Abstract

Production of sweet corn in Indonesia has decreased accompanied by increased consumer demand, the reason being the lack of availability of superior seeds and weed disturbances. The use of mulch and varieties can increase crop production. This study aims to determine the growth and yield of sweet corn with different types of mulch and varieties. This study used a randomized block design with two factors, the first factor was the type of mulch (M) and the second factor was the variety (V). M0 : without mulch, M1 : rice straw mulch, M2 : silver black plastic mulch, V1 : Master Sweet, V2 : Bonanza, M3 : Sweet Boy. These factors were combined into 9 treatments and repeated 3 times resulting in 27 experimental units. Data analysis used a 5% significant level of variance and then tested further with Duncan's Multiple Range Test at a 5% significant level and correlation test. The results showed that there were significant differences in the interaction between mulch types and varieties on stem diameter at 4, 6, and 8 weeks after planting. Fresh weight of cobs without corn kernels per plant, estimated per plot and per hectare. Meanwhile, the variables of plant height, number of leaves, cob length, cob diameter, number of seed rows, and brix showed no significant interaction.

Abstract

Most of the sugarcane farmers in Gintungan village have not implemented cultivation perfectly. The use of sugarcane seeds is generally taken from the previous cultivation of sugarcane plants and uses a 2-3 bud mule system so that more seeds are needed and the results obtained are classified as very low. Mule seedlings with 3-4 buds usually cannot grow 100% because the position of the buds is not parallel so that there are shoots that are facing the ground and cannot grow properly. Sugarcane cultivation technology that is not yet known by farmers is the use of sugarcane seeds from a single bud mule. Utilization of sugarcane seeds with one bud is considered a very effective and efficient alternative for farmers. By using this type of seed, the need for seeds for sugarcane cultivation is getting less and less.

Abstract

Kedelai edamame (Glycine max (L.) Merril) satu spesies dengan kacang kedelai namun edamame memiliki ukuran lebih besar, rasa lebih manis, teksturnya lebih lembut dibanding kedelai kuning. Kandungan protein lebih tinggi dan lengkap 36% dibanding kedelai lain. Impor kedelai edamame tahun 2018-2019 mengalami peningkatan. Impor kedelai edamame tahun 2018 sebesar 2.585.809 kg dan tahun 2019 sebesar 2.670.086 kg. Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas hasil kedelai edamame sehingga mampu memenuhi kebutuhan dalam negri. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan Balai Penyuluhan Pertanian Kebomas yang beralamat di Jl. Dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo No. 245, Kembangan, Kec. Kebomas, Kabupaten Gresik, Jawa Timur 61124 pada bulan July - September 2024. Rancangan percobaan digunakan RAK Faktorial. Faktor pertama dosis pupuk kandang kambing (P) yaitu P0 (tanpa pupuk), P5 (5 ton.haˉ¹), dan P10 (10 ton.haˉ¹). Faktor kedua yaitu jenis media tanam (M) yaitu M1 (Tanah Grumusol), M2 (Tanah Grumusol + Sekam Padi), M3 (Tanah Grumusol + Cocopeat). Setiap perlakuan diulang hingga tiga kali sehingga terdapat 27 petak percobaan. Variabel yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman (cm), jumlah daun (helai), jumlah cabang (cabang), luas daun (cm2), bobot basah brangkasan (g), bobot kering brangkasan (g), jumlah polong (polong), bobot basah polong (g), bobot kering polong (g), bobot basah akar (g), bobot kering akar (g) dan bobot 100 butir (g). Analisis data digunakan yaitu ANOVA dengan uji F0,05 . Jika terdapat perbedaan nyata perlakuan maka dilanjutkan dengan DMRT0,05, uji korelasi dan uji orthogonal polinomial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat interaksi nyata perlakuan dosis pupuk kandang kambing (P) dan jenis media tanam (M) pada variabel tinggi tanaman (cm), jumlah cabang (cabang) dan bobot kering brangkasan (g). Orthogonal polinomial pada komponen hasil menunjukkan penggunaan pupuk kandang kambing pada variabel bobot basah brangkaan 1,9 ton.haˉ¹, bobot kering brangkasan 2,03 ton.haˉ¹, jumlah polong 1,9 ton.haˉ¹, bobot basah akar 1,94 ton.haˉ¹, bobot kering akar 1,25 ton.haˉ¹, dan bobot 100 butir 2,35 ton.haˉ¹.

Abstract

Kedelai Edamame (Glycine max (L.) Merrill.) merupakan tanaman asli daratan Cina dan telah dibudidayakan sejak 2500 SM. Sejalan dengan semakin berkembangnya perdagangan antar negara yang terjadi pada awal abad ke-19, menyebabkan tanaman edamame juga ikut tersebar ke berbagai negara tujuan perdagangan tersebut, yaitu Jepang, Korea, Indonesia, India, Australia, dan Amerika. Dalam pengelolaan usaha pertanian, ada beberapa faktor yang menunjang keberhasilan dalam meningkatkan produksi yaitu tanah, iklim, tanaman serta pengendalian hama dan penyakit maupun gulma. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hasil terbaik antara kombinasi perlakuan antara pupuk eco enyzme dan media tanam terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kedelai edamame. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan agustus sampai oktober 2024 di Desa Kedungrejo Kecamatan Modo Kabupaten Lamongan. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan dua faktor yaitu Eco enzyme (E) dengan 4 taraf perlakuan dan pemberian media tanam (M) dengan 3 taraf perlakuan. Faktor (E) dengan 4 taraf meliputi E0= 0ml/L, E1=20ml/L, E2=50ml/L, E3=80ml/L. faktor (M) dengan 3 taraf meliputi M1= tanah+arang sekam (1:1), M2 = tanah+serbuk kayu (1:1), M3= tanah, Kedua faktor tersebut dikombinasi 4x3 = 12 kombinasi perlakuan. Variabel pengamatan meliputi tinggi tanaman (cm), jumlah daun (helai), jumlah cabang (cabang/tan), bobot polong (g), bobot brangkasan (g), jumlah bintil akar (buah). Analisis data yang digunakan adalah anova, uji DMRT 15% dan uji korelasi.Hasil analisis sidik ragam variabel jumlah daun 2 MST dan 8 MST, jumlah cabang umur 4 MST, 6 MST dan bobot polong menunjukan adanya interaksi nyata antara pemberian dosis pupuk eco enzyme dan media tanam dimana kombinasi pemberian terbaik E2M1. Perlakuan tunggal dosis pupuk eco enzyme menunujukan perbedaan nyata pada variabel tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah cabang, bobot polong, bobot brangkasan dan jumlah bintil akar perlakuan terbaik yaitu E2, perlakuan tunggal jenis media tanam menunjukan adanya perbedaan nyata variabel bobot polong dan jumlah cabang perlakuan terbaik M1.

Abstract

Mentimun (Cucumis sativus L.) adalah salah satu jenis komoditas hortikultura yang digolongkan sebagai sayuran buah yang banyak dikonsumsi masyarakat karena merupakan sumber gizi, vitamin dan mineral yang dibutuhkan tubuh serta memiliki manfaat untuk menurunkan tekanan darah rendah. produksi mentimun di Indonesia sampai 471.941 ton ditahun 2021. Jumlah itu meningkat 6,95% darripada tahun 2020 yakni 441.286 ton. Sesuai data, produksi mentimun menurun ditahun 2011 sampai 2017. Dari 7 tahun itu, produksi mentimun turun 18,52% jadi sejumlah 424.917 ton. Tetapi produksi mentimun meningktat di 4 tahun terakhir dari tahun 2018 hingga 2021. Tetapi, jumlahnya belum seperti ditahun 2011. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas antara dosis pupuk guano dan NPK pada pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman mentimun baby. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas antara dosis pupuk guano dan NPK pada pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman mentimun baby. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Dadap Kuning Kecamatan Cerme, Kabupaten Gresik pada bulan Juli sampai dengan September 2024. Metode penelitian menggunakan RAK faktorial. Faktor pertama dosis pupuk guano (G) yang terdiri atas G0 (tanpa pupuk guano), G1 (Pupuk Guano 60 g/Polybag), dan G2 (Pupuk Guano 120 g/Polybag). Faktor kedua pupuk NPK (N) yang terdiri atas N0 (tanpa pupuk NPK), N1 (Pupuk NPK 6 g/Polybag), dan N2 (Pupuk NPK 9 g/Polybag). Kedua faktor tersebut dikombinasikan sehingga diperoleh 9 kombinasi perlakuan. Setiap perlakuan diulang 3 kali sehingga terdapat 27 petak percobaan. Variabel yang diamati panjang tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang, jumlah bunga, bobot buah, jumlah buah, dan diameter buah. Analisis data menggunakan anova 5 %, jika terdapat perbedaan nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji BNT 5% dan uji korelasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan nyata perlakuan interaksi terhadap variabel panjang tanaman, diameter batang, bobot buah, diameter buah, dan jumlah buah. Perlakuan tunggal pupuk guano menunjukkan hasil tidak berbeda nyata terhadap variabel pertumbuhan dan hasil. Perlakuan tunggal pupuk NPK menunjukkan hasil berbeda nyata terhadap variabel panjang tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang, jumlah bunga, bobot buah, diameter buah, dan jumlah buah.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the potentials and problems of home garden utilization, analyze extension and assistance strategies, and formulate policy recommendations for the development of the Sustainable Home Food Garden Program in supporting food self-sufficiency in Kedamean Sub-district, Gresik Regency. The methods used were participatory observation, in-depth interviews, group discussions, and document studies. The results showed that Kedamean Sub-district has extensive home garden potential but has not been optimally utilized. Participatory extension strategies and intensive assistance have proven effective in increasing the participation, knowledge, and skills of women farmer group members in home garden management. This program has a positive impact on food availability, consumption quality, household income, and strengthening social capital. Synergy between stakeholders is needed to optimize home gardens as a source of family food and income.

Abstract

The Bawean Island in Gresik Regency possesses significant potential in agriculture, yet it remains dominated by traditional crops like rice and maize. Recently, the Agricultural Extension Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) introduced a Demonstration Plotting (Demplot) program to promote tobacco cultivation as a new and economically promising commodity. This study aims to analyze the role of UPT in empowering farmers through the tobacco Demplot program and to identify the challenges and opportunities in introducing tobacco as a new commodity. A qualitative approach was used, incorporating field observations, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature review. The results highlight the pivotal role of UPT in providing technical training, production inputs, and strengthening farmer groups, which led to increased skills, productivity, and income. However, challenges such as limited technical knowledge and social acceptance remain. The program's success underscores the importance of participatory and comprehensive approaches in agricultural extension. This research provides strategic recommendations for sustainable agricultural diversification in Bawean.

Abstract

Chili is one of the horticulture crops with the highest commercial value. Farmers can cultivate chili in intercropping systems with water spinach plants as a land-saving alternative. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal chili planting distance and water spinach planting timing for increasing chili plant growth in chili-water spinach intercropping cultivation. A factorial randomized group design was adopted in this study. The first consideration was the spacing between the chili plants, which measure 50´70 cm and 50´50 cm, respectively. The second aspect was to plant water spinach at the same time as chili, one week after planting (1 WAP) chili, and 2 WAP chili. The findings indicate that optimum spacing and planting time for water spinach can improve the growth of chili plants. When chili plants were spaced 50´70 cm apart, their height and number of leaves increased dramatically. When compared to other treatments, the planting time of water spinach 1-2 WAP chili resulted in significantly higher plant height and number of leaves. All growth variables examined were significantly influenced by the interaction of 50´70 cm and water spinach planting time 2 weeks after chili planting. Abstract

This study aimed to examine the growth and yield of cabbage (Brassica rapa L.) plants grown in a hydroponic wick system using varying doses of AB Mix nutrients and Azolla liquid organic fertilizer (POC). POC Azolla is expected to serve as a replacement nutrient in hydroponics. In this study, a one-factorial group randomized design was used where P0: no POC Azolla nutrient and P1: AB Mix 100%; P2: POC Azolla 100%; P3: AB Mix 90% + POC Azolla 10%; P4: AB Mix 75% + POC Azolla 25%; P5: AB Mix 60% + POC Azolla 40%; P6: AB Mix 45% + POC Azolla 55%; P7: AB Blend 30% + POC Azolla 70%; P8 : AB Mix 15% + POC Azolla 85%. Three replicates of each treatment were performed. Annova was used for data analysis: Duncan's distance test should be performed at a significant level of 5% if a difference is found. The average growth variables of plant height (16.5 cm), number of leaves (18 strands), root length (18.33 cm), fresh plant weight (81.17 g) and dry plant weight (4.42 g) showed the same trend in the combination (AB Mix 75% + POC Azzola 25%), suggesting that this combination could be an alternative to the AB Mix 100% treatment.  The hydroponic cultivation of the wick system on Pakcoy plants has not been able to prove the use of POC Azzola alone. The use of POC Azzola is at least able to reduce the use of AB Mix by 25%.
