Abstract

Concerns about personal information leakage have been growing alongside the ease with which personal data is shared on social media platforms. Instagram's "Close Friend" feature offers users greater control over their privacy. Interestingly, many users continue to utilize this feature on their second accounts, despite these accounts already being populated with close friends and trusted individuals. This study aims to explore how individuals manage their personal information privacy through the use of the Close Friend feature on their second accounts Instagram, using the Communication Privacy Management (CPM) theory. The research adopted a quantitative approach with a sample of 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected using questionnaires and analyzed using Smart PLS 4.0. The results indicate that communication privacy management has a strong relationship with the use of the Close Friend feature on second accounts, with an R-square value of 70.5%, suggesting a significant influence. These findings reveal that even when users' second accounts consist of trusted individuals, they still choose to limit the information shared with a smaller group to protect their privacy. This study provides insights into how social media users manage privacy by selectively sharing personal information through platform features.

Abstract

International cooperation in community service is becoming increasingly crucial in the era of globalization. The D3 Library Study Program, FISIP Unila, in collaboration with the School of Information and Communication Studies-Charles Sturt University, carried out Community Service in International Cooperation (PKMKI) with a focus on improving information literacy for community library managers in Lampung Province. In an era of abundant information, the ability to search for accurate and relevant information is becoming increasingly important. However, many individuals have difficulty navigating the vast ocean of information. This service aims to overcome this problem by providing training on advanced information search techniques, especially through Google Advanced Search Operators. The methods used in this service include literature studies, field observations, interviews, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with community library managers. The results of this service are expected to improve the ability of library managers to provide better information services to the community. The outputs produced include a final service report, financial report, video documentation, and information literacy training modules.

Abstract

The Human Development Index (HDI) in Lampung Province has increased from 70.45 in 2022 to 71.15 in 2023. However, Lampung's HDI is still the lowest in Sumatra. One of the factors causing this is the low Average Length of School (RLS) which is only 8.29 years, the second lowest in Sumatra. The low RLS is due to the low public interest in higher education. Economic factors and lack of understanding of the importance of higher education are the main causes. The Service Team from the Department of Communication Sciences then provides education, motivation, and mentoring to parents and high school students in Lampung to increase their interest in higher education with scholarships. Effective persuasive communication strategies are used to change people's perceptions of the cost of higher education and open up their insights into available scholarship opportunities. Before the training began, a pre-test was conducted to measure the level of participants' initial understanding of higher education and scholarships. The results of the pre-test showed that most participants had a limited understanding of higher education opportunities and accessible scholarship resources. After a series of training sessions that included educational, motivational, and mentoring sessions with a persuasive communication approach, a post-test was conducted to measure the impact of the activity. The results of the post-test showed a significant improvement. In addition to increasing knowledge, the participants also revealed a change in attitudes towards higher education. Parents, who had previously been worried about the cost of education, showed greater interest in supporting their children to pursue higher education through the scholarship pathway. The students who took part in the training also showed greater enthusiasm and motivation to continue their education. Overall, this service activity has proven successful in achieving its goal, which is to increase public awareness and interest, especially in Lampung Province, to continue higher education through scholarships.

Abstract

How individuals eat has an impact on their health and well-being. To maintain their well-being, individuals must control their mindset and social environment. The prevalence of eating broadcasts on YouTube, where content creators consume large amounts of food without revealing nutritional information, continues to be a popular trend that hypothetically affects people's eating habits. The study aims to assess the influence of social media influencers on unhealthy food habits, using Planned Behavior Theory as a framework. This study used a method of survey and collecting quantitative data. This study examined the research site of the University of Lampung. The data analysis was done descriptively. According to the regression formula, Y = 16. 615 + 0677X - Constant term = 16. In summary, with a trust value of 0, 615 indicates a positively oriented regression coefficient X, which represents the magnitude of influence of the X variable on the Y variable. The t-test showed X had a significant impact of 40. 1% on Y 59 remaining. 9% of variation in the Y variable attributed to unexamined factors. The study showed that how much a person's food consumption behavior is affected by watching an eating broadcast depends on their intentions. Consuming the frequency, duration, and attention levels of the broadcast significantly affects and improves unhealthy consumption behavior in adolescents.

Abstract

Abstract

The use of gadgets and internet access opens up great opportunities to obtain educational content, enriching children's cognitive stimulation and creativity. However, a series of studies shows that digital parenting interventions practices and strategies parents use to maximize benefits while minimizing the risks of their children's interaction with digital media still face various challenges, especially during early developmental stages. Data from the Operational Curriculum of TK AN-NUR Sabah Balau Tanjung Bintang Lampung Selatan indicates that literacy including digital literacy is considered a basic need in the learning and communication process. This community service aims to reduce children's dependence on gadgets by enhancing parents' digital literacy, strengthening dialogic communication between parents and children in the digital context, raising awareness and skills related to digital safety and health, and integrating local values into digital parenting practices. The activities are carried out in two stages: Focus Group Discussions (FGD) involving interactive dialogues between the service team and participants to identify their initial knowledge about communicative parenting, and training sessions that provide comprehensive knowledge and understanding of communicative parenting for early childhood in the digital era, particularly in facing the challenges posed by the digital world. Evaluation results from pre-tests and post-tests showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding after the training. Before the training, most participants were in the very low understanding category, but after the training, the majority improved their knowledge, with 76.92% of participants in the 'adequate' understanding category and 23.08% in the 'good' category. No participants were in the 'very low' or 'low' category after the training, indicating the success of the program in making a tangible impact.     Keywords: communicative parenting, challenges and solutions, early childhood.
