Abstract

This study used a bibliometric analysis approach to investigate the literature on children’s development of fraction understanding. Fraction understanding is crucial in early mathematics education because it is the foundation for more advanced concepts. Bibliometric analysis gives a comprehensive data-driven assessment of research trends, significant contributors, and emerging themes in this field. The data were sourced from the Scopus journal database, encompassing 228 articles from 1975 to 2023. Analytical and visualization tools, including VOS Viewer and the Bibliometrix R-Package, were utilized to map connections among journals, authors, countries/regions, and keywords. The findings indicated a trend of increasing publication volume over the past 15 years, with a yearly growth in articles on this topic. Keyword analysis revealed that, within these publications, “fraction” was the most frequently encountered term, followed by “mathematics” and “decimals”. Moreover, there has been a shift in research focus from studying the challenges in conceptual understanding of fractions among children to investigating alternative interventions designed to address these challenges. This study is a foundational reference for future research on the progression of fraction understanding in children.

Abstract

Abstract

This preliminary study explored Parental Reflective Functioning (PRF) among parents with a history of childhood abuse. PRF, the ability to understand a child’s mental state, played a key role in breaking the cycle of intergenerational maltreatment. An explanatory sequential mixed-method design was employed, involving 10 participants in a quantitative phase and two in a follow-up qualitative phase. No significant correlation was found between childhood abuse and PRF. However, qualitative findings revealed key themes, including coping strategies, parenting outcomes and related challenges. This study provided initial insights and highlighted the need for further research with larger samples.

Abstract

Program olahraga yang terstruktur dan teratur direkomendasikan untuk menjaga serta meningkatkan kemampuan perencanaan, pengambilan keputusan, dan kontrol diri pada lansia.ABSTRACTThe global population of older adults is growing faster than the younger population, presenting health challenges such as declines in executive function, which is crucial for cognitive abilities like planning and decision-making. Exercise is a potential intervention for improving executive function in older adults. This study is a systematic literature review analyzing the effectiveness of exercise on executive function in older adults. The review includes 12 experimental research articles that objectively present the relationship between various forms of exercise and at least one executive function, involving participants over the age of 55, clearly describing the types of exercise performed, indicating whether exercises were combined with other activities, characterizing participants as either healthy or clinical populations, and providing quantitative measurements supported by statistical methodologies. Excluded studies were those lacking control, using qualitative or speculative reports, including activities not categorized as exercise, and review or meta-analysis studies. The analysis indicates that exercise improves executive function in older adults. Types of exercise such as Baduanjin, mild exercise, square dance, HIIT, continuous aerobics, strength training, Otago, exergame, cycling, cardio, stretching toning, Tai Chi, physical and cognitive exercises, mind-body exercise, and both individual and group activities show significant results. Structured and regular exercise programs are recommended to maintain and enhance planning, decision-making, and self-control abilities in older adults.

Abstract

The high prevalence of individuals with ASD has shifted the focus of research toward exploring strengths rather than weaknesses, one of which is the phenomenon of savant syndrome, which is most commonly observed in individuals with ASD. However, studies specifically examining the neuropsychological basis of individuals with ASD and savant syndrome remain limited. Therefore, this study aims to explore the characteristics of brain structure and cognitive function in individuals with ASD and savant syndrome using the narrative literature review method. The literature review findings indicate that individuals with ASD and savant syndrome exhibit distinct brain structures and specific cognitive functions that differentiate them from both individuals with ASD without savant syndrome and the general population. These findings provide new insights into the relationship between neuropsychological aspects and the extraordinary abilities possessed by individuals with savant syndrome. The implications of this study serve as a scientific foundation for developing intervention strategies and educational approaches that are better suited to the unique needs and potential of individuals with ASD and savant syndrome.
