Abstract

The Sukodono Reservoir (Gresik, East Java, Indonesia) is a pump-fed, multi-compartment system integrating irrigation and potable supply. We assess scenario-based operations and an economic appraisal. Three vertical-turbine pumps are installed (3×150 L/s); routine operation uses two units at 81% efficiency, yielding 243 L/s for 12 h/day (10.498 m³/day), with the third unit as standby/peak. By 2039, the population is projected at 30.801, requiring 22 L/s, supplied by a 30 L/s WTP. Irrigation storage targets are 120.000 m³ (250 ha core plantation), 270.000 m³ (2.250 ha inter-cropping), and 546.750 m³ (secondary crops). Six phased-expansion scenarios over six years were evaluated. Results show the designed operation reliably meets the 22 L/s potable demand while achieving the irrigation storage targets across scenarios. Base-case economics at a 5.50% discount rate (WACC) indicate IRR 18.50%, BCR ≈ 1.00 (break-even), and payback 7.10 years. We conclude that pump-fed reservoirs can integrate rural water supply and dryland irrigation effectively, although economic performance is marginal under the base case; viability improves with efficiency gains and prudent O&M/Fuel-Cost control.

Abstract

Reliable raw water service depends on asset condition, institutional capability, and watershed context; existing checklists in Indonesia fail to produce a validated, decision-ready performance score.  This study develops a composite performance indicator for raw water infrastructure that incorporates technical (Tk), institutional/non-technical (NT), and environmental (Li) dimensions. Data were collected from 21 schemes in Lombok–Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia (NTB), with 160 respondents, using field assessments and 1–4 scale questionnaires. Estimated reflective formative partial least squares structural equation modeling was then applied, and GRG calibration was used to minimize deviation from field scores under non-negativity and unit sum constraints for interpretability and portability. All pillars contribute positively and significantly to the composite index, which exhibits high explanatory power (R² = 0.997). The calibrated index is PIRWSS = 0.440 PITk + 0.340 PINT + 0.220 PILi, with SSR ≈ 83.412, RMSE ≈ 0.522, MSE ≈ 5.721, and ≈ 99.70% accuracy relative to field benchmarks. A cross-site analysis shows higher performance in Lombok than in Sumbawa, reflecting hydroclimatic conditions and conveyance configurations. The index provides utilities and regulators with a transparent, reproducible framework for benchmarking and prioritizing operations, maintenance, rehabilitation, and source water protection

Abstract

Floods occur annually at the Sidoarjo Mud Area and the surroundings, especially at the Porong Highway, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java. The mudflow could cause several problems on the drainage system. Therefore, the inundation needs to be handled with an alternative drainage system which is environmentally friendly, such as Zero Run-Off. The analysis of hydrological data was performed at the Porong Rain Station to identify the discharge design of the drainage channel. From the results of  hydrological analysis using a 5-year return period at the West Ketapang Drainage Subsystem design, it was shown that the lowest value of the flood discharge was 0.527 m3/s and the largest value was 3.199 m3/s. The results of the evaluation showed that 6 of the 9 existing channels required an inundation. The selected interventions were to build the infiltration channels, channel rehabilitation and rehabilitation of pump. The inundation discharge was reduced by 33.15% after conducting the intervention. Therefore, further intervention such as channel rehabilitation and pump system rehabilitation was maintained until the total inundation discharge was reduced by 100%. Furthermore, the total cost budget plan for each project was IDR 13,018,111,886.Kawasan Lumpur Sidoarjo kerap terjadi banjir tahunan pada daerah sekitarnya, khususnya Jalan Raya Porong, Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Semburan lumpur yang masih terjadi menyebabkan permasalahan pada sistem drainase, sehingga genangan perlu ditangani dengan alternatif drainase berwawasan lingkungan berbasis Zero Run-Off. Data Stasiun Hujan Porong digunakan untuk pengolahan data hidrologi guna mengetahui debit rancangan pada saluran drainase. Dari hasil analisa hidrologi memakai kala ulang 5 tahun, didapatkan nilai debit banjir rancangan Subsistem Drainase Ketapang Barat dengan nilai terkecil 0,527 m3/dt dan terbesar 3,199 m3/dt. Hasil evaluasi didapatkan 6 dari 9 saluran yang ada perlu dilakukan penanganan genangan. Upaya penanganan yang dipilih yaitu dengan membuat saluran resapan, rehabilitasi saluran dan rehabilitasi sistem pompa kolam detensi. Setelah dilakukan upaya penanganan dengan alternatif saluran resapan, debit genangan yang tereduksi sebesar 33,15%. Maka dari itu dilanjutkan penanganan lanjutan dengan rehabilitasi saluran dan rehabilitasi sistem pompa, total debit genangan yang tereduksi 100%. Selanjutnya dilakukan perhitungan rencana anggaran biaya total pada masing – masing pengerjaan, didapatkan total anggaran sebesar Rp. 13.018.111.886.

Abstract

Malang city is an area that has a fairly development. The condition of the city has undergone many changes. Changes in land use Environmental and land use conditions switch functions into enclosed areas and reduce green area. This condition exacerbates drainage problems in the area as a result of inundation and flooding problems that can harm humans. Drainage is an important part of planning an area, especially urban areas. Urban drianage network systems can take advantage of emerging technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the form of spatial and geographic data in terms of evaluation of existing drainage channels and drainage channel planning.In this study, an evaluation of drainage channels using several data including rain data, dimensions of existing drainage channels, topographic and land use data at the study site. Calculation of the design flood discharge using Q10 with rational methods. The determination of Q10 used based on historical innundation. The results of the flood calculation are used to evaluate the condition of the drainage channel.The results of this study were obtained from 43 channels at the study site obtained 8 channels that were unable to accommodate the amount of design discharge so that alternative handling was needed. Alternative handling used is changes in the dimensions of channels, detention ponds, and rainwater harvester.Kota Malang merupakan daerah yang memiliki perkembangan yang cukup tinggi. Keadaan Kota Malang sudah banyak mengalami perubahan. Perubahan penggunaan lahan Keadaan lingkungan dan tata guna lahan mengalami peralihan fungsinya sebagai area tertutup dan meminimalisir lahan terbuka hijau. Kondisi inilah yeng memperburuk persoalan drainase di daerah tersebut akibatnya timbul masalah genangan dan banjir yang dapat merugikan manusia. Drainase merupakan bagian penting dalam perencanaan suatu kawasan khususnya daerah perkotaan. Sistem jaringan drianase pada perkotaan bisa menggunakan pemanfaatan teknologi yang saat ini mengalami perkembangan yaitu Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) berupa data spasial dan geografi dalam hal evaluasi saluran drainase yang ada dan perencanaan saluran drainase.Pada penelitian ini, dilakukan evaluasi saluran drainase yang menggunakan beberapa data diantaranya data hujan, dimensi saluran drainase eksisting, data topografi dan tata guna lahan di lokasi studi. Perhitungan debit banjir rancangan menggunakan kala ulang 10 tahun dengan metode rasional. Penentuan kala ulang yang digunakan berdasarkan genangan historis yang pernah terjadi. Hasil perhitungan debit digunakan untuk mengevaluasi kondisi saluran drainase.Hasil dari studi ini didapatkan dari 43 saluran yang ada pada lokasi studi dengan proyeksi debit air kotor selama 10 tahun ke depan didapatkan 8 saluran yang tidak mampu menampung besarnya debit rancangan sehingga diperlukan alternatif penanganan. Alternatif penanganan yang digunakan adalah perubahan dimensi saluran, kolam detensi, dan alat pemanen air hujan pada pemukiman.

Abstract

Abstract: The Darmokali drainage system is located in Wonokromo Subdistrict, Surabaya City. Inundation often occurs in the area due to changes in land use from an agricultural area to a residential area. Hence, it is necessary to analyze the drainage system using the SWMM 5.1 application. The analysis conducted was to change the existing rain data into hourly intensity using the mononobe method. In addition, the distribution of sub-catchment areas and the creation of a drainage network model according to the conditions in the field were carried out. The modeled result was calibrated using RMSE. The result was 0.2605, indicating that the error between the calculated and measured discharge was relatively small. It can be seen that inundation occurred in five channels, including C16, C19, C20, C24, and C33. Therefore, alternative solutions for inundation management used 2 methods, namely rain harvesting and channel dimension improvement. Rain Harvesting owned the highest reduction rate of 100% at C34 with a discharge of 1.86 m3/s and required a fee of Rp 5.897.071.595. In the meantime, channel dimension enhancement had the highest reduction level at C19 with a water level of 0.36 m and required a cost of Rp 1.514.665.912.Keywords: Drainage, Inundation, SMWW 5.1.Abstrak: Sistem drainase Darmokali terletak di Kota Surabaya, tepatnya pada Kecamatan Wonokromo. Daerah tersebut merupakan daerah yang sering terjadi genangan dikarenakan adanya perbahan tata guna lahan yang semula daerah pertanian menjadi daerah pemukiman, oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan analisa sistem drainase menggunakan aplikasi SWMM 5.1. Analisa yang dilakukan yaitu merubah data hujan yang ada menjadi intensitas hujan jam – jaman menggunakan metode mononobe, selain itu dilakukan juga pembagian subcatchment area serta pembuatan model jaringan drainase sesuai dengan keadaan di lapangan. Hasil dari pemodelan tersebut akan di kalibrasi menggunakan RMSE dan di dapatkan hasil sebesar 0,2605 yang menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan antara debit terhitung dan terukur relatif kecil. Dari hasil pemodelan dapat diketahui bahwa terjadi genangan pada 5 saluran diantaranya C16, C19, C20, C24, dan C33, oleh karena itu dilakukan alternatif solusi penanganan genangan menggunakan 2 cara yaitu dengan Rain Harvesting dan perbaikan dimensi saluran. Untuk Rain Harvesting memiliki tingkat reduksi tertinggi sebesar 100% pada C34 dengan debit sebanyak 1,86 m3/dt dan membutuhkan biaya sebesar Rp. 5.897.071.595 sedangkan perbaikan dimensi saluran memiliki tingkat reduksi tertinggi pada C19 dengan ketinggian air setinggi 0,36 m dan membutuhkan biaya sebesar Rp. 1.514.665.912Kata kunci: Drainase, Genangan, SWMM 5.1

Abstract

An effectiveness study needed to determine the ability of the retention pond built in the Sidoarjo Mud flow affected area to reduce flooding that occurs especially around Porong Highway area. This problem occurred due to geological deformation in the form of land subsidence, precisely in the area around Porong Highway and caused flooding that spread to the surrounding environment flooded several villages. Several retention ponds were built in the area as one of the strategic steps to deal with the flooding that occurred. To simulate the flooding that occurred, a rainfall intensity with a 5-year return period was used which was simulated using EPA SWMM 5.1 software with catchment area of 148,31 hectares which divided into 27 subcatchments. From the simulation results, the volume of runoff from surrounding villages and Porong Highway is 126,000 m3, with an existing pond capacity of 94373,9 m3 the effectiveness of the pond in reducing flooding is 74,48% and with an alternative pond capacity of 151415,5 m3 effectiveness pond is 120,17%. Furthermore, standard operating procedures are prepared as an effort to maximize the effectivity of the pond.Diperlukan kajian efektivitas untuk mengetahui kemampuan kolam retensi yang dibangun pada daerah terdampak semburan Lumpur Sidoarjo dalam mereduksi banjir yang terjadi khususnya sekitar Jalan Raya Porong. Permasalahan ini terjadi diakibatkan oleh deformasi geologi berupa penurunan muka tanah tepatnya pada daerah sekitar Jalan Raya Porong dan menyebabkan banjir dan menyebar ke lingkungan sekitar serta membanjiri beberapa desa. Dibangunan beberapa kolam retensi pada daerah tersebut sebagai salah satu langkah strategis penanganan banjir yang terjadi. Untuk mensimulasikan banjir yang terjadi digunakan intensitas hujan dengan kala ulang 5 tahun yang disimulasi menggunakan software EPA SWMM 5.1 dengan area penelitian seluas 148,31 hektar yang dibagi menjadi 27 subcatchment. Dari hasil simulasi didapatkan besaran volume limpasan dari desa sekitar dan Jalan Raya Porong sebesar 126.000 m3, dengan kapasitas kolam eksisting sebesar 94373,9 m3 efektivitas kolam dalam mereduksi banjir adalah sebesar 74,48% dan dengan kapasitas kolam alternatif dengan volume 151415,5 m3 efektivitas kolam adalah sebesar 120,17%. Selanjutnya standar operasional prosedur disusun sebagai bentuk upaya untuk memaksimalkan kemampuan effektivitas kolam.

Abstract

Soekarno Hatta Streets is located at Malang City, East Java Region at risk of flood. The population growth, regional development, and flat topography cause the drainage channel’s capacity inadequate for precipitation. This study is necessary to analyze the rainfall discharge with return period of 2 years (R2). Then, analyze the existing drainage channel’s capacity ability by modeling with help of the application EPA SWMM 5.1. After gaining the report of the model, there should be an evaluation of the existing drainage channel. J10 and J17 are the channels that need to be evaluated because those channels have inadequate capacity or overflow. The report shows that the flood discharge in J10 and J17 are 1,728m3/s and 0,358 m3/s. Accordingly to those conditions, the proper dimension for J10 and J17 channels are using a box culvert with dimensions 0,8 m and 0,6 m. The cost estimate for those constructions is Rp. 660.883.000,00.Jalan Soekarno Hatta yang berlokasi di Kota Malang, Provinsi Jawa Timur merupakan salah satu pusat kota yang sering terjadi genangan. Pertumbuhan penduduk dan perkembangan wilayah serta kondisi topografi yang cukup datar, menyebabkan kapasitas saluran drainase yang sudah ada tidak dapat menampung presipitasi yang tidak terinfiltrasi ke dalam tanah. Pada studi ini, diperlukan untuk menganalisis Intensitas Hujan Rancangan dengan kala ulang 2 tahun (R2). Kemudian menganalisis kemampuan kapasitas tampungan saluran drainase existing dengan memodelkan pada Aplikasi EPA SWMM 5.1. Setelah mendapatkan informasi dari pemodelan tersebut, maka diperlukan evaluasi terhadap saluran drainase existing. Saluran yang tidak memiliki kapasitas tampungan yang cukup atau meluap, akan didesain ulang dimensinya sebagaimana yang terjadi pada saluran J10 dan J17. Pada saluran J10 didapat debit luapan yang terjadi yaitu 1,728 m3/dt dan pada saluran J17 sebesar 0,358 m3/dt. Maka, diperlukannya evaluasi dimensi saluran pada J10 dan J17 dengan menggunakan box culvert dan dari masing – masing box culvert tersebut 0,8 m dan 0,6 m. Estimasi anggaran biaya yang diperlukan untuk pembangunan tersebut sebesar Rp. 660.883.000,00.

Abstract

Land use change analysis is widely applied in watershed studies, yet its reliability is often limited when multi-temporal classification accuracy is not systematically evaluated. This study aims to assess long-term land use change while emphasizing the accuracy and reliability of change detection in the Petung Watershed, East Java, Indonesia. Multi-temporal Landsat imagery from Landsat 7, 8, and 9 (2005–2024) was analyzed using a supervised classification approach implemented in ArcGIS. Classification accuracy was evaluated using a confusion matrix and the Kappa coefficient to ensure temporal consistency and methodological reliability. The results indicate a clear shift in land use patterns, characterized by a continuous decline in vegetation cover and a substantial expansion of agricultural and built-up areas. Classification reliability is supported by Kappa coefficient values ranging from 0.701 to 0.829, corresponding to substantial to almost perfect agreement, with the highest accuracy achieved in the later observation years. These findings demonstrate that the proposed supervised, GIS-based framework provides a reliable and replicable approach for accurately measuring long-term land use change at the watershed scale. While the methodology can be applied to other regions, the observed land use dynamics are specific to the Petung Watershed and reflect local environmental and anthropogenic conditions.
