Abstract

Breast milk stasis is a serious problem in the health sector, especially for postpartum mothers after giving birth. The factors causing breast milk stasis lie in the duration of breastfeeding frequency, improper breastfeeding techniques and stress fatigue. Treatment to reduce breast milk stasis can use non-pharmacological or cabbage leaf compresses for 20-30 minutes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of cabbage leaf compresses on breast milk stasis at TPMB Halimatus Syadiyah, Probolinggo City. The method used in this study was qualitative with a case study research design or case study on postpartum mothers who experienced breast milk leakage. The sampling technique used a purposive sampling area with 30 respondents. The research instrument is a questionnaire and data analysis using PES (Problem, Etiology, and Symptom). Based on the results of the study that has been conducted, data analysis obtained the results of 30 respondents 100% experiencing breast milk clotting which has causal factors such as 53% of respondents doing low breastfeeding frequency duration, breast conditions, 63% and 37% of respondents improper breastfeeding techniques, experiencing stress fatigue and symptoms of breast swelling 100% of respondents, breast pain in 50% of respondents, and 20% of respondents experiencing difficulty breastfeeding. Cabbage leaf compresses were given 3 times and for 20-30 minutes so that the effect of cabbage leaf compresses resulted in a decrease in symptoms in the breast as evidenced by the fact that 100% of respondents did not experience pain again, 53% of respondents experienced reduced breast swelling, and 47% of respondents experienced an increase in breastfeeding ability in babies. Therefore, the effectiveness of giving cabbage leaves can overcome the presence of breast milk blockages.

Abstract

Introduction: This study examined how mothers' understanding of long-acting contraceptives influenced their choices. The study highlighted that limited awareness often leads to low adoption rates. By examining the relationship between maternal knowledge and contraceptive choice, this study aims to identify ways to improve education and increase the use of effective long-term family planning methods among women. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design involving thirty new family planning acceptors. Data collection was done through a structured questionnaire, which allowed for a thorough understanding of the participants' perspectives. The data collected was analyzed using the Chi Square test to identify statistically significant relationships, which provided valuable information to inform future family planning initiatives. Results: The chi-square test showed a p value less than the significance level, indicating statistically significant results. Conclusion: Increased maternal knowledge will improve overall child health and well-being outcomes.
