Abstract

The waste management system in Kapuas Sub-district still uses the old paradigm without prior processing. As the waste generation increases, the landfill capacity will decrease faster, so an alternative solution is needed to reduce the landfill load through a waste management mechanism. The method of measuring waste generation and composition refers to SNI 19-3964-1994. Evaluation of operational technical aspects is carried out through observation and interviews with related parties then comparing the data obtained with the comparison indicators of Permen PU No. 03/PRT/M/2013 then from the evaluation results, recommendations for waste management systems can be given. The results of the research obtained, namely the amount of waste generated in Kapuas District is 2.17 l / person / day and the most dominant waste composition is organic waste 45.22% and inorganic waste in the form of plastic 36.83% and paper 10.84%. The existing condition of the waste management system in Kapuas Sub-district shows that the aspects of containerization, collection, transfer and transportation mostly meet the criteria of Permen PU No. 03/PRT/M/2013, while the aspects of processing and final processing do not meet the criteria of Permen PU No. 03/PRT/M/2013 so that the recommendations given by building waste processing facilities and changing the method in the landfill to controlled landfill and the need to provide socialization and education to the community regarding the waste management system. Through evaluation of the technical aspects of operation.

Abstract

The research area, namely the Kapuas River, serves as a disposal site for waste from household activities, including bathing, washing, and sanitation (MCK), as well as waste from the industrial and plantation sectors. PTPN XIII Rimba Belian, located in Rimba Belian Hamlet, Semerangkai Village, Kapuas Subdistrict, Sanggau Regency, operates in palm oil (CPO) production, resulting in the formation of waste containing organic compounds such as BOD and TSS. Waste from the PTPN factory's wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) that enters the river can render the river unsuitable for use, leading to diseases, and may cause a decrease in the river's assimilative capacity. Therefore, modeling is needed to analyze the spread of BOD and TSS and calculate the assimilative capacity for pollution using the WASP 7.5 model. The objective of this modeling is to predict the river's assimilative capacity for pollution and the impact of changes in water quality caused by oil palm plantations around the Kapuas River in the research location. The modeling is conducted by segmenting the river into 6 segments. The results of this study indicate that the PTPN XIII factory plays a significant role in contributing to BOD and TSS parameters. The assimilative capacity for BOD in the research location shows positive values in all segments except for segment 4, which has a negative value. Meanwhile, the assimilative capacity for TSS pollution load shows positive values in all segments.

Abstract

Clean water is indispensable for public health, especially in healthcare facilities like hospitals, which require a reliable supply to support various medical and non-medical activities. dr. Agoesdjam Regional General Hospital (RGH) in Ketapang is vital in delivering healthcare services to its community. Given challenges with traditional clean water sources, rainwater harvesting (RWH) emerges as an appealing alternative in areas lacking adequate water infrastructure. This study focuses on planning a rainwater harvesting system at dr. Agoesdjam RGH, identifying rainwater potential, designing collection and storage systems, and evaluating sustainability and effectiveness in meeting hospital water demands. The significance lies in advancing sustainable water supply systems for hospitals and guiding similar facilities toward adopting rainwater as a viable water source, enhancing healthcare service delivery and community access to clean water. The analysis shows that the daily demand for clean water for the ICU building at Dr. Agoesdjam RGH is 2.6 m ³/day, translating to 78 m ³/month based on standard guidelines. Rainfall intensity calculations (120 mm/hour) indicate a need for roof area adjustments to optimize rainwater capture. Specific gutter dimensions (8-inch horizontal, 4-inch vertical) are determined for efficient water flow. A ground tank with a volume of 135 m ³ is planned to ensure adequate water storage. This research underscores the critical role of rainwater harvesting in hospital water supply management, providing insights for effective implementation and contributing to sustainable healthcare infrastructure development.

Abstract

Government Regulation Number 112 of 2015 concerning the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM), states that the drinking water supply system aims to provide services to fulfill people's rights to water which can be implemented by BUMN, BUMD, or other business entities. Perumda Air Drinking Tirta Khatulistiwa is a water provider located in Pontianak City, has a Parit Mayor Water Treatment Plant (IPA) to serve the people of East Pontianak using raw water from the Kapuas River. The type of residue that will be produced from IPA using river water will produce sludge as a residue from processing. Sludge residue will have an impact on the environment if disposed of directly, so a design is needed to design a sludge treatment unit. Treatment planning can use SNI 7510 of 2011 concerning procedures for planning sludge treatment in drinking water treatment plants with sludge drying tanks. Planning uses secondary data such as debit, alum dose, and raw water turbidity in 2020. The four tanks are designed with a required area of 345,902 m2, the available land area of 684.68 m2 is still sufficient for the construction of a sludge treatment plant. Therefore, a sludge treatment plan is carried out to treat residual sludge.
