Abstract

The phenomenon of two phase flow can be foundin our nature, at the living bodyand industrial of the world. The flow of Fluid throughthe pipe bendshave a valuegreater than thepressure dropstraight pipeit’s was because the changes ingeometryandtrajectorythathave an impact onthe changeof flowpattern. This research aims to determine of theflowpatternandtwo-phase flowpressure dropthat occursthrough the 45° elbowfrom the horizontalto theverticalslopes upward. Diameter ofthepipe(D) 26.64mm, variationsthatdoaregasflow rate(Q ) (1 - 3) LPMandgasvolumefraction (β) (25 - 50) %. From theresults ofthis research we can concludedthat theflowpattern thatoccursisthe slug/plugflowwhere the greaterthe gasvolumefraction (β), the size of theslug/plugflowgreaterandinversely proportional to thepressure dropfurtherdown. Upheaval of two-phase flow patterns due to the influence of gravity occurs at the actual speed ratio of air and water (v ) at 1 LPM air 0.713 and 0.966 at 3 LPM air. The highestpressure dropoccurswiththe condition ofthe gasvolumefraction (β) of 50 %, actual speed ratio of air and water(v G /v L ) 0.764at107.415 Pa in theoretically and 214.616Paat experimentally.Keywords: 45 o elbow, flow pattern, pressure drop.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the droplet combustion characteristics of gasoline-ethanol fuel blended. The combustion characteristics included ignition delay time, burning lifetime, burning rate constant, flame height, flame temperature, and microexplosion. Testing was conducted using fuel blended with ethanol percentage of 0%(E0), 10%(E10), 20% (E20), 30% (E30) and 100% (E100). The fuel was dripped on the tip of the thermocouple junction and ignited using a torch of a butane-air mixture on a cylindrical burner. The results showed that the ignition delay time increase with the increase of ethanol percentage due to its high latent heat of evaporation and flash point temperature. However, flame temperature decrease with the increase of ethanol percentage due to the lower heat release rate of the mixture, related to the lower heating value of ethanol, and the burning rate constant of the fuels were not different significantly. The droplet diameter of the E100 (pure ethanol) decrease according to the d2?law, but the droplet diameters of the E0, E10, E20, and E30 changed drastically, exhibiting expansion and shrinkage. The Combustion of E20 fuel droplet has the highest burning rate constant, and flame height due to the oxygen content in ethanol can accelerate the combustion reaction and the fastest fuel droplet evaporates and diffuses into the air. Besides, the combustion of the E20 fuel droplet has the lowest burning lifetime due to the intensity of the microexplosion often makes the fuel droplet break into small droplets, which helps accelerate the process of evaporation and mixing of fuel with air, so that the combustion reaction occurs faster. Microexplosionphenomenon also identified due to the difference between the boiling point temperature gasoline and ethanol.

Abstract

Wind tunnels can be used to simulate supersonic and hypersonic flight conditions, but different wind tunnels can give different results for the same model and nominal flow conditions. Short duration wind tunnels gun tunnels rely on a transient compression process and are likely to generate significant turbulent fluctuations in the nozzle reservoir region. In the present study, a simulation to predict stagnation temperature fluctuation was conducted into transient wind tunnel gun tunnel by adopting a method of other worker. The friction velocity Reynolds numbers for the gun tunnel considered presently were Re  = 31,579. The RMS stagnation temperature fluctuations, when averaged over the pipe flow diameter, are estimated to be 15.3. The estimated RMS value in the case of the gun tunnel is significantly larger than the experimental value previously measured on the centre line of the gun tunnel nozzle of 2.3 K. The difference observed between the inferred and measured temperature fluctuations in the gun tunnel case may be related to spatial variations in the temperature fluctuations. The present approach for estimating the magnitude temperature fluctuations should be refined, but more detailed measurements of temperature fluctuations in such facilities are also required.Keywords: Temperature Fluctuations, Combustion, Gun Tunnel, Shock Tunnel

Abstract

AbstrakDesa Purwodadi merupakan desa yang memiliki wilayah pantai malang selatan. Pantai di desa ini menyuguhkan panorama alam yang indah disertai aktivitas nelayan dikampung nelayan. Akan tetapi, potensi yang ada belum optimal dikembangkan secara maksimal. Pantai ini cukup strategis karena berada di suatu wilayah segitiga emas yaitu kota Batu,wilayah Gunung Bromo, dan Wilayah Malang Selatan. Pengembangan wilayah ini diharapkan dapat menujang taraf ekonomi masyarakat disekitar wilayah segitiga emas dan mampu menunjang nama daerah. Program pengabdian ini menggunakan beberapa metode yaitu survei lokasi pengabdian, negosiasi mitra, penandatanganan nota kesepakatan kerjasama, pengurusan perizinan dengan pihak terkait, pelaksanaan program, dan evaluasi. Untuk langkah-langkah yang perlu dilakukan adalah 1) sosialisasi kepada masyarakat mengenai pentingnya agrowisata sehingga dapat menumbuhkan kesadaran masyarakat untuk berpartisipasi aktif dalam geliat wisata yang berbasis pada agro 2) Mengedukasi kelompok masyarakat tentang IPTEK 3) Mendampingi masyarakat dalam upaya untuk diversifikasi produk wisata berupa cinderamata dan kuliner. dari hasil kegiatan, disusun rencana pengembangan kuliner serta potensi lain yang dapat dikembangkan. Salah satu strategi yang digunakan untuk memperkenalkan serta mengangkat wisata kuliner dan wisata alam di wilayah ini dengan dibuatkannya brosur serta website. Selain itu, edukasi tentang pengelolaan website juga dilakukan kepada masyarakat untuk dapat mempromosikan wilayah ini sehingga dapat menciptakan ekonomi kerakyatan.Kata Kunci: Desa Purwodadi, Pantai Malang Selatan, Wisata Kuliner, Wisata Alam,Abstract Purwodadi village is a village that has the southern poor coastal area. The beach in this village presents a beautiful natural scenery accompanied by fishing activities dikampung fishermen. However, the potential is not optimally developed optimally. This beach is quite strategic because it is located in a golden triangle region of Batu, Mount Bromo region, and South Malang region. The development of this region is expected to support the economic level of the community around the golden triangle region and able to support the name of the region. This devotional program uses several methods, namely surveying the location of dedication, negotiating partners, signing a memorandum of cooperation agreement, licensing arrangements with related parties, program implementation, and evaluation. For the steps that need to be done is 1) socialization to the public about the importance of agro tourism so that it can raise public awareness to participate actively in agro-based tourism geliat 2) Educate community groups about science and technology 3) Accompany the community in an effort to diversify tourism products in the form of souvenirs and culinary. from the results of activities, culinary development plans are developed and other potentials that can be developed. One of the strategies used to introduce and elevate culinary and nature tourism in the region with the creation of brochures and websites. In addition, education on website management is also done to the community to be able to promote this region so as to create a populist economy. Abstract

Organic Sludge Biogas Unit (OSBGU) is a product that was generally less noticed by the owner. Filtering solids and liquids of OSBGU would be very helpful for feedstuffs and fertilizer plants. Giving aeration and silica in the fluid of OSBGU as long ripening treatment with 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 days was expected to transform the liquid into a better liquid fertilizer of OSBGU. The results showed that the effect of treatment, fermentation time and the interaction among them on the content of liquid OSBGU manure on pH, organic C, N total, C/N ratio, and organic matter was highly significant (P<0.01), except for total N did not have differences (P>0.05). The study concluded that the role of aeration and the addition of silica and long ripening and their interaction was very influential on the content of liquid OSBGU manure on pH, organic C, C/N ratio and organic ingredients, except the N total. The study suggested to use aeration and if necessary by adding silica and fermentation time until on day 7 to improve the content of liquid OSBGU manure.   Keywords: organic sludge biogas unit, pH, organic C, total N, C/N ratio, material organic, fermentation time

Abstract

Organic sludge biogas unit (OSBGU) is an organic product that is generally overlooked by the owner. Giving aeration and silica as treatment with longer curing 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 days for prospective OSBGU liquid fertilizer is expected to change the percentage of the nutrient content of liquid manure OSBGU candidates become better liquid fertilizer. The results showed that the effect of treatment, curing time and the interaction between the percentage of liquid manure nutrient content OSBGU on posphor (P), potassium (K), sodium (Na) and calcium (Ca) was significantly different. Conclusion: The role of aeration and the addition of silica as well as their interactions and their long ripening turns very significant effect on the percentage of the nutrient content of liquid fertilizer OSBGU. Suggestion: to make the aeration and the addition of silica to the fermentation time to increase the percentage of liquid manure nutrient content OSBGU should use aeration and if necessary by adding silica and brooded until on day 7

Abstract

The six-stroke combustion engine is a refinement of the four-stroke engine by adding 2 steps from the four-stroke combustion engine. The 2 steps in question are the second compression stroke and the second expansion stroke, so in one work cycle, there are 2 compressions and 2 combustions. The method used is a direct experimental research method by testing the intended object. Based on previous research, different fuels affect performance (torque, power, and fuel consumption). This study aims to obtain the performance value of Pertamax and Ethanol fuel in a six-stroke engine, the fuel used is Pertamax fuel with a purity of 100% and Ethanol with a purity of 99.7%. Based on the research, analysis, and discussion results, the performance of a six-stroke combustion engine with 2 combustions using Pertamax and Ethanol fuels concluded that the maximum torque using Pertamax fuel is 8.15 N.m at 7200 rpm engine speed. For comparison, Ethanol fuel is 6.59 N.m at 7200 rpm engine speed, the average torque of Pertamax fuel is 1.16% higher than Ethanol fuel. Maximum power for Pertamax fuel is 8.25 HP at 7200 rpm engine speed. For comparison, Ethanol fuel is 6.67 HP at 7200 rpm engine speed.

Abstract

Fiber metal laminates (FMLs) are widely used in various fields such as automotive and aerospace due to their high stiffness and strength-to-weight ratios. Moreover, they also have high fatigue resistance. In some applications such as aircraft structures, it is crucial to do dynamic analysis of the FMLs structure. FMLs compose of aluminium and fiberglass reinforced polymers (FRPs) are used in this study. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of shape mode and aspect ratio on the stress distribution of FML by using finite element analysis software. Ten initial mode shapes and the aspect ratio of 1:1.5, 1:2, and 1:2.5 are used as the environmental conditions of the FMLs. The results indicate that the mode shape will change the stress distribution and the maximum stress position. Besides, the results have shown that a wider FMLs plate will increase the maximum stress and deformation. The maximum to minimum stress distribution occurs on the outer aluminium surface, the inner aluminium surface, and the FRPs surface, respectively.

Abstract

The two steps in question are the second compression stroke and the second expansion stroke. The method used is an experimental research method. This study aims to obtain the performance value and exhaust gas emission values ​​for Pertamax and Ethanol fuels on a six-stroke engine. The fuel used is Pertamax fuel with a purity of 100% and Ethanol with a purity of 99.7%. Based on the results of research, analysis, and discussion, the performance of a six-stroke combustion engine with two cycles of ignition with Pertamax and Ethanol fuel is concluded that the average torque of Pertamax fuel is 1.07% higher than Ethanol fuel. The average adequacy of Pertamax fuel is 1.27% higher than Ethanol fuel. The combustion efficiency of the Pertamax fuel six-stroke motor is 1.06% less than ethanol fuel, the cycle work (Wnet) of the Pertamax fuel six-stroke engine is 1.07% higher than that of ethanol fuel, the thermal efficiency (ηth) of the Pertamax fuel six-stroke engine is comparable to that of ethanol fuel while the fuel efficiency (ηf) of the six-stroke ethanol fuel engine is 1.09% higher than the pertamax fuel. The exhaust gas emission test results for Pertamax fuel CO are 21.2% higher than ethanol fuel. CO2 emissions from Pertamax fuel are 1.56% less than ethanol fuel, and HC exhaust emissions from Pertamax fuels are 3.7% higher than ethanol fuels.

Abstract

Mortar is one type of weapon used by Infantry units. One type of mortar that is widely used, especially in technical training, is the 81 mm mortar prototype produced by PT. Pindad, which has a 7.62 mm caliber munitions thruster with an average range of 110 meters. However, this mortar still has unstable aerodynamics. Therefore, this study was conducted to design a safe mortar prototype with a stability margin value, so it can determine the range and improve the troop skills. Computational fluid dynamic simulation was conducted through the ANSYS software to simulate important aerodynamic properties in this study. The angle variation of the barrel in firing used is 450,550 and 650 with compression pressure variation of 16,18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32 bar. Meanwhile, the angle modification of the mortar fin is 330,440,550 and the aerodynamic simulation was carried out at 20, 30, 40 m/s speeds. The results showed that the design of an 81 mm mortar prototype which has a fin angle of 330 at a simulated speed of 20,30,40 m/s, an angle of attack of 450,550, 650 has the smallest drag force and lift force and the smallest number of postive pitch moments, but still has a standard margin of stability of about 1.57-1.81 caliber.
