Abstract

The determination of water quality status was needed as a reference to monitor water pollution. The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate in Depapre waters, Jayapura Regency. Sampling was carried out in October 2017 across five research stations, then the results were compared with water quality standards based on KEPMEN-LH No. 51 Tahun 2004 for marine biotas. Based on the analysis of water quality in Depapre waters obtained the following results are the ammonia content ranges from 0.8 to 11.6 mg/L, the content of nitrate ranged from 0.009 to 0.54 mg/L, and the phosphate content ranged from 0.016 to 1.19 mg/L. These results indicate that the ammonia, nitrate and phosphate concentration in Depapre Waters have exceeded the water quality standard. The concentration of ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate is high enough and endanger the lives of marine biotas.

Abstract

Promoting fungi as food is necessary, especially for the community in Papua. Papua has abundant natural resources, including fungi diversity that can be consumed. Cultivation and propagation of mushrooms is not yet known because of limited knowledge. The purpose of this activity is to provide learning for the community about the cultivation and processing of various white oyster fungi products (Pleurotus ostreatus) for the Isyo Hills ecotourism group in the Rhepang Muaif Village, Nimbokrang District, Jayapura Regency. The results of the activity showed that there was an increase in public knowledge in the use of white oyster fungi in the cultivation and processing of foodstuffs from fungi. As much as 95.5% of people have heard and seen the fungi consumed by the community, even 9.1% have consumed fungi which are sold in modern stores (supermarkets). Nevertheless, 100% of the people do not know how to cultivate fungi, including P. ostreatus. In fact, of the 12 fungi processing participants were known to be able to create a variety of food ingredients which are made from white oyster fungi. Keywords: food ingredients, cultivation, Oyster fungi, utilization, Rhepang Muaif

Abstract

Character education is now indeed a major issue of education, apart from being part of the process of forming the nation's children's morals, character education is also expected to be the main foundation in the success of Indonesia Gold 2025. Character education can be given early in early childhood through the media of fairy tales. The importance of fairy tales for early childhood is not only an activity to put children to sleep but can also improve the development of the child's right brain, psychology, emotional intelligence, noble character, and increase imagination in early childhood. Telling fairy tales to children is an important part of parenting. Besides being useful for psychological development, it also makes children feel loved and cared for by their parents. So that it does not cause moral degradation amid the rapid development of technology today. Through fairy tales as a medium for character education in early childhood, children will be able to learn about the world, life, themselves, and others. Keywords:  Character education, psychology, emotional intelligence, Jayapura

Abstract

A Slogan says that reading is the world’s window. This expression means that through reading someone is able to see and follow the world’s development, including knowledge. Unfortunately, Indonesian reading habit is still low, especially children’s. This also happens in Yalimo Regency, Papua. As relatively new regency, literacy in the area needs to be improved. This community service initiated various literacy activities to motivate children’s literacy: reading, writing, and numeracy. Contextual approach by adopting environment and socio-cultre is used. This community service was conducted for a month on August 2019 in two districts, namely District Elelim and District Abenaho. The result showed that the contextual approach used in learning process drove the children to be more enthusiastic in learning reading, writing and numeracy. Hopefully, this kind activity will be continued by the stakeholders, literacy tutors, and parents to improve literacy in Yalimo Regency. Keywords: contextual literacy, Elelim, Abenahoi,  Yalimo Regency.

Abstract

Monitoring shoreline changes is important in detecting abrasion and accretion in coastal areas. This study aimed to determine the level of shoreline change caused by abrasion and accretion and estimate the change rate. The study area covers coastal areas in ten Districts in Biak Numfor Regency (only on Biak Island). Six Landsat image datasets (1997, 2002, 2007, 2013, 2018, and 2022) were used to determine the coastline. Shoreline changes were analysed using DSAS software. The results of digitising the shoreline show a change in the length of the shoreline during the six data periods. Based on NSM and EPR for the last ten years (2013-2022), the average shoreline changes due to abrasion range from -6.65 to -13.16 m with an abrasion rate of -0.76 to -1.50 m/year. Meanwhile, the average shoreline changes due to accretion ranged from 4.64 to 8.45 m with an accretion rate of 0.53 m/year to 0.96 m/year. Changes in shoreline based on the rate of abrasion and accretion vary greatly in each district along the coastal area of Biak Numfor Regency, depending on the EPR value of each transect. Spatially, high abrasion and very high abrasion are widely distributed in Oridek, Biak Utara, Swandiwe, and Warsa Districts. Medium and high accretion were found in Yawosi, Bindifuar, and Oridek Districts. Because there has been a change in the coastline due to abrasion, planning efforts to mitigate coastal areas are very necessary.
