Abstract

This study aims to improve children's noble character behavior through the implementation of the Islamic storytelling method at TK IT Raudhatul Jannah Salam Buku, Merangin Regency. The study was grounded in the importance of developing religious values and moral conduct in early childhood, particularly greeting, polite speech, praying, sharing, waiting patiently, and saying sorry and thank you. This study employed classroom action research based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject in this draft involved 15 group B children. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The observation instrument consisted of six indicators of noble character behavior measured using four developmental categories: undeveloped, beginning to develop, developing as expected, and very well developed. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative percentages and qualitative field notes. The findings indicate that children's noble character behavior increased from 51.67% in the pre-cycle to 68.61% in cycle I and 83.89% in cycle II. The number of children who achieved the developing as expected and very well developed categories increased from 5 children (33.33%) in the pre-cycle to 9 children (60.00%) in cycle I and 13 children (86.67%) in cycle II. These findings suggest that Islamic storytelling combined with questioning, role modeling, habituation, picture/puppet media, and positive reinforcement can improve noble character behavior among early childhood learners.

Abstract

Social skills are essential in early childhood development because they support children's ability to cooperate, communicate, share, follow rules, regulate themselves, and show empathy toward peers. This study aimed to analyze the effect of group-based traditional games on children's social skills at TK Negeri 48 Bukit Makmur. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one group pretest-posttest design. The participants were 36 children divided into three learning groups, with 12 children in each group. The intervention consisted of group-based traditional games, including simplified gobak sodor, ular naga, team engklek, boy-boyan, mini bakiak, and group jump rope, implemented in eight sessions. The research instrument was a social skills observation sheet using a 1-4 rating scale covering cooperation, communication, sharing, rule compliance, self-control, and empathy. The results indicated that children's mean social skills score increased from 58.58 in the pretest to 80.62 in the posttest. The paired sample t-test showed t(35)=35.61 and p<0.001, with an N-Gain score of 0.54 in the medium category and Cohen's dz of 5.93. These findings suggest that group-based traditional games positively influence children's social skills. Group-based traditional games are recommended as a contextual, enjoyable, and effective play-based learning strategy to stimulate early childhood social development.

Abstract

This study aims to develop the creativity of children aged 5-6 years through drawing activities at Taman Kanak-Kanak Negeri Pembina 3 Rantau Panjang, Kecamatan Tabir, Kabupaten Merangin. Drawing activities are considered important as they can enhance creativity, fine motor skills, and self-expression in children. However, at Taman Kanak-Kanak Negeri Pembina 3 Rantau Panjang, drawing activities have not been fully developed, with many children struggling to express their ideas. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, combining triangulation data collection techniques: observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consist of 15 children selected using purposive sampling. The collected data were analyzed inductively to explore the implementation, barriers, and efforts to develop creativity through drawing activities. This study is expected to contribute to the development of art learning programs, especially drawing, in early childhood education institutions, as well as provide insights for teachers and parents in supporting children's creativity.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of Educational Game Tools (APE) using used bottle caps media and its impact on the cognitive development of early childhood at Taman Kanak-Kanak Kasang Pudak. The main problem underlying this research is the low concentration of children, lack of skills in ordering numbers, and high level of boredom in learning basic mathematics due to learning methods that tend to be abstract and monotonous. The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative with a case study method. The research subjects consisted of the Principal, classroom teachers, peer teachers, and 5 children of Group B at Taman Kanak-Kanak Kasang Pudak. Data collection techniques were carried out through participatory observation and structured interviews. Data analysis was carried out by examining observation sheet instruments and development records, while data validity was tested using source triangulation. The results showed that the utilization of Educational Game Tools (APE) from used bottle caps consistently proved to be highly effective in shifting children's boredom and providing optimal cognitive stimulation. Children's cognitive development experienced a significant increase, where they are now able to recognize numbers 1 to 10 in a fun way, become more focused, independent in completing tasks, and proficient in performing simple addition and subtraction operations through concrete object manipulation. In conclusion, habituation through concrete used goods learning media can effectively shape children's logical thinking from an early age.
