Abstract

Currently, the incidence of theft crimes by breaking into house doors is increasing. The importance of a security system is to prevent unknown parties from stealing or violating privacy without the owner's consent. Biometric technology can create a strong security system, by utilizing the biological characteristics that every human has, such as fingerprints, facial detection, eye retina and voice. One of the biometrics that is considered strong when building a security system is facial recognition. This research uses the Haar Cascade Classifier algorithm supported by OpenCV to increase the accuracy of facial identification based on facial structure and eye feature extraction. The training and testing process is carried out directly (real time) using the OV2640 camera and dataset. The designed prototype consists of an ESP32 CAM microcontroller, relay, and door lock solenoid which is integrated with telegram as notification. Based on the test results, it shows that the accuracy of matching facial images using the Haar Cascade Classifier algorithm which matches the database is 80%. Apart from that, the results of testing the distance of the face to the camera, variations in light, position and facial expressions that can be recognized with the ESP32 CAM camera greatly influence the face detection process. In this case, the effective distance is 25-55 cm in light conditions with a light intensity of 83-450 lux, and the face is facing forward. Apart from that, the system is also able to differentiate between human face objects and non-human face objects. The tool's performance from detection to sending unrecognized image data to Telegram took an average of 6.4 ms. From the test results, it is also known that the perfection of facial appearance that can be recognized with the ESP32 CAM camera has a great influence on the face detection proce

Abstract

This study explores teachers’ perceptions on the use of Interactive Multimedia Learning Objects (IMLO) in enhancing reading interest among mentally impaired students. In the current era of digital transformation, IMLOs have emerged as an innovative solution to support inclusive education. IMLOs combine text, audio, visuals, and interactivity, which can significantly increase motivation and engagement, particularly for students with cognitive limitations. Despite the growing body of literature on IMLOs in special education, research focused on mentally impaired students, especially within the Indonesian context, remains limited. The study adopts a qualitative descriptive method to gain in-depth insights into teachers' experiences. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with two English teachers from SLB Al Qasmi Watampone, supported by documentation such as classroom photos and videos. Thematic analysis revealed two major categories of perception: positive and negative. On the positive side, teachers observed increased student enthusiasm, longer attention spans, and more independent exploration of materials when using IMLO. They also acknowledged that IMLOs support varied, enjoyable, and effective learning experiences by utilizing platforms like YouTube, Wordwall, and Duolingo. IMLOs were considered helpful instructional tools that ease the teaching process and adapt well to students’ needs. However, negative perceptions emerged due to limited infrastructure such as the lack of adequate computers, the need for constant supervision to avoid exposure to inappropriate content, and behavioral management challenges. Students often imitate content without fully understanding it, highlighting the need for teacher-guided learning alongside IMLO use. This study concludes that while teachers generally hold positive views of IMLOs, maximizing their benefits requires sufficient technological support, supervision strategies, and structured literacy approaches. The findings offer practical implications for improving digital resource implementation in inclusive classrooms.

Abstract

Language on social media reflected the identity and characteristics of its users, including differences in language style between generations. Millennials and Generation Z were two dominant demographic groups in digital communication that exhibited linguistic variations, which often caused gaps in understanding during online interactions. Variations in language structure and expression posed challenges in understanding the context of cross-generational communication. Therefore, this study aimed to classify linguistic styles across generations in social media texts by combining Sentence-BERT (SBERT). FastText-based synonym augmentation in Indonesian, and Support Vector Machine (SVM) as a margin-based classification model that utilizes embedding representations from SBERT. The results showed that synonym augmentation improved model accuracy from 85% to 93%, with a similarity threshold of 0.7 providing the best balance between data diversity and semantic consistency. These findings confirmed that synonym-based augmentation and SBERT semantic adaptation were effective in capturing generational linguistic differences in informal Indonesian. This approach had the potential to be applied in other NLP tasks that required contextual understanding of social language variation, such as sentiment analysis and cross-generational dialect detection.
