Abstract

Laho'an tribe is one of the sub-tribes in Belu Regency. The cultural landscape of the Laho'an Tribe was formed as a result of the interaction between the Laho'an Tribe community and their environment. The problem that occurs in this tribe is the degradation of landscapes and cultures. The cause of these changes is due to the influence of modernity and the lack of awareness of the people of the lahoan tribe on the importance of culture, ancestral heritage and existing landscapes. The purpose of this study is to identify the cultural landscape of the Laho'an Tribe in relation to its architecture and landscape. Landscape identification refers to 8 variables according to McClelland et al. (1999)  in Maharini (2018). The method used in this study is a qualitative method with purposive sampling samples where the respondents used have certain criteria. Based on the results of cultural landscape identification, the Laho'an Tribe has its own characteristics related to tradition, culture, settlement, and landscape order. The Laho'an people believe in a dynamism system. Their traditions are divided into two, namely rituals related to the life cycle and rituals related to landscapes. The Laho'an tribe responds to the environment by utilizing natural products to meet the needs of life. These natural products can be used to make handicrafts, medicines, foodstuffs, building materials, and can be used in traditional rituals. The settlement of the Laho'an Tribe community is linear in shape which generally extends and is lined up on the side according to the direction of the road. The orientation of Laho'an settlement houses is related to the concept of orientation which considers that the best direction of the house is to face east and west. Circulation in the area in the form of primary, secondary, and tertiary circulation. Architecturally, Laho'an traditional house buildings are divided into typologies, forms, and functions. Judging from the typology of shapes, traditional houses are in the form of stilt houses with pole construction in the form of magnificent poles, support poles, and upside-down boat-shaped roofs. From the typology of the function of traditional houses, it can be seen from the spatial pattern which is divided into two, namely vertical and horizontal. Vertically in the form of under the house, the middle room, the upper room. Horizontally in the form of a vestibule, a middle room and a back room.

Abstract

Globally, currently more than 50 percent of the world's population lives in urban areas. It is projected that 70 percent of the world's population will live in cities by 2050. Given the sheer scale of urbanization and its environmental implications, it is important to consider the interrelationships between urban and rural contexts in an integrated manner. Achieving sustainable development requires priorities and the implementation of tailored policies in both urban and rural areas. One way that can be done is to strengthen rural cultural values in communities and indigenous peoples. In this study, the case study raised is the cultural value of the Samin Bojonegoro community in maintaining cultural values and preventing the flow of urbanization of its population. The creation of a livable environment through the cultural values of the Samin community will be raised through this research through ethnographic approach with synchronic and diachronic presentation. As a result The Samin community, which is rooted in the culture of an agrarian society, has not changed much in terms of vegetation, land use, and cultural activities. This has an impact on environmental sustainability and cultural establishment so that it seems as if it has a border from outside influences while also protecting cities from urbanization flows and environmental burdens

Abstract

The Dhawe Tribe cultural area, better known as the Ola Dhawe Traditional Village, is currently the center of attention of the government and the local community because the site has changed the activity pattern of the Dhawe Tribe community both in terms of culture and in terms of culture and landscape. These changes occur in community activities that can damage the environment, such as logging activities around customary forest areas, converting customary land into residential areas, natural exploitation around the Dhawe Tribe area, and replacing traditional house structure materials from raw into modern materials. The changes that occur are feared to impact the preservation of the landscape and culture of the Dhawe Tribe community. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a study on human interaction with the landscape, which is now called the cultural landscape, as the primary material for sustainable development and efforts to preserve the various values. This study aims to identify the architectural characteristics and cultural landscapes of the Dhawe Tribe and determine the public's perception of its conservation efforts. Primary data was obtained using focus group discussions, while the analysis method was carried out in a descriptive-qualitative manner and continued with quantitative analysis. The results and discussion obtained can be developed on recommendations for preserving the architecture and cultural landscape of the Dhawe Tribe. The conclusion is that efforts to identify architecture and cultural landscapes and public understanding of culture are needed as conservation efforts.

Abstract

Tanean Lanjhang is a traditional communal space of the Madurese community that embodies social, cultural, and kinship values through its distinctive spatial configuration. This study aims to understand how the spatial arrangement of Tanean Lanjhang supports social interaction and preserves cultural identity using a Space Syntax analysis approach. The research method integrates field surveys, spatial mapping with GIS, syntactic analysis using DepthmapX, and qualitative interviews with local communities. The findings reveal that the central open space of Tanean Lanjhang exhibits high levels of integration and connectivity, serving as a hub for communal activities and reinforcing social cohesion. Meanwhile, private areas surrounding the courtyard show high control values, reflecting the social hierarchy within the extended Madurese family. The study also explores how adaptation to modernization alters spatial configurations while retaining core cultural values. These findings emphasize the importance of incorporating local wisdom into contemporary spatial planning and expand the application of Space Syntax to the study of traditional cultures.

Abstract

Regional zoning planning is the initial stage of restructuring the Joyoboyo Pier area as a tourist area based on conservation principles. The principle of conservation in structuring tourist areas located in natural or natural areas is primarily an effort to protect natural resources and facilitate management. With zoning, it is hoped that tourism activities can run well because there is separation of land uses so that maximum land use can be achieved without interference from other land uses. So that a higher quality and environmentally friendly river border environment can be created. The aim of this research is to determine the zoning of the river border at Joyoboyo pier as a tourist area. This research method is a combined qualitative and quantitative method. Meanwhile, data analysis was carried out descriptively and spatially. The results of this research are the zoning of the Joyoboyo pier area with a core zone of 2.40 Ha (14%), a special zone of 2.69 Ha (15%), a buffer zone of 10.50 Ha (60%) and a utilization zone of 1 .94 Ha (11%).
