjo District. Thirty-six students participated in this study, with 30 males and six females as samples. In the 2023-2024 academic year, the research period took place from February to May, beginning the second semester. The study was conducted in two cycles, with four sessions, each meeting lasting 2 JP (2 x 45 minutes). Class X DPIB 1 students had an average numeracy literacy ability score of 55.50 in the Cycle 1 evaluation. This indicates that there is still considerable room for improvement. In addition, most students have not met the minimum required level of completeness, as seen from the percentage of classical completeness, which only reached 36.11% (13 students scored ≥ 75). Meanwhile, the analysis of the data from cycle 2 showed that there were no students in the inferior category, two students in the poor category, five in the pretty good category, twenty-two in the excellent category, and seven in the outstanding category. The implementation of cycle 2 showed a significant increase, where the average score of numeracy literacy skills of class X DPIB 1 students increased to 72.94, and the percentage of classical completion also increased to 58.33% (21 students scored ≥75). Students' numeracy literacy skills can be improved by combining the Problem-Based Learning model with the Teaching at The Right Level Approach.

Abstract

In basic mathematics learning, lecturers used an LCD projector and taught it classically so that learning becomes uninteresting. Consequently, students become less enthusiastic and less interested. In overcoming this, one of the ways is to make Powtoon-assisted material and it will be even more interesting if the material is presented using the web. By utilizing the web, the material can be accessed anytime and anywhere. This development research employed a 4D development model up to the third stage, namely define, design, and develop. Research subjects were divided into 2 types namely, limited trial subjects and field trial subjects. The research instruments used were learning media validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and tests. The results of this study are (1) the developed learning media obtained the validity criteria of 82.00%. (2) The developed learning media obtained the practical aspects of 82.22% and for the field trials of 82.50% (3). The developed learning media obtained the effectiveness criteria in the limited trial of 83.33% and the field trial of 87.50%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the learning media developed by researchers are appropriate for use in learning.

Abstract

Background: This community service activity aims to introduce the Energy Teaching Kit to science teachers in schools. Through this program, teachers will be given training and assistance in using the tool so that they can integrate it into the learning process effectively. Awareness of the importance of renewable energy is increasing, especially amidst the challenges of climate change and dependence on fossil fuels. Method: The implementation methods used in community service include; initial observation and problem identification, design of learning media, review, creation of learning media and modules, socialization of learning media, practice of using learning media and assistance and evaluation. Results: The Energy Teaching Kit service was carried out at SDN 03 Kanigoro, Madiun City as a way to overcome various problems regarding renewable energy learning in accordance with the applicable Merdeka Curriculum. The energy kit is very helpful for teachers in explaining the concept of renewable energy and its application in everyday life to students. From this learning media, it can improve students' understanding and motivation, sharpen critical thinking and train them to work in a team

Abstract

The low level of students’ mathematical literacy in Indonesia, as indicated by the results of the Minimum Competency Assessment and various previous studies, highlights the need to improve the instructional models used in schools. This study examines the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of developing Information Literacy-Based Inquiry Learning. The development model used in this study is adapted from Plomp which consists of five phases: (1) the preliminary investigation phase, (2) the design phase, (3) the realization/construction phase, (4) the testing, evaluation, and revision phase, and (5) the implementation phase. The subjects in this study were 63 grade X high school students in Madiun district. Data collection techniques used in this study were validation sheets, response questionnaires, and students' mathematical literacy tests. The average score from the teaching module validation was 3.86, categorized as good, and all validators confirmed that the developed mathematical literacy test instrument was valid. In the trial, the average score from the student response questionnaire was 4.02, which was also in the good category. The average student's mathematical literacy score in this trial was 79.5. Therefore, it can be concluded that the development of the model is valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth overview of trends in Computational Thinking (CT) learning among elementary school students through bibliometric analysis. The development of CT skills, which include logical thinking, systematic problem-solving, decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithmic design, is essential to prepare students for navigating a technology-driven future. By encouraging CT in primary education, students better understand technology and versatile skills that can be applied in various fields. This study uses a bibliometric approach by systematically collecting and analyzing scientific articles on CT in elementary schools. The analysis used specific metrics, including publication trends, citation analysis, and identifying leading research areas. Data is drawn from leading academic databases and analyzed to track the progress and impact of CT research over time. The results show a significant increase in publications and citations on CT, which peaked in 2021. The main trend highlights the importance of visual programming tools like Scratch in improving students' understanding of programming concepts, logic, and motivation. The study also uncovered research gaps and suggested areas that need further investigation, particularly in developing CT curricula and more effective teaching methodologies. These findings are expected to significantly contribute to advancing CT education and help equip the younger generation with the skills needed.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui profil pemahaman mahasiswa semester III dengan kecerdasan linguistik, matematis logis dan visual dalam memecahkan masalah Matematika SMP. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif. Subyek penelitian terdiri dari tiga mahasiswa yang masing-masing memiliki jenis inteligensi linguistik, matematis logis, dan visual yang dominan. Teknik pengumpulan data berdasarkan hasil tes dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Teknik keabsahan data yang digunakan adalah triagulasi teknik. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) Mahasiswa linguistik memenuhi 3 indikator pemahaman yaitu menerjemahkan, menafsirkan dan mengekstrapolasi dengan menerapkan pemecahan masalah secara berurutan dimulai dari memahami masalah, merencanakan pemecahan masalah, melaksanakan rencana dan memeriksa kembali, namun cenderung dalam memahami masalah. (2) Mahasiswa matematis logis memenuhi 3 indikator pemahaman yaitu menerjemahkan, menafsirkan dan mengekstrapolasi dengan menerapkan pemecahan masalah secara berurutan dimulai dari memahami masalah, merencanakan pemecahan masalah, melaksanakan rencana dan memeriksa kembali, namun cenderung dalam merencanakan pemecahan masalah. (3) Mahasiswa visual memenuhi 3 indikator pemahaman yaitu menerjemahkan, menafsirkan dan mengekstrapolasi dengan menerapkan konsep pemecahan masalah secara berurutan dimulai dari memahami masalah, merencanakan pemecahan masalah, melaksanakan rencana dan memeriksa kembali, namun cenderung pada memahami masalah dengan menggunakan sketsa atau gambar.
