Abstract

Abstract

Cyberwarfare has become one of the most prominent aspects of global geopolitical competition, introducing a new dimension of conflict involving states and non-state actors. Although research on the role of states in cyber warfare has been amplacious, research on the role of non-state actors is still limited. This study aims to analyze the role and impact of non-state actors in global cyber warfare. In cyber warfare, non-state actors can exploit the vulnerabilities of security systems to achieve their political or ideological goals, changing geopolitical dynamics in unexpected ways. Case studies raised in this study include cyber attacks by Anonymous groups against governments and companies, cyber acts of terrorism by ISIS, manipulation of information by extremist groups to achieve their political goals, and the use of digital propaganda in regional conflicts. By paying attention to the concept of force and security in the perspective of realism, this research is expected to provide a better understanding of how non-state actors influence global geopolitical dynamics through cyber warfare. The implication of this research is the importance of strengthening national cyber defense and international cooperation in the face of threats presented by non-state actors in the cyber domain.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to ascertain how Islamic banking's financial performance and macroeconomic conditions affect its profitability. The object of this study is Islamic banking in Indonesia from 2015 to 2024, in the form of Sharia Commercial Banks (BUS) and Sharia Business Units (UUS). The independent variables in this study are macroeconomics which is measured through financial ratios, namely inflation and the Rupiah exchange rate (exchange rate) and for financial performance is measured through financial ratios, namely Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR), Non-Performing Financing (NPF) and Operating Expenses of Operating Income (BOPO), while the dependent variable, namely profitability is measured through Return on Asset (ROA). The data used is monthly financial statement data for the last 10 years taken quarterly (per 3 months) starting from March 2015 to December 2024. The data was analyzed using multiple regression methods. The NPF and BOPO variables had a somewhat significant impact on ROA, according to the t-test results.  In the meantime, ROA was only marginally impacted by the factors of inflation, exchange rates, and FDR.  The F test findings demonstrated that all of the variables—inflation, exchange rate, FDR, NPF, and BOPO—had a substantial impact on ROA at the same time.

Abstract

In the digital era, the preservation and dissemination of Islamic traditions face both disruption and opportunity due to the rapid proliferation of emerging technologies. This study aims to systematically identify how technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), blockchain, and social media have been applied to support Islamic education, cultural heritage preservation, and religious communication. Using the PRISMA 2020 framework, a systematic literature review was conducted on 26 peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2025 across Scopus, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Taylor & Francis databases. The findings reveal diverse technological applications, from AI-based Qur'anic interpretation tools and VR-based ritual simulations to blockchain-driven manuscript authentication. These technologies contribute to educational innovation, cultural preservation, and digital da’wah while raising concerns over theological authenticity, spiritual commodification, and ethical alignment with Islamic values. The study concludes that emerging technologies offer meaningful pathways and cautionary implications for sustaining Islamic traditions in the digital age. Strategic engagement and ethical integration are crucial to ensuring that technological innovation reinforces rather than dilutes Islam's spiritual, cultural, and communal dimensions.

Abstract

Fiqh, like the law in general, always faces new problems (nawāzil) that need solutions through ijtihad. To establish the law of the problem of fiqh nawazil, a standard method of ijtihad is needed. Through this research, the author seeks to review the literature related to ijtihad fiqh nawazil to be assembled into a standard method, which is then compared with the procedure of establishing fatwa of the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) and used as a theory to dissect MUI fatwa related to Covid-19. From the results of the study of related literature, ijtihad fiqh nawazil can be conducted by three methods, namely bayānī, ta’līlī, and istiṣlaḥī, which are then practiced through three stages, namely taṣawwur al-masalat, takyīf fiqhī, and taṭbīq al-ahkām. Although there is a slight difference in the aspect of language between the methods and stages of the ijtihad fiqh nawazil with the MUI fatwa establishment procedure, both have the same substance, so it can be concluded that the fatwa establishment procedure of the MUI has included three stages of the ijtihad fiqh nawazil methods. This is increasingly seen in the MUI fatwa decree related to Covid-19, especially in the Law on the Use of AstraZeneca Vaccine.

Abstract

Abstract: Climate change is a global challenge that requires collective engagement from around the world. This research formulates that Hossein Nasr's ecosufism can be applied as a principle of global citizenship and plays a role in overcoming the challenges of climate change. Using a descriptive qualitative method with library research and using an interdisciplinary approach because it combines several scientific fields, including ecology, Sufism, global citizenship education, and other sciences. Ecosufism views environmental sustainability as an integral part of spiritual understanding and humanity. Sufistic communities in Indonesia have implemented ecosufism in their practices, such as planting trees, using renewable energy, and reducing waste. The principles of ecosufism can be considered as principles of global citizenship in the sense that it emphasizes global awareness, responsibility and action in preserving and protecting the environment and addressing the challenges of climate change. If integrated with global citizenship education, ecosufism can help individuals develop a sustainable global perspective and promote more effective global citizenship. Ecosufism offers a holistic solution to the global challenges faced by society today. By integrating Sufistic values and the principles of global citizenship education, ecosufism can be a driving force in efforts to address climate change. Abstract

Consciousness is a classical discourse among scientists, philosophers, and theologians across time and space. It has become a hard problem from many angles: What it is? How do we approach it? How it is being discussed? What is the objective? Etc. The vast scope of the topic causes consciousness to become an intriguing topic to many disciplines. This paper offers multidisciplinary research to consciousness. This approach enables us to spot the problem, intersection, and division across disciplines. We found that there are convergences and divergences to consciousness as multidisciplinary object of study. First, consciousness is related to the mind, but the location is unclear because of the lack of understanding of human structure. Second, spirituality is closely associated with the study of consciousness but remains secondary in Western hegemonic knowledge production, but it is highly encouraged for mental health practices in Western society. Third, some disagreement in investigating consciousness is on the acknowledgment of soul and the sentiment about religion. The dispute implies to various type of consciousness: consciousness as consciousness, self-consciousness, and God-consciousness. This typology correlates to what extent one’s beliefs. We argue that Islam has the most comprehensive explanation to study consciousness and its cognates.
