Abstract

Demands of beef in Riau Province is increasing year by year, but not balance withthe production. Riau Province must imports the beef from other areas such asLampung Province, North Sumatera Province, West Sumatera Province, East JavaProvince and Australia. Ideally, the price changes in the supplier area would leadthe price changes in Riau Province. Thus, fluctuation of beef price in supplier areawill make fluctuation in Riau Province. The aim of this research is to analyze thebeef price variations in Riau Province and supplier areas in January 2006-Desember2015. Descriptive and Variation Coefficient analysis used to see the price dinamycand variation level. The result of the research shows that the beef price in RiauProvince and supplier areas were fluctuated and increasing. Variation coefficientshow that the beef price was stable, except in 2008. In 2008, the price was notstable caused by crisis of economi.

Abstract

The expansion of palm oil plantations has not only had a positive impact but alsovarious negative impacts. International markets require the management andprocessing of palm oil plantations to be responsible by taking account ofenvironmental, social, and economic aspects. Palm oil produced must be asustainable product (sustainable) to be accepted in the international market. Thisthen spawned a concept of sustainable palm oil by a body called the Roundtable onSustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). The purpose of this study was to analyze the gapbetween the RSPO criteria standards and the practices of planters, analyze thecapabilities and challenges of Independent smallholders to obtain RSPOcertification. This research uses descriptive analysis. The results of the researchindicate that best practices or application of RSPO principles to independentSmallholders palm oil planters has reached 75%, from 138 indicators there are 13indicators that become findings, from 13 indicators findings there are 5 majorindicators. Asosiasi Mandiri ability to be able to obtain RSPO certification ie (1)Planters Association has been well organized (2) have understanding or awarenessof the importance of RSPO certification objectives (3) has fulfilled the 6 principles ofthe 8 principles of the RSPO P & C standard (4) supported by non-governmentalorganizations, and challenges faced by (1) generally low levels of plantationeducation (2) Principles 4 and 5 that have not met the RSPO P & C standards (3)associations require substantial fees for RSPO certification. To complete the fivemajor indicators, the Association requires training or assistance in recording eachcultivation activity especially on the use of pesticides, training and the formation of ateam of spray units (TUS) and empowered in any plantation maintenance activities,manufacture of special warehouses for pesticide storage and create special disposalsites or looking for distributors of processing or recycling of pesticide waste, andconducting annual medical monitoring programs specific to pesticide operators.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are: (1) to analyze the marketing channels; and (2) toanalyze the marketing costs, margins, profit, marketing efficiency and farmer share.The research method used survey method with 10 white oyster mushroom farmers,2 brokers, and 31 retailers. The result showed that marketing functions undertakenby institutions who involved in the marketing of white oyster mushroom includefarmers, brokers, and retailers such as exchange function, physical function, andfunction facilities. Marketing channels of white oyster mushroom in Pekanbaru cityconsists of three channels, where Channel I farmer selling white oyster mushroom toconsumer directly, Channel II farmer selling white oyster mushroom to retailer, andthen retailer selling mushroom to consumer, and Channel III farmer selling whiteoyster mushroom to broker, then broker selling mushroom to retailer, and finallyretailer selling mushroom to consumer. Total marketing cost of Channel I Rp533,00/kg, marketing margin Rp 0,00/kg, profit Rp 31.467,00/kg, marketingefficiency 1,67% and bagian farmer share100,00 %. Total marketing cost of ChannelII Rp 2.929,00per kg, marketing margin Rp 12.368,00/kg, profit Rp 8.983,00/kg,marketing efficiency 7,32% and bagian farmer share69,08%. Total marketing cost ofChannel III Rp 3.291,00/kg, marketing margin Rp 13.000,00/kg, profit Rp9.709,00/kg, marketing efficiency 7,84% and bagian farmer share69,05%.
