Abstract

The concept of electromagnetic induction is very important in understanding and developing modern electrical technology. Some factors cause students to often find it difficult to understand electromagnetic induction material in school is that this material involves abstract concepts such as magnetic flux, magnetic field changes, and emf. For some students, understanding these concepts may be difficult due to a lack of direct experience or concrete representations. Enrichment of physics material on electromagnetic induction has been implemented at SMA N 1 Gunung Talang. This service activity aims to improve students' understanding of the basic concepts of Electromagnetic Induction in Class XII. This service consists of three stages including: preparation, implementation and evaluation. The evaluation of this activity was carried out by comparing the pre-test results before enrichment and the post-test scores of students after being given enrichment material by the lecturer (service team). The results obtained show an increase in student knowledge towards understanding the concept of electromagnetic induction. This service activity can be an effort for school and university cooperation to support student success in understanding physics concepts that are considered complicated

Abstract

Hukum Newton merupakan prinsip dasar dinamika yang merinci hubungan antara gaya dan pengaruhnya terhadap gerak suatu benda tertentu. Konsep ini dirumuskan dalam tiga hukum yang dikenal sebagai Hukum Newton 1, Hukum Newton 2, dan Hukum Newton 3. Hukum Newton merupakan bagian dari mata Pelajaran Fisika. Mata Pelajaran fisika merupakan salah satu mata Pelajaran yang dianggap susah bagi sebahagian siswa-siswi, sehingga diperlukan kegiatan pengayaan agar ilmu fisika menjadi lebih mudah bagi siswa-siswi. Kegiatan pengabdian adalah memberikan pengayaan materi hukum Newton kepada kelas XI SMA N 2 Gunung Talang. Tujuan kegiatan ini memberikan tambahan ilmu terkait dengan materi hukum Newton. Metode yang dilakukan adalah persiapan pelaksanaan, pelaksanaan kegiatan, monitoring evaluasi, pembuatan laporan akhir dan pembuatan luaran pengabdian. Kegiatan ini merupakan bagian dari pengabdian Masyarakat mengenai pengayaan mata Pelajaran Fisika di SMA N 2 Gunung Talang yang dilaksanakan mulai dari bulan Oktober-November 2023. Dari hasil kegiatan ini dapat dilihat adanya peningkatan persentase penguasaan materi dari rata-rata 49,8% menjadi 79,8 %.

Abstract

Nobita Hill, a tourist site in Padang City, is undergoing development as a tourist destination that offers a bird's-eye view of Padang City. Unfortunately, the hilly topography with steep slopes increases the risk of landslides in this area. In order to address the problem, the community service team from the Physics Department of Andalas University has carried out a six-month community service program from July to December 2022. It focused on disaster awareness education and used a qualitative approach. This activity aims to socialize disaster mitigation efforts, especially those related to landslides and earthquakes, considering that Padang City is also prone to earthquakes. The results of this activity showed an increase in the knowledge of the local community after the socialization, but repeated activities are needed to achieve optimal results. This ongoing activity is essential to ensure continuous improvement in the community's understanding of disaster mitigation and to support efforts to make Bukit Nobita a disaster-resilient area. Thus, this activity makes a positive contribution to shaping a safe, sustainable, and disaster-resilient tourism environment.

Abstract

Materi Pemanasan Global merupakan salah satu bagian dari Mata Pelajaran Fisika di SMA. Materi Pemanasan Global ini merupakan ilmu yang penting dan harus di kuasai oleh siswa-siswi jurusan IPA. Kegiatan pengabdian adalah memberikan pengayaan materi pemanasan global pada siswa-siswi kelas X SMA N 2 Gunung Talang. Tujuan kegiatan ini memberikan tambahan ilmu terkait dengan materi pemanasan global dan efek rumah kaca. Metode yang dilakukan adalah persiapan pelaksanaan, pelaksanaan kegiatan, monitoring evaluasi, pembuatan laporan akhir dan pembuatan luaran pengabdian. Kegiatan ini merupakan bagian dari pengabdian Masyarakat mengenai pengayaan mata Pelajaran Fisika di SMA N 2 Gunung Talang yang dilaksanakan mulai dari bulan Oktober-Desember 2023. Dari hasil kegiatan ini dapat dilihat adanya peningkatan persentase penguasaan materi dari rata-rata 33,8% menjadi 68,4%.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the distribution of magnetic anomalies in the geothermal area of Nagari Cupak, Solok Regency using geomagnetic methods. Data was collected using a magnetometer at 144 observation points with a distance of 300 m between points. The magnetic anomaly value is obtained from the correction of daily variation’s total magnetic data and correction to the magnetic field value of the 13th generation IGRF (International Geomagnetic Reference Field) reference model. Furthermore, reduction to the poles and continuation upwards with a height of 200 m are carried out to remove noise and separate local and regional magnetic anomalies. After data processing, the total magnetic anomaly value in the area ranges from 1252.8 nT to 2969.4 nT which is categorized as low. The low anomaly value is thought to be caused by the demagnetization of rocks due to the influence of geothermal sources in the subsurface. Furthermore, 2D modeling is carried out by analyzing the magnetic anomaly data and making a cross-sectional incision of the model on the contour of the magnetic field anomaly that has been processed above. Based on the modeling results, the subsurface geothermal system of Nagari Cupak, Solok Regency, consists of a cover rock layer, reservoir layer, and hot rock layer which is suspected to be the heat source of the geothermal system of the study area.

Abstract

This research aims to identify seawater pollution by determining the concentration of heavy metals (Pb, Cd, and Cu), electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS), temperature, and pH in seawater samples from the coast of Sungai. Pisang, Padang City. Heavy metal concentration values were measured using an Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), electrical conductivity was measured using a conductivity meter, TDS and TSS were determined using the gravimetric method, temperature was measured using a thermometer, and pH was measured using a pH meter. From the research results, the highest pH value was obtained at 7.8, the highest temperature value was 33 ℃, the highest electrical conductivity value was 163.6 µS/cm and the highest TSS value was 22.6 mg/L. The average values of pH, temperature, electrical conductivity and TSS obtained did not exceed the quality standard limits based on Minister of the Environment Regulation Number 51 of 2004. The highest TDS value obtained was 3821 mg/L and did not exceed the quality standard limits based on Republic of Indonesia Government Regulation Number 82 of 2001. The concentration values of the heavy metals Pb, Cd, and Cu on the coast of the Sungai Pisang did not exceed the quality standard limits based on Minister of Environment Regulation Number 51 of 2004. From the research results it can be concluded that the sea water on the coast of the Sungai Pisang not polluted.

Abstract

A study was conducted to investigate the effect of varying concentrations of cocoa leaf extract on ZnO nanoparticles as a capping agent. The concentrations of cocoa leaf extract were varied at 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%, and tested to observe their effects on crystal size, optical properties, and morphology of the ZnO nanoparticles. The ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized using the sol-gel method with cocoa leaf extract. The success of the synthesis was indicated by the similarity of the peaks from the synthesized compounds to the standard ZnO peaks in the X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis. The resulting crystal structure was hexagonal wurtzite, with crystal sizes for each extract concentration of 54.393 nm, 54.01 nm, 54.39 nm, 45.61 nm, and 38.45 nm, respectively. UV-Vis spectrometer analysis showed that the ZnO nanoparticles were relatively stable at wavelengths between 228 nm and 366 nm, with bandgap energy values for each extract concentration being 3.11 eV, 3.13 eV, 3.11 eV, 3.14 eV, and 3.15 eV, respectively. The UV-Vis results indicated that the bandgap energy increased with increasing concentrations of cocoa leaf extract, while the crystal size decreased, which was consistent with the XRD results. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis showed that ZnO nanoparticles synthesized with 4% cocoa leaf extract predominantly exhibited a spherical shape, with an average size of 45 nm.
