Abstract

Tujuan  penelitian  adalah:(1)  untuk  mengetahui  berapa  besar  kebutuhan  guru  Bidang  Teknik  Mesin menurut  Program  Keahlian  yang  dibuka  di  kota  Semarang,  (2)  untuk mengetahui  rasio  antara  siswa  dan  guru Bidang  Teknik Mesin menurut  Program  Keahlian  yang  dibuka  di  kota  Semarang,  (3)  untuk mengetahui  berapa proporsi guru Bidang Teknik Mesin pada tiap‐tiap sekolah, (4) untuk mengetahui kualifikasi guru Bidang Teknik Mesin  yang  berhubungan  dengan  jenjang  atau  jenis  ijazahnya,  dan (5) untuk mengetahui relevansi Program Keahlian Teknik Mesin dengan kebutuhan  lapangan kerja (industri). Populasi dan sampel penelitian  ini adalah 22 SMK Bidang Keahlian Teknik Mesin di kota Semarang. Variabelnya adalah kebutuhan guru, rasio antara guru dan siswa,  kualifikasi  guru  dan  relevansi  program  dengan  kebutuhan  pasar.  Metode  penelitian  ini  menggunakan metode dokumentasi dan angket. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan rumus kebutuhan guru.Kata kunci: kebutuhan guru, teknik mesin, program keahlian The purposes of this research are: (1) to discover how much the  need  for  teachers  of  Mechanical Engineering  according  to  Skill Programs  opened  in  Semarang City is, (2) to identify ratio between students and teachers of Mechanical Engineering according to Skill Programs opened in Semarang City, (3) to find out how much the proportion of Mechanical Engineering Teachers in accordance with degree or its certificate type, and (5) to be aware  of  relevance  between Mechanical  Engineering  Skill  Program  and  job  vacancy  (industry).  Population  and sample  of  the  research  were  22  vocational  high  schools  with  their  Mechanical  Engineering  Skill  Program  in Semarang City. The variables were the need for teachers, ratio between teachers and students, teacher qualification and relevance between the program  itself and market need. Abstract

Penelitian  ini mengungkapkan permasalahan pengaruh  latar belakang orang tua sebagai guru terhadap minat mengajar pada mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Teknik Mesin Universitas Negeri Semarang angkatan 2007  dan  2008.  Berdasarkan  hasil  penelitian  dapat  disimpulkan  bahwa  latar  belakang  orang  tua  sebagai  guru mempengaruhi minat mengajar mahasiswa sebesar 38,24%. Tetapi variabel latar belakang orang tua sebagai guru bukan merupakan satu‐satunya faktor yang mempengaruhi minat mengajar pada mahasiswa. Kata kunci : Latar Belakang Orang Tua Sebagai Guru, Minat Mengajar This research reveals the problem in which the parents’ social background as teacher affects students’ interest in teaching. The students were from Mechanical Engineering Education program Semarang State University year 2007 and 2008. According to the result of the research, the parents’ social background as teacher affects students’  interest  in  teaching about 38,24%. However,  this  factor  is not the only factor affecting students’ interest in teaching. It is just one of many factors.   Keywords: parents’ social background as teacher, teaching interest

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of the synchronization management of vocational high school graduate competence with industrial competency in mechanical major. It employed Research and Development (R & D) approach developed by Borg and Gall which was modified into three stages: (1) preliminary study; (2) development study; and (3) model dissemination. After testing its effectiveness using experimental design (before-after), the developed model was proven more effective than the old version. This insight leads positively to vocational graduate employment rate and competence improvement. Here, the stakeholders have a profound impact on model effectiveness as they assist and facilitate the synchronization process. It is recommended that their commitment or support shall reach its maximum capacity so that the vocational school graduate competence is well-matched to the demand from industry.

Abstract

This research was carried out based on the results of observations in the vocational theory learning process, there were several obstacles faced, There are several obstacles, namely, 1) the methods used are lectures and discussions that are less than optimal; 2) students are less enthusiastic in learning the material because the media used by the teacher is in the form of power points and softfile modules; 3) It is not possible to use power point media and module softfiles to operate randomly and freely in adjusting the selection of the material pages you want to learn. The research objectives of this research are (1) develop Adobe Flash CS6-based learning media in Vocational Theory subjects,(2) analyze the feasibility and practicality of learning media,(3) analyze the effectiveness of using learning media. Research on the development of learning media based on Adobe Flash CS 6 using the ADDIE development model. The data collection tool for the feasibility of learning media uses media experts. Media practicality data using assessment questionnaires by teachers and students. In the results of this study, Adobe Flash CS 6 can be integrated with server side scripting such as CGI, ASP and PHP to create beautiful database web applications. In addition, it can also be used to make short films or cartoons, presentations, advertisements or web banners, logo animations.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan serbuk tempurung buah maja terbilang masih belum maksimal. Kampas rem komposit saat ini banyak dikembangkan karena sifatnya yang ramah lingkungan dan tahan panas dibandingkan kampas rem non asbestos. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis fraksi volume serbuk tempurung buah maja terhadap keausan komposit bermatrik epoxy sebagai material alternatif kampas rem sepeda motor. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan true experimental design dengan tipe posttest-only design, terdapat kelompok eksperimen (komposit) dan kelompok kontrol (kampas rem merk Indoparts). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai yang paling optimal terdapat pada volume 30% dengan nilai keausan 2,008 x 10-6 mm2/kg. Hal itu menunjukkan semakin banyak volume serbuk, maka kekuatan komposit akan meningkat. Nilai tersebut yang paling mendekati dengan nilai kampas rem sepeda motor merk Indoparts. Maka dari itu, komposit serbuk tempurung buah maja dapat direkomendasikan sebagai material alternatif kampas rem sepeda motor.Kata kunci: fraksi volume; keausan; kampas rem; serbuk tempurung buah maja.The utilization of wood apple shell particles is not optimal yet. Composite brake pads are currently being developed because they are eco-friendly and heat resistant compared to non-asbestos brake pads. This research attempt to analyze the volume fraction of Buah maja shell particles on the measure of wear from epoxy matrix composites as an alternative material for motorcycle brake pads. The design of this research uses a true experimental design with a posttest-only design type, there is an experimental group (composite) and a control group (Indoparts brand brake pads). The results show the most optimal measure is found in volume 30% with a hardness measure of wear 2,008 x 10-6 mm2/kg. It shows that the more particles volume, the composite strength will increase. This measure is closest to the measure of the Indoparts motorcycle brake pads. Abstract

This research is motivated by the implementation of conventional learning. Besides, student learning motivation is still low due to student activities that are less centered on making workpieces that are suitable for work in the industry. Learning outcomes show that only 55.88% of students reach Minimum Completeness Criteria (Kriteria Ketuntasan minimum or KKM). The design and learning of productive machining competencies that are in accordance with the needs of the industry influence students' experience and learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze the results of industrial project-based learning (InPro-BL) milling machine competency learning outcomes in SMK Negeri 1 Semarang. The method used in this study is Class Action Research (CAR) through four stages: (1) planning, (2) implementation of actions, (3) observation and evaluation, (4) reflection. The samples were 34 students of class XII of Mechanical Engineering. The data were collected using product assessment instruments to measure dimensional accuracy, timeliness, level of disability, level of smoothness, and work attitude. This study was descriptive quantitative, and qualitative. The results of the study show that InPro-BL is effective in improving the learning outcomes of milling machine competencies. In Cycle I,  there is an increase in learning outcomes, from 19 students who completed the KKM to 25 students or 73.52%. In Cycle II, there are 88.23% of students passed the KKM. These results can be improved by paying attention to the management of learning time through the block system, teacher's understanding of industrial-project-based learning, and industry guest teachers mentoring every learning process.

Abstract

Vocational education building and development must consider the needs of the industry and the demands of 21st-century skills graduates. For these two requirements, it is necessary to innovate the learning model to improve the students’ learning experience and graduates’ performance. This study aims to develop a production-based learning model that is integrated with 21st-century learning skills to improve skills in mechanical engineering. The study employed focus group discussion and experts’ judgment. This study involved the mechanical engineering lecturers, the head of laboratory at the mechanical engineering department, the head of the department of mechanical engineering, the head of mechanical engineering vocational education, the head of the mechanical laboratory at the vocational schools, mechanical engineering teachers, vocational technology education experts, and curriculum specialists. The results show that the utility, feasibility, propriety, and accuracy of the production-based learning model integrated with 21st-century learning skills met the expected criteria and could be used to improve mechanical engineering skills.

Abstract

The alignment of the competencies in the industry with vocational school is crucial to develop the graduate skills to comply with industry needs. Competency alignment can be performed through an innovative learning model by integrating the industrial activities into learning activities. This study assessed the feasibility of the product–based learning model to improve the mechanical engineering competence by aligning competencies of the vocational school with industry. This study used experimental research with one group pretest-posttest design. The study employed data analysis consisting of the T-test and the feasibility testing of the model. The effectiveness testing of the model was performed by comparing student’s achievement before and after using the learning model. The feasibility test was conducted on 39 students participating in the subject of Machining Process II. The results of the study revealed that there were significant differences in mechanical engineering competencies before and after using the learning model. These results indicated that the industry and stakeholders need to be involved in each stage of learning.

Abstract

Revitalization of vocational education must be designed and developed according to the industry's needs through appropriate learning innovations. The selection of suitable learning methods influences the graduate competencies and learning experiences of students. This study aims to analyze the learning process based on industrial products in mechanical practices. The learning process analysis includes giving apperceptions and motivation, mastering learning materials, learning strategies implementation, learning resources or media, involving students, and closing the learning process. The research used an experimental method with a static group comparison design. This study used two groups consisting of the experimental and control group with 20 respondents for each. The experimental group is respondents who used industrial products-based learning, and the control group is respondents who used conventional learning (job sheet-based). The research respondents were students of the Mechanical Engineering Department Universitas Negeri Semarang who have passed the Mechanical Process I lesson chosen by random sampling technique. Research data were collected using a teaching and learning process questionnaire, while the data analysis technique used is the Mann Whitney U Test and descriptive statistics. The research findings show that there are differences in the process of the mechanical practice using industrial products-based learning and conventional learning (job sheet-based). Implementation of learning with the gift of apperception and motivation, mastery of learning materials, application of learning strategies, assembling of learning resources or learning media, students' participation in the learning process, and closing the learning process is better to use the industrial products-based learning compared to conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Whitworth thread's fatigue characterization due to dynamic twisting on low carbon steel. The research method uses experiments with pre-experimental design with the form of intact group comparison. The experimental group was specimens with Whitworth thread notch depth of 0.67 mm, 0.81 mm, and 1.16 mm. The control group was Whitworth threads with a notch depth of 0.9 mm. The study used low carbon steel with a carbon content of 0.12% wt. The dynamic torsion testing with a twisting angle of 5 reveals that the deeper the Whitworth thread notch, the lower the fatigue resistance. The fracture surface is visible due to dynamic torsion in the form of initial crack, crack propagation rate, and final crack.Fenomena kegagalan lelah disebabkan oleh pola pembebanan dan bentuk takikan. Pola pembebanan terjadi karena puntir lentur dan puntir dinamis. Bentuk takikan diperlukan karena tuntutan desain, salah satunya adalah takik ulir whitworth. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis karakterisasi ketahanan lelah ulir whitworth akibat pembebanan puntir dinamis pada baja karbon rendah. Metode penelitian menggunakan eksperimen dengan pre-experimental design dengan bentuk intact-group comparison. Kelompok eksperimen adalah spesimen dengan kedalaman takik ulir whitworth 0.67 mm, 0.81 mm, dan 1.16 mm. Kelompok kontrol dengan kedalaman takik ulir whitworth sebesar  0.9 mm. Penelitian menggunakan baja karbon rendah dengan kandungan karbon sebesar 0.12% wt. Hasil pengujian puntir dinamis mengungkapkan bahwa semakin dalam takik ulir withworth maka ketahanan lelahnya semakin menurun. Bentuk penampang patah akibat pembebanan puntir dinamis berupa initial crack, crack propagation rate dan final crack.
