Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Tarbawi method as a Qur’anic learning strategy in fostering Qur’anic character among students at an Integrated Islamic Junior High School. The Tarbawi method is known for its flexibility and emphasis on tahsin, tahfidz, and adab cultivation through the TANDUR approach (Grow, Experience, Name, Demonstrate, Repeat, Celebrate). This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving tahfidz teachers, Takhasus class students, and instructional documents. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, presentation, and verification to obtain a comprehensive understanding. The findings reveal that the Tarbawi method effectively improves students’ recitation quality, memorization, and mastery of tajwid. Furthermore, its implementation significantly contributes to the development of religious character traits such as discipline, responsibility, perseverance, and love for the Qur’an. Challenges encountered include learning fatigue, similarities among verses, and limited time. Solutions applied include emotional support, the use of interactive media, and synergy with parents. In conclusion, the Tarbawi method serves not only as an effective Qur’anic learning strategy but also as a holistic instrument for nurturing Qur’anic character. This model is recommended for adoption in other Islamic educational institutions to produce generations with noble character and a Qur’anic worldview.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of pesantren culture on the formation of the character of students at the Sirojul Ulum Pare Kediri Islamic Boarding School. In this study using a quantitative approach, in which researchers collected data using questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The method used in this research is inferential analysis method with multiple linear regression analysis. Sampling of 40 students. The results of this study indicate that the influence of Islamic boarding school culture on the formation of the character of the students at the Queen Al-Falah Ploso Islamic Boarding School, Kediri, has a strong and significant influence of 27.3%, meaning that the culture of the Islamic boarding school is significantly related to the formation of the character of the students. Meanwhile, 72.7% is determined by other factors.

Abstract

Education is a fundamental foundation for developing quality human resources. However, Vocational High Schools (SMKs) face various challenges, including low student academic achievement, a lack of teacher motivation, and limited facilities and infrastructure. The principal plays a central role in improving academic quality through the implementation of effective strategies to produce competent and job-ready graduates. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and documentation for data collection. The findings reveal that the strategies employed by the principal of SMKS Plus Al-Ma’arif Kota Malang to enhance academic quality include teacher development, collaborative benchmarking programs, and community involvement. These findings can serve as a model for other vocational schools in efforts to improve the quality of vocational education. Furthermore, this study provides recommendations for policymakers in formulating more effective programs to enhance vocational education quality.

Abstract

This study aims to determine to what extent the education system of Islamic boarding schools (known as Pondok Pesantren) is related to the model of interpersonal communication and pesantren students (known as santri) readiness to learn can contribute to their success while taking the level in higher education. The authors used the quantitative method as the research approach. This research was conducted at the Pondok Pesantren "Anwarul Huda" Karang Basuki, Malang. To solve the problems in this study, two statistical analysis techniques were used, namely descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study indicated that first, most of the santri studying at higher educational institutions (universities) had poor interpersonal communication, quite good learning readiness, and good learning outcomes. Second, the santri’s interpersonal communication model and learning readiness significantly contribute to university learning outcomes achievement by 7.6% and other factors that influence the rest. This analysis indicates that santri’s interpersonal communication and learning readiness have not been optimally carried out in Islamic boarding schools. Therefore, every educator should always provide directions to generate and develop santri’s interpersonal communication model and learning readiness to maximize their learning outcomes in higher education.

Abstract

Graduate quality serves as the primary indicator of an educational institution’s success, including Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), which have a dual orientation: developing students’ academic competence and spirituality. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of spiritual leadership, teacher competence, and learning organization culture on graduate quality, as well as to examine the moderating role of learning organization culture in these relationships. This study employs a quantitative explanatory approach using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM–PLS) method. The research population includes teachers, school principals, and students from four formal educational institutions under the auspices of Pesantren Al Amien Jember. The results reveal that: (1) spiritual leadership has a positive and significant effect on graduate quality (P-Value = 0.000); (2) teacher competence has a positive and significant effect on graduate quality (P-Value = 0.000); (3) learning organization culture has a positive and significant effect on graduate quality (P-Value = 0.018); (4) learning organization culture moderates the effect of spiritual leadership on graduate quality (P-Value = 0.010); and (5) learning organization culture also moderates the effect of teacher competence on graduate quality (P-Value = 0.032). These findings affirm that visionary spiritual leadership, excellent teacher competence, and an adaptive, collaborative learning organization culture play crucial roles in enhancing the quality of pesantren graduates. Practically, the results recommend the development of a sustainable learning culture within pesantren environments to produce graduates who are of strong character, globally competitive, and capable of contributing positively to society.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of popular culture on the Islamic identity of students, particularly in the context of boarding school education. In the digital era, popular culture—manifested through K-pop, social media trends, and digital content—has become a dominant force shaping youth identity, often in contrast to Islamic values that emphasize modesty and spirituality. This research aims to analyze the direct impact of pop culture on students' Islamic identity and to examine the moderating role of educational environment management in Islamic boarding schools. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with a sample of 114 female students from Thursina IIBS Malang. The findings reveal a significant negative relationship between exposure to pop culture and Islamic identity. However, the quality of educational environment management significantly moderates this relationship, reducing the negative impact. The results highlight that structured and value-based boarding school environments can function as a buffer against external cultural pressures. This study contributes to Islamic education management literature by providing empirical evidence on how institutional religious environments can reinforce student identity amidst global cultural trends.

Abstract

Strategi brand image menjadi kebutuhan strategis bagi perguruan tinggi dalam mempertahankan daya saing di tengah persaingan global dan komersialisasi pendidikan tinggi. Universitas KH. Abdul Chalim (UAC) Mojokerto menghadirkan fenomena menarik dengan membangun citra kelembagaan melalui pendekatan religius dan pesantren, bukan semata promosi komersial. Sebagian besar studi tentang branding perguruan tinggi masih berfokus pada aspek visual, promosi digital, dan segmentasi pasar umum. Kesenjangan muncul karena minimnya kajian yang menyoroti pendekatan berbasis nilai keislaman modern dalam membangun brand image dan keunggulan kompetitif, khususnya di lingkungan Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam (PTKI). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi brand image Universitas KH. Abdul Chalim dalam mempertegas keunggulan kompetitif. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif studi kasus dengan teknik observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam terhadap lima informan kunci dan dokumentasi pendukung. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa strategi brand image UAC bersifat otentik dan terintegrasi dengan sistem nilai, spiritualitas kelembagaan, relasi sosial, dan kemitraan berbasis komunitas. Branding dilakukan melalui kurikulum unggulan, sistem asrama empat tahun, dan komunikasi digital berbasis testimoni serta tokoh pesantren. Strategi demikian berdampak langsung pada peningkatan partisipasi mahasiswa dari luar daerah dan luar negeri, penguatan akreditasi institusi, serta pengakuan dari lembaga eksternal. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi teoritis terhadap kajian brand image berbasis nilai pada konteks perguruan tinggi keagamaan Islam. Direkomendasikan agar sistem riset pasar serta dokumentasi strategi dilaksanakan secara lebih terstruktur bagi pengembangan PTKI di masa depan.
