Abstract

One of the reproductive health problems that can increase the risk of unwanted pregnancy is unmet need in the Family Planning (FP)  program. Despite having the desire to delay or limit pregnancy, some women of reprpductive age in the Pujon Community Health Center, Malang Regency, still do not use contraceptive methods. This study aims to analyze the effect of infographic-based booklets as a counseling medium on the knowledge and attitudes of women of reproductive age (WRA) regarding unmet need. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 28 respondents, divided into a control and an intervention group, with 14 respondents in each group. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires before and after the intervention, and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed that after the provision of infographic-based booklets, there were differences between the control and intervention groups in knowledge (p = 0.000) and attitudes (p= 0.050). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the infographic-based booklet is effective in increasing knowledge and forming positive attitudes of women of reproductive age regarding unmet needs.

Abstract

Background: The postpartum period is a critical phase for maternal health, as mothers are vulnerable to various complications that may lead to serious morbidity or mortality if not detected early. Self-warning knowledge regarding danger signs during the postpartum period plays an essential role in enabling mothers to recognize abnormal conditions and seek timely health care. However, limited knowledge and inadequate counseling remain common challenges in postpartum services. Structured postpartum counseling is expected to improve mothers’ understanding of self-warning signs and enhance early detection of complications. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of structured postpartum counseling on self-warning knowledge among postpartum mothers at the Ome Inpatient Health Center. Methods: This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 16 postpartum mothers selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using structured questionnaires to assess mothers’ knowledge of postpartum self-warning signs before and after receiving structured counseling. The counseling intervention was delivered using standardized educational materials. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test to determine the effectiveness of structured postpartum counseling on self-warning knowledge. Results: The results showed an increase in self-warning knowledge among postpartum mothers after receiving structured counseling. Statistical analysis using the Chi-square test indicated a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), demonstrating a statistically significant effect of structured postpartum counseling on improving postpartum mothers’ self-warning knowledge. Conclusion: Structured postpartum counseling is effective in enhancing self-warning knowledge among postpartum mothers. The implementation of structured and continuous counseling during the postpartum period is recommended to support early detection of complications and improve maternal health outcomes.

Abstract

Adolescents are vulnerable to mental health disorders resulting from excessive smartphone use, which can trigger stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as affect behavior and psychological well-being. This study examined the effectiveness of a combination of murottal Al-Qur’an therapy and meditation on the mental health of adolescents with smartphone addiction using a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group approach. The study was conducted at MTS Al-Ma’arif Singosari from May to July 2025. The sample consisted of two groups intervention and control each comprising 15 respondents selected purposively. The intervention was administered for four weeks, and levels of depression, anxiety, and stress were measured before and after the intervention using the DASS-21 questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test, which revealed a significant decrease in all three variables in the intervention group (p < 0.05), while the control group showed only minor changes. These findings indicate that the combination of murottal Al-Qur’an and meditation is effective in reducing mental health disorders among adolescents with smartphone addiction and can be considered a simple and beneficial non-pharmacological method to improve mental health in school settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between dietary patterns and the incidence of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) among pregnant women in Sanankerto Village, Turen District. Poor dietary habits in terms of quantity, quality, and frequency of food intake can lead to insufficient energy intake during pregnancy, increasing the risk of CED. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a comparative design involving 30 pregnant women divided into intervention and control groups. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using an Independent T-Test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the intervention group, which received nutritional education, had significantly higher diet scores compared to the control group, with a significance value of p = 0.000. These findings indicate that nutritional education interventions have a positive effect on improving the quality of dietary intake and reducing the risk of CED. Therefore, nutrition-based interventions should be integrated into maternal health services, especially in rural communities, to prevent CED and associated pregnancy complications.
