Abstract

The study aimed to determine the integration of religion and mathematics education within the context of the Grand Mosque of West Sumatra, with a specific focus on its potential impact on mathematics learning. The study was undertaken at the Grand Mosque of West Sumatra. The research methodology employed in this study is descriptive qualitative research utilising an ethnographic approach. Data gathering methods include literature review, direct observation, documentation analysis, and conducting interviews. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The findings of this study indicate that the Grand Mosque serves as a multifaceted institution encompassing several functions such as a place of worship, a platform for preaching, an educational hub, a centre for character development, a catalyst for moral and social advancement, a hub for economic empowerment, and a destination for religious tourism. The Grand Mosque serves as a conducive environment for the acquisition of mathematical knowledge due to the presence of several mathematical principles embedded within the worship activities, as well as within the physical structure and courtyard of the Mosque. The Grand Mosque incorporates mathematical ideas such as multipli-cation, parallel lines, straight lines, curves, triangles, rhombuses, rectangles, trapezoids, congruence, and social arithmetic. According to the data above, it can be inferred that the West Sumatra Grand Mosque serves as a venue for religious and mathematical education. Consequently, this establishment holds potential as a resource for students to acquire knowledge in religious studies and develop a comprehensive understanding of mathematical principles.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal the ability of Islamic elementary school students in solving HOTS-based math problems based on students' mathematical abilities. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The research was conducted on grade VI students of SDI Ibnu Syam. Students' mathematical ability is measured by giving tests in the form of questions related to building space material, and students' ability to solve HOTS questions. The results of this study are that students with high, medium and low mathematical abilities have difficulty and have not been able to solve HOTS problems. This is due to the lack of habituation in working on HOTS level problems which makes students not accustomed to thinking at a high level in solving HOTS problems.

Abstract

This research background is found problems in class VII MTs N 2 Bukittinggi such as learning process student difficult finished math problems, fighting power in solving math problems is low, and students math problem solving ability is low too. This research goals is describe the thinking process of quitter students in solving math problems at class VII MTsN 2 Bukittinggi with Ploya’s  steps, namely: understand the problem, devise a resolution plan, solve the problem according to the plan, and look back the result obtained. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative with 2 subject quitter students, selected by Adversity Quotient questionnaire and purposive sampling. Data collection using mathematical problem solving test techniques and interviews based on mathematical problem solving on comparison lesson. The validity of the data is checked by Miles & Huberman such as: data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results show that: (1) Thinking process of quitter student in understanding the problem is an assimilation thinking process. (2) Thinking process of quitter student in devising a problem-solving plan is an imperfect accommodation thinking process. (3) Thinking process of quitter student in carrying out the plan is an assimilation thinking process. (4) In looking back the result have been obtained there is nothing thinking process.

Abstract

This research is motivated by lack of interest in student’s learning in mathematics and the lack of uses of varied learning media by the teacher. Based on these problems, researchers are interested in examining the effect of using the Kahoot quiz game media on student’s learning interest in mathematics in classs XI IPS SMA N 2 Pasaman. This type of research ia an expeerimental research with one group pretest-posttest research design. From the total population of 4 classes consisting of 120 students, a sample was taken of 1 class consisting of 30 students from class XI IPS 2 SMA N 2 Pasaman. Sampling using random sampling technique. The instrument used is a questionnaire of student’s interest in learning mathematics. The research data is the form of pretest data and posttest data. Based on the result of data analysis it was obtained that tcount = 2,569 > ttable = 1,699 wich resulted in rejection of H0. After calculating using the SPSS application was obtained significance value of <0,05 wich caused rejection of H0. So there is influence of the Kahoot quiz game media on student’s learning interest in mathematics in class XI IPS SMAN N 2 Pasaman.

Abstract

Educational institutions play a critical role in fostering religious moderation, aiming to cultivate future generations with balanced attitudes and thoughts. This study investigates the understanding and awareness of religious moderation among students at MAN 4 Aceh Besar and explores the programs designed to strengthen this concept. Additionally, it examines the factors that support or hinder the success of these programs. A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating qualitative and quantitative techniques. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and scales. Quantitative data analysis determined the level of student understanding, while qualitative methods provided insights into program implementation and influencing factors. Findings reveal that students at MAN 4 Aceh Besar demonstrate an 80.8% understanding and awareness of religious moderation, categorizing the institution as successful in supporting its objectives. Religious moderation programs are integrated into both teaching materials and extracurricular activities, ensuring a holistic approach. Supporting factors for the program's success include moral and material backing from stakeholders. However, challenges arise from both internal and external influences, which may limit the program's effectiveness. The religious moderation program at MAN 4 Aceh Besar has effectively fostered student awareness and understanding, demonstrating the institution's commitment to cultivating moderate perspectives. Continuous support and strategic interventions are necessary to address the identified challenges and sustain progress.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi karena permasalahan yang ditemukan di Fase E SMA N 1 Banuhampu bahwa rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa berdasarkan penilaian dari sumatif tengah semester (STS). Berdasarkan persentase nilai kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa berdasarkan penilaian sumatif tengah semester, siswa dengan kategori rendah memiliki persentase sebesar 72%. Ini menunjukkan bahwa masih rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Salah satu alternatif pembelajaran yang diduga dapat mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah dengan menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Matematika Berorientasi Gaya kognitif dan Budaya (PMGB). Rumusan masalah dalam penelitianini adalah apakah terdapat Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Matematika Berorientasi Gaya kognitif dan Budaya (PMGB) terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Siswa Fase E SMA N 1 Banuhampu. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemecahan masalah Matematika siswa menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Matematika Berorientasi Gaya kognitif dan Budaya (PMGB) lebih baik dari pada pembelajaran konvensional siswa Fase E SMA N 1 Banuhampu. Jenis penelitian ini adalah dengan rancangan penelitian The Static Group Comparison Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa Fase E SMA N 1 Banuhampu. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik Random Sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa E.6 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa E.4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Data kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa diperoleh dari tes akhir (post-test). Berdasarkan analisis data kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika dengan menggunakan uji-t dan Sofware Minitab taraf nyata α = 0,05, diperoleh harga thitung > ttabel yaitu 3,12 > 1,66 dan P-value = 0,001.Sehingga ditolak dan diterima. Sehingga diterima yaitu kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa yang mengikuti Model Pembelajaran Matematika Berorientasi Gaya kognitif dan Budaya (PMGB lebih baik daripada kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional di Fase E SMA N 1 Banuhampu. Dikarenakan ditolak dan diterima dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Matematika Berorientasi Gaya kognitif dan Budaya (PMGB) terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Siswa Fase E SMA N 1 Banuhampu

Abstract

Micro teaching is a compulsory course that must be taken by prospective mathematics teacher students of UIN Bukittinggi. Micro teaching courses train the basic teaching skills of prospective mathematics teachers. One of the lessons that is trained to prospective mathematics teacher students is Islamic integration mathematics learning. The purpose of this study is to describe the perspectives of prospective mathematics teacher students on Islamic integration mathematics teaching that students have practised. This research is a descriptive study with the research subjects are UIN Bukittinggi students who take micro teaching in the sixth semester totalling eleven students. Data were collected using a questionnaire that uses a 1-4 scale. The analysis was carried out using the average formula and then matched against the assessment criteria table. The results of this study are prospective mathematics teacher students have a very good perspective on Islamic integration mathematics learning that has been trained. Islamic integrated mathematics learning is very good in motivating and useful, new learning, interesting, challenging, useful, makes it easier for students to understand mathematical concepts and can add insight to students related to Islamic knowledge.

Abstract

This paper is intended to analyze the presence of Islamic education in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0. The researchers used the Library Research in this paper. Data collection was carried out by reviewing and examining printed and electronic books, journals, and documents as data sources and other relevant information. Islamic education as an Islamic-based educational institution needs to take a range of steps and approaches to preserve its presence in the 4.0 period of the Industrial Revolution, so as not to fall into various competitions. Based on the analysis, there are several strategies that must be followed by Islamic education to sustain its existence, namely: designing innovative Islamic education, reforming and renewal Islamic education, enhancing capabilities in technology and literacy, and the concept of integration and interconnection of Islamic education

Abstract

Ethnomathematics research in Minangkabau is still dominated by studies of static cultural artifacts, while traditional children's games that are constructive and involve motor activities have not been widely researched. This study aims to identify mathematical concepts in the traditional game of “Pistol-pistolan”, which is made from banana leaves. The research used a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods and was conducted in Bukittinggicity, West Sumatra. Data were collected through participant observation, visual documentation, and semi-structured interviews with elementary school-aged children as players, lecturers and teachers of Minangkabau Natural Culture. The results of the study show that the structure of the pistol-pistolan contains geometric concepts in the form of right triangles and parallel lines, trigonometric concepts through the comparison of the sides of right triangles, and arithmetic concepts in the form of size patterns that form arithmetic sequences in the variations of the length of the handle, barrel, and barrel. These findings indicate that traditional games based on simple constructions can be used as a context for mathematics learning, particularly in geometry, trigonometry, and arithmetic.
